Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Currently on a QF flight to Sydney in J and it's been 50 mins since takeoff and we haven't even been offered a bottle of water. Is this normal?

No, could you specify the route or at least the duration of flight? Any turbulence?

Nope, what's the route (or at least how long time is the flight)?

edit: haha beaten to it by sudoer above.

I thought you were stuck on the tarmac first but now realize you are ON the flight- definitely not normal at all!

Very poor! If the seatbelt sign is not on, then water at the very least should be offered, even if a really short flight. Where are the FAs?

Is there any differentiation in J meals on the longer coast to coast flights versus Syd-Mel runs currently? VA seems to be serving the same stuff whether the flight is 1hr or 5hrs.

Small variations such as longer flights (PER/DRW/NZ all over 2-3 hours) tend to get a muffin or other sweet pastry but the main meals are all the same/very similar.

The big difference is the time of day, a 5-hour flight is likely to hit at least one meal time so generally will get a large meal but on the 1hr flights if outside of mealtimes then it's just a "snack".

QF932 today in J (Per-Bne 737). Pumpkin something frittata with sausage, beans and tomato. Other options were muesli or corn cakes with sausage. Sorry, I took a mouthful before taking a photo. For coeliacs, my wife had fried eggs with sausage, beans and hashbrowns. That came with fresh fruit versus the dried stuff on my plate.

Sorry yep - ADL - SYD. I think the FA were chit chatting. On the way back we had our meal and drink about 30 mins after door closed and about 20 mins after wheels up - so I think not long after seat belt sign off. Food pretty basic - just a very plain salad on the way back.

I flew MEL-PER last week in J on the 330. Dinner flight, took over an hour after take-off to be served a drink. I asked for one as a crew member was walking past - "we'll be out in the cabin shortly, and get you one then". 70 minutes after take-off the trolleys come through, and I get a drink. Meal was 'bangers and mash'.

Afterwards asked if there was anything else to snack on (as did someone across the isle). "Sorry, we only have what was on your tray".

Pretty poor service from the PER crew who were doing a turn. No turbulence, no drink refills and a general attitude that they'd rather be somewhere else.

Sounds disappointing, I flew this recently in Y and my expectations were managed (and I was fine with the Y service and food). Not sorry then I missed out on A330 J and didn't take them up on bidding for an upgrade (which was priced obscenely).

Particularly sad given how many of their colleagues have lost their jobs or are still on forced unpaid leave... You'd think they are happy to be at work- as luckily all of my recent Qantas crews were (and quite vocal about it too).

Terrible. Absent extenuating circumstances there's no way to justify taking over an hour to get a drink to J pax.

Sounds like a disappointing experience. I've done a few MEL-PER returns recently and on all flights it has been the same: 60-70 minutes for the first drink on the A330. The issue as I understand it is they've dropped a crew member, so it's now two crew for 28 J. For the last few years I've spent most of my time flying on SQ and I think they used to have four for 30 J.

While the service has been frustratingly slow to get started while they set up the galley and trolleys, overall it's been very good from that point with plenty of (generous) top ups.

Monday this week, May 31:

QF504, BNE – SYD
Choice of muesli or frittata (pumpkin/ spinach) and sausage/ tomato/ baked beans (same as shown above in post 3368): the latter was quite nice but not spectacular. Full cabin, in contrast to others happy with service.

QF119, BNE – AKL
Choice of quinoa salad/ lamb moussaka/ chicken pesto - chose the latter and was not bad, though a lack of carbs was obvious. Three wines, two whites (Coldstream Hills + ?) and one red (Voyager Estate)

Pre departure drink was served, champagne or sparkling water
Interesting request stating it is advised to change masks every two hours so the crew handed out new masks half way through the flight - hadn't had that on previous, longer sectors, such as SYD-PER.
Crew appeared genuinely interested in people, I overheard one of them telling another passenger he had been working at Dan Murphy’s ‘on the side’. Cabin again full

When I did SYD-PER and return over Easter, they provided new face masks at the half way point each way, advising to change.
