Qantas Business Class meals & menus

HBA-MEL 12:00 scheduled flight (actual departure 13:25). Lunch. Single meal offered. Described by FA as roast chicken. Was the same chicken in cream sauce as covered previously. Reasonable but too salty.

Had the Dandelion Shiraz which I did not enjoy and will avoid in future. Top ups offered. No PDB.

Decent enough flight. Especially with an empty seat alongside despite a couple of staff travelling in J.
This meal looks edible - certainly better than a meatless pasty I had recently.
Dandelion Shiraz just drinkable but that was it!

I was travelling with a family member who unfortunately had to get home asap so I arrived at the airport before 5 PM, not great but could be worse. Unfortunately I’m not sure why but the J lounge must have gone anti-tableware as all the plates and cups were plastic or paper making for a very funny time for the bartenders who routinely had beer overflowing from paper cups. The dinner offerings weren’t great either, being exactly the same as the Qantas pub in Melbourne. The cakes were quite nice however.

We boarded 10 mins ahead of schedule and had a relatively full load, unfortunately we were delayed 25 mins as a passenger had failed to board and ofc his bag was one of the first loaded. Despite this delay no pre departure drink or bottle of water was offered was also told my jacket couldn’t be hung so it lived on the armrest. We did get a pre dinner drink and snack. They had 2 beers, 150 lashes or little creatures and so opting to try something different I went for the LC only to find they had just loaded 1 can which the passenger in 2C had. 3 options for dinner, some beef in mushroom sauce, butter chicken or salad with beetroot and mozzarella. 7 of the 8 people in rows 1&2 had the beef meaning it was just salad or butter chicken (which I was going to have anyways) however due to an issue with the oven we had a 20 minute wait although we got another round of drinks. The dish was actually really tasty, rice a tad dry but not bad at all. I’m not sure where Qantas gets it bread from but the size inconsistency always surprise me, the slices were rather small for everyone but the bread was excellent to mop up the left over sauce. It came with a fig and ginger pudding with caramel sauce which was amazing. About 2 hours later we got a chocolate gelato. Overall I was very impressed with the flight after a sub par lounge experience.

They have been using disposable cutlery and tableware since at least 23 April. I was told because their dishwasher was broken.

No major food update here but my SYD-MEL got cancelled and put on a Qflink operated 717 service.

Upon boarding we got pretzel & nuts and water bottle, jacket hung and some of the most attentive service I've seen. Perhaps need to book the Qflink more often.. Just miss the wifi

Cracking sunset with a side of toasted sandwich and Sav blanc or GSM...didnt ask re spirits.

MEL-ADL 15:35 flight. Refreshment. Options were Cornish pastie or prosciutto, corn and grain salad. Thanks to this thread I went for the salad.

Very glad I did. Huge serve of good quality prosciutto and corn as well as spinach leaves and pickled radish. I am a slow eater but despite being served first I was barely a third of the way through before the folk across the aisle were finished with their pasties.

Didn’t catch the CSM’s name unfortunately but she did a great job serving a full J cabin in a relaxed but efficient style, including several top ups and teas and coffees. Helped a bit by strong headwinds which slowed us down a bit, plus the other cabin crew helped out a bit with the coffees, but really well done.
Have left feedback including flight details so hope it gets through.

I flew from ADL-MEL a couple of weeks ago, and had a special meal ordered:

The CSM made a point of photographing the meal before he showed me as he was horrified. There were two or three pieces of plastic sticking out of the food. I did not go looking for more! The bowl was intact so the plastic ended up in the meal before it was covered in foil.

Despite the CSM making a report, and me reaching out to QF there has been no response from QF. I was giving them a chance to respond before posting here.
I flew MEL-PER return in J a couple of weeks ago and had that same meal on both sectors… sans plastic!

Mushroom frittata with bacon (underneath), baked beans and hash brown

Was very tasty with the beans and washed down with a number of cups of tea. Would have it again in a heartbeat

Despite the flight being moved to 8am (to facilitate the Durban stop on the return leg), it’s still a lunch service on QF63 today
It can take some time for menu change, and given that is last minute and temporary, it is probably not practical to change the menu.

Agree however I see an easier fix in the confines of what's on the menu already. But I understand your point it isn't even that simple.

Load more quiches, some pastries and some cereal, offered as a light start. Lunch to follow about halfway through the flight.

Another meal that’s been recently included in this thread, but worth reporting anyway. 8:55 flight from ADL-BNE. Options were the omelette or granola.

Omelette was pretty good. I don’t normally like breakfast potatoes but these were good, which is lucky as there was a lot. Unfortunately few mushrooms and the ‘bacon’ was just a very few bacon bits, most of which were fat. Pastry was a bit dry. Didn’t try the mango yoghurt.

No problem with wine at this hour, and top ups offered regularly. Kate the CSM was terrific. She even turned back several Y interlopers! I’ve left feedback accordingly.

QF668 ADL/BNE now (4/5/22, 7.25pm departure)

Options of beef with black peppercorn sauce (I think) or the grain salad with prosciutto and a couple of leaves that somehow become a salad and marinated carrots in balsamic. Very tasty. Would have again.

Dandelion Vineyards 2018 Shiraz - too heavy with salad but only red option.

Aaarrgh, I’d arrived in ADL from BNE at 8:15am. I would have passed you somewhere in the concourse (or you were in the QC). 😂

I’m now coming back home to BNE and you’re likely still there….so close.

Great photos and comments 👍

I thought I had seen this menu before (and eaten most of those dishes pre-Covid even). Not very inventive or original, Qantas, are they?
Not just pre Covid but QF have had some of those items on the menu for nearly 15 years..

Humpty Doo barramundi? First dish going back at least 10 years

Salad of white cut chicken, wombok etc - I'm sure I've had that in F and J in 2007/2008

Same with Thai style fish cakes...

Re Lunch on QF63 - I dont think since the QF32/QF10 out of SIN and HKG era (pre the EK deal) has QF had a breakfast as a first, main meal? Used to be easy to get F point upgrades on those flights and in it was a great and large F menu....a selection of many breakfast starters and mains, as well as a selection of lunch/dinner dishes which perfectly suited the departure time and flight length - and you could have what you wanted, whenever.

The high point in QF catering was the late 2000s/early 2010s era!
