Qantas Business Class meals & menus

CNS-BNE 9:10 flight. Described as morning refreshment but was actuality lunch. Two choices - barramundi in tomato based sauce, or Asian beef with rice. I went for the Barra.

Nice piece of fish and a very tasty sauce. Beans were crisp and fresh. Good meal.

Damian the excellent CSM described the beef a few different ways (in black bean sauce, pepper sauce, or oyster sauce) so not sure what it was - but it looked good when my fellow Row 1 passengers (all staff travelling) were eventually served it. My FA neighbour in 1F said it was delicious - though she probably couldn’t say anything else!

Service took a little while to start but once it did it was excellent. Wine glass never empty.

Excellent - there is hope for the side yet!

Small steps ... small steps :) HBA-MEL J has been traditionally 'well catered'.
Except the flight taken by MrLtL and MsLtL last week - no catering loaded at all. Though in their case it was Y as the original flight did not have J seating at all - they were J from MEL to CBR (as it turned out the next day as flight to MEL was over 7 hours late and a different plane).

Two good qantas flights in a row was expecting too much 😞. Back to their usual ordinary service on QF64 (JNB-SYD).

70 minutes after take off until a drink was received, glass then sat empty until 130 mins after take off when the rabbit leaves arrived. Menu “choices” is a generous term, as all they had left was soup and beef. I did select the last row of J in fairness. Food was just average. By the time I had the cheese plate it had been more than 4 hours since take off (and they didn’t even do the final tea/coffee run). I believe Y+ had completed their service before business got starters.

Finally got to sleep 4 and a half hours after take off to be shaken awake 2.5 prior to landing for breakfast (which I declined and went back to sleep). Got up about 50 before landing but nobody came near me. One FA was pleasant, but the rest were the usual miserable QF crew.

Gave them another try, won’t actively do it again!

Thought you were smarter than that....

Some severe Qantas bashing here… I really have enough to complain about Qantas but “the usual miserable QF crew”? Out of 1000+ Qantas crew members I might interact with in an average years, 2 or 3 tend to be absolute dragons (and some are useless, especially if you count the call centre). But the “usual miserable QF crew” is not something that I’m aware of, especially not if talking about the flight attendants. Maybe Joyce, maybe the food, definitely the wait times when calling. But the flight attendants for all, most of them are outright lovely or at least “professional”?

Thinking about it- “miserable crew” is not something I regularly encounter at any airline. Even on the likes of AA, that would be rather the exception than the norm and US carriers probably come closest.

Had to rush over at short notice. Options aren’t as plentiful as usual.

Great that you’ve had that experience. Sadly, all my poor flights over the years have been in qantas.

QF438 MEL-SYD on Saturday on the Dreamliner. A quiche of some sort (we were told the flavour but I forgot although I do remember the sauce was onion flavoured).

3 choices. Prosciutto salad, chicken in mushroom sauce with mash and vegetables or beef in black pepper sauce with mushrooms and rice. I went for the beef and it came with a lamington, seeded bread and a Lindt chocolate.

Service was not inclusive a bar service and had to be requested. [9:30am SYD-AKL]

Nothing like QF143 with 3 courses on same aircraft

QF932 PER-BNE
Good flight on the 738 in 1F.
Sadly still no pre takeoff drink or menus, hope they return sometime soon.
Good breakfast though of omelette with potatoes/bacon/onion, hit the spot on a sleep deprived morning. Washed down with the usual GB sparkling.

One wonders why anyone would continue flying an airline “over the years” if they’re so horrid. Apparently.

And that’s why I don’t. Sorry it’s struck a nerve with you.
No, not really- I'm usually the last one to take Qantas' side. What struck a nerve is that you're singling out the cabin crews for all- I think that's really unfair and not justified in my opinion. And on top, many of them had a really hard time during Covid so I think it's fair to cut them some slack.

Certainly an opinion you’re entitled to. Just as I am mine.

BNE - CBR 14:50 flight.

No PDB. Two options same as my most recent flight out of BNE - croque monsieur or beetroot and chickpea salad. Kiara looking after us in J showed me the salad as I really didn’t want another toasted sandwich. It looked more generous than the one I’d seen previously so went with it.

06CFA045-1004-4724-BFED-BA2A9357573E.jpeg

It was very good. Included toasted nuts, spinach leaves, fresh mozzarella, celery and a nice pomegranate dressing (hopefully have that all correct - pretty sure it was described as being with feta but that wasn’t the case). Very tasty combination and quite substantial.

Service from Kiara good. Served a full J cabin efficiently. When I moved my wine glass off the tray she topped it up and offered more later (but I switched to a generous scotch after that).

My first flight on the Alliance Embraer jet. Solo seat 1A very spacious and comfortable, but a little exposed and nowhere to easily store or place a small device at the seat itself.

Points upgrade to J today from ADL to SYD. QF 740.

Cornish pasty or roasted broccoli and prosciutto salad. Chose the Salad. Very good. (sorry! no pictures. forgot...)

Speedy, friendly and attentive service with multiple refills of water and wine.

Overall, a good impression.

(Now if that can be repeated next week from SYD to DFW on QF 7...)

Though when i was quite regularly flying AA I found the AA crews quite often to be better than QF. We flew quite a bit AA F long haul. I remember the best FA I have had as an easily remembered name-Marvel -on a JFK -LHR flight. And trans Pacific a purser from Hawaii -Danno. Now why would I remember that. ;)
