Qantas Business Class meals & menus

And when did Qantas shrink the portion sizes?? Every main meal was served on a bread / side plate. The soup bowl was tiny!
In a recent Qantas announcement, included was that portion sizes would be increased. So it hasn’t been an accident of late.

One of the flight crew said he would be attending a preview of the new menu in 3 weeks time. Perhaps the portion size will increase then.
I’m not a big eater, but I thought the meals were small and I think anyone with a bigger appetite would be disappointed.

Flew to Bali last night, choice of three dishes in the main cabin… rendang chicken, cold chicken salad - Japanese style with sesame dressing, meatballs with pasta. Served with garlic focaccia.

What a brilliant flight! great crew, bar service to start, delicious hot meals, although portions were not overly large. Mid flight snack. Chocolates before landing. Lots of water rounds, drink top ups and refills throughout the flight! Great entertainment selection. Bathrooms clean. About as good as it gets.

Aside from the speed of service due to the much larger cabin, this was as good as business class in terms of service, interaction with pax, and food. With a spare seat beside us I even managed two hours sleep!

Flew MEL - DFW last month and this is what my husband and I had :)

Service and crew were great, food was alright but nothing to write home about. Enjoyed the barramundi in particular.

Menu for QF27 SYD - SCL

Food was pretty bad. I didn’t think you could make many mistakes with bread, but it was hard and dry!

I’ve been disappointed with qantas sized meals (and variety) of recent! Have more flights next month where I’ll see whether there has been an improvement!

Onboard QF621 BNE-MEL now. Chicken salad, very nice.

Four cheese toasted sandwich with a side
of bread ... oh my, no. No. It's terrible. (the toasted sandwich).

However the service was very good.

I recently flew MEL-SYD-DFW and then DFW-MEL (a truly LONG flight, even in J).

Anyway.. this is the most underwhealmed I have been with QF in a long time. Flights were on time, equipment and deat (787) fine and crews were reasonable to good.

Th food ex-SYD was generally good though I entered food coma in the Flounge trying just about evetything from the Korean fried chicken to the Dan Dan noodles, cake and ice cream and other things, so I was not too interested in a lot of food at least initially on SYD-DFWE. I had pea/mint soup (fine) and creme caramel (good) but skipped main. Brekky with the Neil Perry version of a bacon & egg Muffin with BBQ sauce was pretty good tbh. No real complaints. (and no pics).
👌

I quite enjoyed the lamb salad this afternoon on my weekly commute home. Thought it was appropriate for the time of day. Another great crew. I tend to be the only one addressed by name (not that it’s a big thing for me but those small touches like that and when you leave the plane are noticed)

Live in flight on SYD-AYQ. Morning tea service was the chia bowl with berries or goat’s cheese tart. I had the former (delicious) with a tiiiiny slither of focaccia and good banter with the CSM on the state of such things. Service has been exceptional throughout the flight with very regular topups. While I’ve had some good food on recent VA flights in J, a good QF crew having a good day just have a
je ne sais quoi that almost no other airline can replicate imho.

Flew home in J on QF62 from HND to BNE on Thursday. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of it, but I had the worst meal I have ever been served on a plane (economy included).

It was a 'Brioche with Fried Chicken and Chipotle sauce' that was the size of two fingers. The fried chicken was microwaved and soggy, the sauce was non-existent, the brioche was rock hard and dry, the salad on the 'burger' was purely cucumber, and the side salad was 100% baby spinach. My wife ordered the same and was equally flabbergasted. Very different to our Finnair experience last June.

If I hadn't eaten in the lounge I probably would have cared more and asked for something else.

The cabin crew were lovely and excellent, I felt so bad for them having to serve this rubbish up to people.

Recently flew QF63 and QF64 Sydney- Johannesburg in J. Menu was the standard Qantas fare ( see attached). Barramundi and chille prawns on the way to South Aftica was good ( not great) but the hake on the way back was too dry. Wines were decent with a chardonnay being a standout ( didn’t get a pic unfortunately) . Service was good. Overall a 3.5/5 star experience. Emirates and Qatar still miles ahead on food and beverage. 5A826B5A-4A98-40D6-B46C-D1BC048FD774.jpeg53AACBCF-E409-455D-A28A-6D12C902CF8E.jpeg

QF644 PER-SYD this morning. I ate breakfast in the lounge as I knew the powdered eggs onboard would be revolting. I just had the SPC fruit salad and an apple and was happy with that. The lady next to me had the muesli, yoghurt and Danish pastry, the latter looking delicious and she did eat everything. I had to ring for a second cup of tea as the CSM had disappeared to the rear of the aeroplane! Generally service was good and I had a chat later in the flight.

Qantas meal portions have in Int J have been small for almost as long as I can remember. Might have been something they introduced with the "small plates" and "main plates" concept, except all plates were actually small in size.

QF615 BNE-MEL 07/03/23
Choices were Bacon and Mushroom Quiche or Muesli with Buckwheat. Chose the former. Came with a croissant iirc. Tasty but not remarkable, the dark onion-y jam was a little sweet for me. The FA made a point of the "fresh" orange juice, which I selected, then proceeded to pour it out of a store-bought plastic bottle.
