Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Similar happened in the F lounge in Melbourne. I asked for Blush Champagne and she said they didn't have any, then started to walk away! 🤬
There is Blush Champagne in the international Flounge, but that's only during times when flights between MEL and SYD occur which I am told only occur before 8 AM.

If you mean Rose champagne by blush, definitely a thing - had in MEL and SYD at different times this year. I'd note though, in SYD, it was Australian sparkling (don't recall what they gave in MEL). I would have expected something French, but anyway there was zero issue requesting Rose champagne. Maybe the term "blush" confused server?

Yes, the term “blush” isn’t familiar to me either, as far as I know it’s called a “Rosé”. But I asked for it a few weeks back in the Sydney Flounge and they didn’t have any (11am-ish, on a Thursday).

oh you got the accent on the 'e' - good job. I can't figure that out on my laptop (lol) but can on my phone. Anyway I digress.... but when I wrote it I wanted to properly accent it. :D

so odd. SYD F definitely has had it in the past so maybe they were actually just out for some reason? That's annoying for you :(

QF1953 - DRW-ADL
SDT: 1715 - FT: 3:45

From a few weeks ago so sorry memeory is a bit foggy. Flight was running late as the inbound aircraft had a problem so they had to get a stored one in DRW to operate our service. Bottles of water were handed out before pushback.

There was two options for dinner. Either a pumpkin salad or the “fish,” in tomato sauce. I obviously chose the later and it came with the smoked salmon and grain salad. The veggies were mush and the fish was very dry but it was fine. Meal orders were taken in status order as the CSM very proudly told myself and the other platinum in J. They were also delivered from the galley as they have been on every QQ operated flight I’ve taken.

Maggie beer ice cream came later which was freezer burned and covered in quite a thick layer of ice despite the CSM taking it out to thaw earlier.

Probably the weakest of the J flights I’ve taken this year.

QF41 - SYD to CGK
15:37 - 18:55 (13:55 - 17:30)

Flight was delayed a few hours due to the aircraft being late getting in for New Delhi, however then Qantas lounge was perfectly adequate, however they could really use an uplift in the food service, however staffing/drinks and everything else was great.

We were first onboard with seats 1E & 1F, was pleasantly greeted by the CSM and Crew, refreshments offered straight away. Pre Departure the CSM came around and introduced themselves and then a 2nd crew members also took our orders ,a 2nd top up of champagne was given and I didnt even have to ask for that one.

Meal service started 15 min after departure (was relatively quick), The wife and I decided to order opposite of menu items (just so we could taste everything).

Stand outs: The beef fillet, I was so surprised about this one as I dont know how they managed to get it medium rare and slighter on the rarer side to (just how I like it), It was soft and extremely flavourful. Chicken skewers were a delight, extremely were seasoned and so tasty. My wife said you couldnt go wrong with the salmon either but she preferred to the chicken. The mango desert was actually to die for, very light on the pallet not overly sweet and had a great mango flavour.

Everything else: The fish was fine, nothing to write home about, prob a bit more breading that we would usually like. Arancini balls were also pretty standard, I feel these could have done with a bit more seasoning. The cheese was pretty standard it did the job. The Pastry was under cooked, however there was substantial filling.

I was quite interested to try the really small bowl of viet noodles with beef brisket. I was pleasantly surprised about this (we're big pho consumers), the meat was almost melt in yor mouth and the soup and noodles had an excellent flavour, TBH I could have done with 3 more of these.

Final thoughts - I was slightly worried about this flight, this is only because of all the bad press that Qantas has been getting over the past few years and this was our first flight since COVID. However apart from the delayed departure, everything about this flight was 10/10. CSM and Crew were amazing, attentive and polite. The food was a huge stand out and I cant wait to try many more of these as we have a few more flights coming up. I can honestly say Qantas did exceed all my expectation.

Looking at some of these dishes simply serving KFC with potato and gravy + a side of coleslaw I think I would find more appetising. That would all pair well with Qantas’s unlimited supply of sour dough bread and Pepe Saya butter.

QF62 NRT > BNE
Sunday 26th November.

Japanese set menu ran out pretty quick (I think by row 4), opted for the salmon which was tasty albeit a bit sweet. Sake was pretty good too.

QF629 BNE - MEL dep 5pm (hour late) arr 8pm. Choice for dinner was a toastie, lentil soup or cheese platter. For a dinner flight pretty poor (J class)
I don’t mean to be picky but a quick google of Qantas dinner service meal times reveals the time that dinner is served.

Your flight appears to leave before 5pm so whilst you may be disappointed there are ample resources out there to assist you getting a proper dinner service.

That’s why we are all on here to learn.

Qantas are not consistent though with meal timings.

i.e. QF2 departs LHR before 8pm and gets a supper service.

They are on domestic flights.
The beef here is always when you have flights scheduled on or near the "time boundaries" that end up being delayed, e.g. a 1730h flight that is delayed an hour (well into "dinner" time) and ends up being a refreshment on board.

But, what do you do... a bit silly to try and swap out catering for a delayed flight on the fly.

QF 36 MEL > SIN

We had all our supper orders taken pre departure but funnily there was no breakfast card (I woke up staring right at the breakfast next to my seat).

I had the laksa and partner had the garoupa. They were both decent but not crazy. Luckily we had stuffed ourselves at QR lounge (by far the best J lounge for food, I'd say it can even hang with QF F).

Breakfast was served abiut 1.5hours from landing. I didn't feel too hungry so I just got a roll and tea.

I think we entered & sat next to you in the QR lounge. Either you or your partner commented on my friend's Frieren bag.

Anyway, here's the lamb from the QR lounge.

The fact that there's only two showers in the QR lounge is quite annoying though.

Wow QR lounge food looks even better than what was on offer when I was there early 2020

The fact that there's only two showers in the QR lounge is quite annoying though.
Oh and also as another slightly off-topic of the QR lounge - why don't they have paper towels? If someone's used the bathroom, you have to wait for the cleaner to go in and swap out the (single) cloth towel in each toilet. Very slow if the cleaner is stuck cleaning a shower.

They don't typically give breakfast cards on the overnight flights from Asia. Normally just a trolley with the options like the B&E roll.
I've never not seen a breakfast card on an asian overnight to be honest, on flights from both Singapore and Japan.

I had a breakfast card on HND > SYD back in March on QF for the overnight flight.
