Qantas Business Class meals & menus

21/6 cns-bne QF649

There was a salami and cheese toasted sandwich and a chicken salad both nice, unfortunately photos won't load. Also a chocolate and cheese cake type dessert - one of the nicest desserts I have had in domestic J. Very rich but quite light.

21/6 BNE-CBR QF961 a choice of cheese box, soup and fried rice. Thought the fried rice quite reasonable with large pieces of pork/chicken. Quite a big portion, as I could only eat half. Dessert some sort of cake thing with pink icing, but too sweet and solid to eat.

oh FM I missed you by 2 days on 649! Had the choccy dessert too on 19/6. Have had it a few times on flights it's very yummy :)

interestingly different lunch options on that flight.

QF507 SYD-BNE today
A breakfast flight

Choices were a hot breakfast with bacon, poached eggs, spinach, grilled tomato & mushrooms; or an oats dish. Most of us chose the hot breakfast. Came with a bowl of fruit.

The sparkling wine was Yarra Burn, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but the rest of the meal was great.

Excellent service, and my first time in J on a refurbished (non-BSI) 737. The seats are now covered in a maroon leather like the newer seats and I found them very comfortable.

Yeah well - got an email the other day from Qantas... 'enjoy business class wines served on board'... open the email and it proudly states 'buy for under $20 a bottle'.

With champagne going for $40 a bottle (QF could get a deal), and fares MEL-SYD not giving much change from $1000 one way at times, you'd think they wouldn't be boasting so much they are serving economical wines. (I appreciate $$$ dun always = quality, but there is probably a sweet spot somewhere).

I am vegetarian and I often feel like I am being punished when I receive my Qantas business domestic (or international) meal. Staff also often bring the meal out and say if you would prefer something off the main menu let me know. Most of the meals are beans (chickpeas covering green beans, or chickpeas in a bland sauce, or pasta with mushrooms). I can almost quote the meal before it comes out. If this is a Neil Perry meal then he needs cooking lessons for vegetarians. I am not expecting a first class meal but really beans with beans or beans followed by beans is not ideal.

One of the problems is that all the vegetarian meals are vegan i.e. VGML. It does not matter whether the meal ordered is VLML, VOML, VGML or one of many others , they are all the same VGML which often taste like eating clag with spices added...

There are so many good VLML meals available why not offer one as the alternative dish on the main menu? Other airlines do this as routine.

Grant Burge is back as the sparkling wine - thank goodness. It's not amazing but it's better than the undrinkable Yarra Burn.

Had prawn dumplings with greens as a refreshment SYD-BNE on Friday afternoon. Was quite nice actually and not too filling (albeit a bit salty). I forgot to take a photo of this unfortunately.

Coming back BNE-SYD on Saturday morning was a toasted chicken sandwich. That was surprisingly delicious.

They did service from back to front which I found unusual (I do really hope that FEBO isn't being tried), but they did keep one of everything for me (I was in 1A).

That's odd. Obviously no explanation given - but did the CSM specifically say they kept one of everything for you?

QF621 BNE-MEL Sunday 10Jul - the Lamb and Greek Salad. Drink was a passable SA Shiraz (sorry didn't get the detail).

Mrs BD commented she enjoyed this as much as any airline meal: light and well flavored (she doesn't get out much!).

Alternatives were the chicken & pesto toasted sandwich or a soup.

Regards,

BD

Why can't they have Jansz or Chandon piccolos if they must have aussie sparkling rather than Champagne. give us something nice. the GB is ok but not great, I agree it is better than the hideous disgusting Yarra Burn which actually does burn the throat.

Even the Brown Brothers Sparkling or Prosecco would be enjoyable.

Served from the rear last Saturday on a SYD-BNE 333 service. I got my meal as a WP in 1A only moments before descent ... I nursed my indigestion from the comfort of the new suites, which are quite comfortable, esp the mini recline for takeoff and landing. Shame I didn't have much time to enjoy the poached eggs with bacon and mushrooms which was pretty good too.

This is a troubling development.

Service on the refurbed A330s is painfully slow too (at least in my maybe 8 or 10 experiences)

I am with you 100%

I am not really all that pleased with the main NP ( for a non vegetarian that is, I am pig and will eat anything :D ) menu either cause of Beans and some chicken with sourdough bread if your in J.

I was on the return BNE-SYD. Same aircraft (VH-QPF), same seat. I wonder if it was the same crew.

Service was still pretty quick as it wasn't a full cabin (I was the only person in row 1) and I still managed a second piccolo of GB :)

Our cabin was quite full from memory. Didn't realise it came back as I thought it was positioning for a BNE-Asia jaunt. One wonders why they send a 333 up and back on a day where loads are usually pretty light.
