Refreshment on yesterday mornings flight from syd to Mel. Goats cheese tart. Other options were fruit salad or banana bread with blueberries. Quite tasty and suitable given the time and it being my third breakfast for the day.

3 J flights over the weekend.

2 of them had the same offering - Fritata with sausages, tomato/onion relish and spinich:

How long is Neil Perry's contract? I've not flown business class domestically for a while as my travel in Australia since retirement is mostly from Wagga to Sydney and return but this "Rockpool inspired" stuff doesn't look too appetising from the photos people have posted. One of the breakfast's looked nice but chicken wings and frozen cheese? C'mon! My one and only visit to Rockpool left me with a feeling of being totally ripped off so I'm not a fan of Perry, I will admit.

Are tablecloths only on the PER flights? Photos of the shorter hops don't seem to have them. Pity, as there is surely enough time even between MLB and SYD to cover the rather boring tray table. There are not exactly dozens of business class seats on a 737.

Regardless of the spin I don't think Perry/Rockpool have anything to do with dom catering. I bet they only have a passing influence on the key international routes like LAX/LHR and maybe SIN/HKG. Maybe that's unfair but it seems to be my impression.

tablecloths are considered "special" (as are hot towels etc) and reserved for international and transcon(wait I'm not even sure if they bother with HT's on transcon)

Honestly I could care less about tablecloths and stuff... I'd prefer a better quality meal but each to their own.

QF655 CNS-BNE 12/1/17 5:10pm departure

Lamb meatballs with feta cheese.
Rather tasty (I generally find these J domestic dinner meals ok)

Interesting there were only 4 in J cabin, so there was no pre-dinner drink/pretzel service, and the CSM served each passenger individually (like on Virgin) and didn't wheel the cart down the aisle as usually happens with Qantas domestic J

Seems a bit slack if there were 4/12 in J to not do a pre dinner drink. I do like serving from the galley though

I don't recall getting a hot towel in J either way between Sydney and San Fran last year. And they certainly don't give them on Trans Tasman.

Nothing Sin to MEL this week either. Wasn't even asked if I wanted a pre dinner drink!

Ugh. Just not good enough. I also have an ongoing problem flying J Trans Tasman that there is never any champagne left after take off. I tell customer care and they say it was under catered but it keeps happening.

And for something different... guess what this meal WAS and you may get a bottle of S+S (note the wine was actually Juniper Crossing Sem-Sauv Blanc) :D

(MEL-ADL lunch)

QF786 BNE-CNS 15/1 19:35 departure

Beef cheeks with potato/brocolli gratin.
Beef was tender. Potato/brocolli cheese was tasty.

Other choice was a turkey salad
