QF 467 SYD to MEL dinner service (7:30pm departure).

Braised beef with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Also had a slice of sourdough and the dessert was a orange cake with a chocolate coated top.

Beef was tender and full of flavour. Cake was good as usual.

CBR-BNE lunch (737, not QF link). Options were a ricotta slice, mushroom soup, or a cold smoked duck salad.

Having had had two very nice salads in the J lounge just before, I went for the slice which was the hot option. It was nice but the quite strong flavour was a bit too dominant so could have done with more accompaniments than just the tomato. I also had a cheeky cup of the soup, which was very tasty.

I see real butter (Western Star) was offered in kermatu's post above. Haven't seen that for a little while ;)

BNE-MEL flight departure - 13:55. Not classed as lunch, but refreshment. As I got to the airport pretty late, only having a water in the lounge, and skipped breakfast, I was dreading getting either a small salad or toasted sandwich on this flight. Much to my delight the offerings while limited were definitely superior -- a broccoli and blue cheese soup or a duck breast in hoisin sauce with jasmine rice. I had the latter.

I don't think it was just because I was hungry -- I genuinely think it was a fabulous dish. Very tasty, and the amount and quality of meat was superb. No exaggeration to say one of the best J meals I have had (on QF anyway).I have a pic but can't post for some reason - will try later.

QF1309 BNE-CBR (14:10 departure)

I thought this was a pretty good hot meal for a refreshment flight. It was a Chinese stir-fry with chicken, pasta, vegetables and ginger. It reminded me a little of char kway teow.

The other option was mushroom soup.

QF459 SYD-MEL Sat 11th Feb

"Soy Chicken with noodles"

this was a bit special given it was on the 747-400 and we were in the upper deck. The international crew were brilliant on this short sector (positioning flight for antartic charter). They managed table linens (when does THAT ever happen on a domestic SYD-MEL? :)) and were uber generous with refills and the like. 2 choices of white wines (not sure about the reds) - they were a Sauv Blanc (I can only presume my beloved S+S) and a Chardonnay which was very nice, but I didn't know what the label was.

A super fun flight! Oh and the chicken was pretty tasty too! :)

Nice. So did this flight depart from the international terminal?

No it was domestic->domestic as the Antartica charter left from domestic so they sent the plane down as a revenue flight (and it flew back to SYD today again revenue operating QF416).

Since a few of us knew it was on we booked it for the ride on the "Queen"

QFLink (717) OOL-SYD

Lamb Biriyani with some Naan bread. a bit light on the lamb but quite a nice spice to it. Only 3/12 in J so service was really good :)

Also to note of interest. Was on an A330-300 (incidently VH-QPJ,, "Rainbow Roo") and the meal service in J was from back of the cabin forward rather than forward back. Not seen that before on QF.

White wine was good ol' S+S so I had a beer :D

Is that cheese or a dessert in the bowl?
