Qantas Business Class meals & menus

My wife had a very ordinary looking and testing Lamb Greek salad yesterday SYD-MEL. Smothered in oil, looked terrible. The FA went to Y to get me a chicken and leek pie, quite good too.

if these are the "new" menu options that were spruiked about a few weeks back.. not too inspiring.

I was told on QF435 today that Grant Burge Sparkling wine is no longer stocked in Dom J - this was the replacement. While GB is not my favourite I thought it was ok and have always been happy to drink it, this new one is not as good as the GB IMO.

They could introduce some premium Aussie sparkling like Arras for example. Really not much to ask considering the overpriced Dom J tickets.

Shame, the GB wasn't bad. But yes, the DOM J sparkling is pretty disappointing on the whole.

Yarra Burns is, quite honestly, cheap cough. Sorry QF but it is. It's like a step up from "Yellow" IMHO

Anyway as the other posters noted - it was being served some years back.

I'll never forget maybe 2011 or so I was on a SYD-MEL flight in J and had a hankering for something bubbly (not normal for me on dom). Anyway I asked the FA stupidly if there was any champagne loaded. Lucky me, I had the most French of French QF FA's (well the accent was very French anyway) and her tone was hilarious as she said "No Sir, we do not have any *Champagne* loaded, but we do have... sparkling" (the tone was dripping with the contempt it was due it was beautiful in only the way a French person could do it). Suitably reminded that sparkling is NOT Champagne (:D) I said OK I'll give it a go. Well it was YB and fair dinkum the FA was not wrong with her scorn.

Now I stick to vodka or perhaps a sauv blanc :D

(aside on Jan 1 they had a beautiful Rieseling loaded on SYD-MEL along with a chardy, which I had not seen for a long time on dom)

Apologies if this is a bit OT - but is sparkling wine the only alcoholic bevvy offered to J on a breakfast flight? I haven't had many breakfast J flights of late and/or not wanted a drink - but have a couple next week and would certainly prefer a bloody mary or even a wine to sparkling if it was available.

I'd say they will have the minis of vodka and so on boarded but they don't (obviously) offer wine with the meal service, but I'm almost certain mixed drinks can be ordered. It's usually been a bit early for me :D

This is disappointing. I really like the Grant Burge sparkling wine.

Let's hope that it's only a trial, and that it receives appropriate feedback.

Also, less than $2 per glass, retail, for the 750ml bottle, although 200ml bottles onboard?.

I've had gin on a breakfast dom J flight.

Usually too early for me. Only travel J if for work so won't be drinking beforehand. Or as a sector to an International connection. If with QF I'd be heading to the F lounge anyway. But I have some Domestic flights and a T-T breakfast flight soon so may give it a go!
