Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Last week flew PER-SYD in J and was the 0600 737 flight in J.

Choices were a Frittata, Pumpkin and Feta Omelette on potato's and bacon and Muesli. side of chutney if you wanted it.

Tray service with a brownes yoghurt.

Brekky was decent to be fair

Yesterday flew MEL-PER on the A332 0935 Flight in J.

Choices were:

Beef Stir Fry with Rice
Chicken and Mushroom Sauce with Potato
Healthy Salad

On the side was a horrible simones kitchen lamington still half frozen. Choice of 1 White or 1 Red and thats all there was.

First time i've flown J since before COVID and the food has slipped massively........we have moved on and Qantas needs their service to reflect it.

That looks amazing 😍😍😍😍😍 (goes off to see if I can change my next flight to MAA to Vistara)

This is what I like about the regional meals provided by different carriers. The meal provided should (IMHO) capture the essence & spirit of the destination.

QF nails this on the head. That's why they serve a sausage roll for domestic J ;) Careful what you wish for.

In all seriousness, I would certainly recommend Vistara. Note I was in Y+ and HLO with online check-in only. Priority boarding was strictly enforced.

QF70 Sat DEL-MEL

No more tablecloth. Just a tray put out. The NP weeds must have cost the airline a good $4 based on the price of lettuce now. Entree and main were ok at best.

I think I might remove the gluten free meal requirement for my next international flight. I just receive chicken, chicken and chicken, and sometimes a fish in pseudo-curry sauce. At least two of the mains shown on recent menus and here are gluten free anyway. Instead of dessert, just fruit. 😇
(Note I am a coeliac and am strict with my diet, but I do know ingredients.)

That menu looks really good. Very Desi :) And they have the menu in Hindi ... Wonder when QF flies to Bengaleru, the menu would be in Kannada? :)

I'm a vego, so the only thing I noticed on the menu is the plant dining options & dessert

27JUN22 AKL-SYD QF148 1740 dep

Food:

Credit where it's due: the black pepper beef was a great dish. The beans were fresh and not overcooked, the thinly sliced beef still tender, and the gravy had a good pepper kick without being overly salty. The protein & veg portion was decent. The lamington was also decent, and the service was very friendly with several apologies about the non-functioning IFE including CSM Ally individually going around to each pax and apologising. The Australian Juniors Rugby squad was onboard and the FO hopped on the PA to remind everyone that Qantas is a sponsor of the team, as well as welcoming the newest team member Tom which brought a smile to quite a few faces.

Is it proper pre-Covid trans-Tasman service now or still the toned down “Domestic Plus” version? I.e. are there printed menus, pre-departure champagne, cheese option for desert or is all of this still gone?

No printed menus, everything served on a single tray, no option for dessert (everyone gets the same boxed cake). Champagne was offered as PDB on both outbound & inbound legs though

Good to see. On my lax to melb flight they had no entree which I thought was odd. Perhaps due to timing but still. I had the salmon for main, terrible. I left most of it. Probably the worst catering I've had in qf j.

Yep, for about the last 5 or 6 years they have been classed as "supper flights". Even in the days of pre-order only one "plate" was available.

The food in the lounge was dreadful, no towels available either. Despite the excess of TV’s not one was showing the state of origin on Sunday night. Rookie error asking the bar staff if they could change it to which I got a “No.” Already having been scrutinised by the lounge dragon I couldn’t be bothered asking about changing the channel. Fortunately there were quite a few FIFO workers there who definitely didn’t share my social anxiety. After several strongly worded conversations to the staff on channel was eventually changed. Anyways onto the flight.

I was almost last on, probably my best boating experience with QANTAS 🤣. For the first time since the pandemic started I got a “welcome back,” instead of a welcome. Not sure why that stopped but anyways. Apparently the captain flying the return had gotten sick as another pilot was in 2D heading up to operate the return. No pre departure drink was offered. Santos pretzels and almonds after take off with a drink. 3 options for dinner, Pork with potatoes, Lasagne or a “rice,” salad which was actually the grain salad and only corrected once it became the only offering available. Everyone before me opted for the pork 1A-2C. As such I had the lasagne, I actually had high hopes given the overall good reviews on here but it was dreadful. It looked very good but was just mush. I only ate a few bites, it came with grain bread and a raspberry fondant cake. I believe ice cream was offered but I slept for most of the flight. The most interesting part of the flight was that we arrived at a non aerobridge bay at Darwin, bay 4 is closed and a virgin flight was delayed.

SIN - PER 26th June in J

Entree options - Plant based soup (can't remember flavour) or Prawn Skewer with noodles. Soup not bad, didn't like the skewer flavours.

Mains - Chicken Schnitzel toasted Sandwich, Pork Cutlet, Plant Option or Asian style fish.
Only options left for us were the pork or fish. Fish tasty, pork looked awful but I didn't try it.

Desert - cheese or ice cream.

That is piss poor. Not being able to read a room or have any concept of what sport might be on tv is one of my pet irks. It happens even in actual pubs and honestly shouldn’t be that hard to get right.

My favourite feature of the Adelaide Qantas club is they always seem to have the footy on the bar tv… and party pies at hand.

I had this same dish on Brisbane to Melbourne and it was disgraceful. I had no reservations in telling the CSM the same thing but based on his reaction I'm tipping that he'd heard it before!

QF9 - MEL-PER - 29/6 -15:15 dep

Champagne PDB, and refills offered very proactively.

I had the prawn papaya salad and lamb shank. Both were excellent.

Ice cream sandwich for dessert looked a bit sad in the packaging, but was fine otherwise.

QF161 - SYD - WLG - 30/6

Champagne PDB, and generally good service. Food options were the same as what @sudoer encounted on his trans-tasman; Black pepper beef and rice with green beans or Chicken in mushroom sauce with potato puree.

I do love asian dishes so I went with the black pepper beef, however unfortunately it was quite disappointing.

1656563788860.png

For one, where are the beans? Secondly, the beef didn't taste all that great sadly (and I couldn't really taste the black pepper part of it).

‘plant-based dining’ *is* just a totally pretentious label for ‘vegetarian’. I was expecting a massive jump in creativity and innovation with all the advertising… but not to be :(

Do you (or anyone else for that matter) happen to have a QF69 menu as I'm on it in just over a weeks time. Apologies if you posted this already, however from searching I couldn't find it.
