Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Interesting. I have not, specifically ex-SIN (as of mid Nov) and pre-covid ex-HKG. I had thought that given the minimal options and the fact that the flight time is often sub 7 hours that no breakfast card made sense.

Coming from Japan makes sense to have one given the longer flight time.

I did on QF24 from BKK last night. And for me it worked perfectly because I slept for 6 hours after takeoff and had it put down in front of me within seconds of the crew seeing I was awake.

QF39 MEL-CGK 24/11

Flew Y bulkhead, so was able to go to J cabin while waiting for doors to open and snapped pics of the J menu beside the empty seats. Have an upgrade pending for the return, fingers crossed!

Wow QR lounge food looks even better than what was on offer when I was there early 2020
Yeah QR lounge SIN food slaps. Would definitely make time for an ala carte dinner if I had another opportunity to fly *O J ex-SIN.

I've gotten breakfast cards flying QF ex-CGK pre-COVID. also got them when I flew ex-SIN twice in 2022.

QF741 SYD - ADL 26/11/23

20+ minutes delay. Boarding chaotic. People cutting lines to get through the gate. Why?

Pleasant FAs introduced themselves on boarding however no pre-departure drink offered.

Meal was a choice of pumpkin soup (see previous reviews regarding soups...), cheese platter and this Angus beef pie. Mash was average but the pie itself was great. I admit I was looking forward to something hearty and this was probably one of the best domestic meals I've had in awhile. Bread and butter always nice and the chocolate bar quality too. Had the white wine to finish up. Overall quite good but still a little triggered about the boarding situation which sits outside of rating of this meal.

SYD-MEL on the "Storms from hell" day. What a chaos everywhere with the bed weather around in all the three big cities! Ended up getting canceled and re-booked several times, in the end made it out of Sydney just half an hour before the curfew and after about 6 hours in the Sydney Domestic J lounge (the joy!). Originally booked as a Dinner flight in the early evening, this was now clearly not dinner time anymore and hence choices pretty dismal for a Business class meal: Cheese plate (really- that's a desert, not a meal!), mushroom soup (that one's a starter, not a main meal) and the "Ham and Cheese" toastie. I was in 3A and scored the last on of those, the rest of row 3 missed out.

Toastie.jpg

Turns out that this was a pretty mean toastie though the sourdough on the side was a carb overload of course. However, it actually was NOT a simple Ham and Cheese toastie but had pastrami on it. I then noticed that there was also sauerkraut and mustard so it was actually Qantas' attempt at a Reuben sandwich (I'm pretty sure!) and quite yummie I found. Funny just that the crew got that name completely wrong.

Wine was some alright-ish but cheap Peter Lehmann Shiraz but I only got one glass as we encountered quite bad turbulence. I was grateful that the crew offered to at least pour the rest into a plastic cup for landing. All in all an alright flight, given the circumstances. At least I've made it in one piece- my lugaagge is still not here though. And Qantas still can't find it even though my AirTag happily tells me that it's still in Sydney T3. Somewhere!

Meals are atrocious and getting worse (if thats possible). A lot to be said about eating in the lounge and sleeping on board :)
I disagree to be honest. At least on Asian routes, I feel J meals are getting better. They're still not where they should be, but I feel like they've gone from bad to OK.

MEL-OOL lunch. This dish doesn't look very appealing I understand. It was described as "chicken breast in a creamy sauce with vegetables and potato" - I have to say the chicken was tender and moist. the sauce.. whatever it was was just fine. Not sure it added too much to the meal, but helped keep the chicken moist I guess. The few veg were OK too. It was filling enough in a comfort food kind of way. Other options were a "salmon salad" and a soup - mushroom iirc. Wine was shaw+smith sauv blanc.

QF642 Per-Syd. Options were ham and cheese croissant, frittata or bircher muesli.
Went with the muesli which was half decent and light enough to have a nap after.
Later was given some shortbread cookies as a pre-landing snack

Oh, I was just reminded that I flew OOL-SYD a couple of days ago, an 11:50a scheduled departure (and actually left on time lol). Anyway the CSM came through and semi apologies to pax when giving the meal options. He said something like "Since we're scheduled just before midday, we have a morning refreshment for you..." - and the way he spoke it definitely felt like an apology of sorts and really this should be lunch (given flight arrives 2:20pm in SYD). Anyway the option was a frittata and something else that I forget. I didn't partake. There was, however, a very decent sauv blanc :)

Great photo but sadly the subject matter disappoints. A very small piece of bread and a $15-$20 pie with chocolate etc for a very expensive J fare.

I also note the many toasties that are being presented subsequent to this photo.

I know that I shouldn't expect dinner at a fancy restaurant in the sky but I don't think I'm being unreasonable expecting more than what is being offered (esp. at these prices).
