Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Has anyone been on QF11 lately in J? I've been trying to monitor this thread for posts, but I haven't seen any.
I assume with the new timing it's still Lunch/Dinner and Breakfast?

(Hoping on a Y+->J upgrade next week)

Menu for QF41 SYD > CGK.

Probably won't have the food photos as I plan on asking the CSM to swap with my partner so ill move back to Y.

QF296. Looked alright, but I skipped dinner as ate in the lounge and just wanted to sleep.

Breakfast card had 3 options. Let me snooze, select whatever you like and be server 90 minutes before landing or select 1 drink and 1 item and be served 60 minutes before landing.

Sydney Adelaide mid morning flight:

This must be the most disappointing Qantas meal I’ve had in years! Purser was one of those “Dad jokes” kinda guy who thought he was really funny but alas, no humour there at all. Spend about half an hour chit chatting with the bloke in 1C before finally serving the rest of the cabin which is always a good start.

After enduring the always horrid Sydney Domestic “Business” lounge, I was genuinely keen for some decent food. But, no, Qantas deems this delayed 11:35am departure way too early for a proper lunch (it was about 12:30 once I got finally served) so the “choice” of three is-called dishes was:

A salad of bright neon pink cooked salmon which smelled like Sydney fish market when you cross the Anzac bridge in the morning 🤢, two scones with clotted cream and jam (this is NOT a meal choice, Qantas, and would be an insult in Economy- also, what’s with this British Airways nonsense on an Australian flight?) or a “Vegetable sandwich on Turkish”. In lieu of anything else edible, I went for the latter and it was even worse than I thought as the so-called vegetables were mostly pumpkin. Pumpkin is not even a vegetable in my book but a sad prop for Halloween and it tasted as disgusting as it sounds.

In case this wasn’t enough carbs, there was also a sugary pastry on the side which was ice cold thanks to Mr. Chit chat and a lame muesli bar. Not good enough for a two hour flight in Business class, not good enough at all! Refreshing to see how everything gets better with the new CEO… Not.

Well you willingly paid for it (out of your own pocket). Enough times to reach the platinum status. who's at fault here 🤭🤭
my goto motto is: whY's don't disappoint 🤣

I was 3 weeks ago. It’s dinner service followed by breakfast.

That sandwich looks very sad 😕

Adelaide Perth, early afternoon flight:

After my pretty average flight from Sydney, this second flight of the day was much better. Three meal choices of which two had seafood/fish in it which I cannot eat so I was left with the lamb stew. As per usual on Qantas, the meat was more akin to old mutton but the meal otherwise fine, liked the fried potato wedges on the side and there was a decent side salad thing-y too. Picked out the pumpkin (what’s with Qantas new obsession with pumpkin- is this the new kale? Disgusting!) and then it was rather nice (peas, roasted cauliflower, some lettuce and a nice slice of parma ham- worlds above the infamous Neil Perry fizzles).

But best on this flight was the service- rather senior and professional but super friendly and efficient, exactly how I like Qantas crew. Generous refills of wine and other beverages offered throughout the flight and just when I thought I’m getting too stuffed, a Maggie Beer ice cream tub landed in my lap. I find Maggie Beer branded products generally majorly overrated because it’s all cheap mass produced supermarket stuff- I counted no less than nine (!!!) E-numbers in this little tub of so-called “ice cream- but it was ice cream so I could not resist nevertheless.

For being on a 737 which is always a bit of a letdown on any flight longer than 2 hours, it was a pretty good experience. Staff is really what makes or breaks a flight in my experience and Qantas quite often excels in this.
