Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Saturday 25 May QF 157 MEL-AKL 18.30 departure. I think the standard of business class meals has declined in recent times and is an embarrassment. When I’m paying close to $2,000 return I expect a better meal than something I would get from a shopping centre food court for $10.
Catering on the trans-Tasman has been woefully inadequate since they’ve swapped away from “proper” international service post Covid. And you probably were on a 737 also which is a way inferior seat to the frequent A330s runs which used to be offered on the route and JetConnect staff which tend to be younger on average and less experienced than proper Qantas mainline crew (less pay, of course, why else  ). This used to be okay prior to Covid but there was evidently lots of staff shuffle over the pandemic and I’ve noticed a big slide in service quality- had a few of those “lazies” chit chat in the galley for ages while J class seats hadn’t have their trays cleared for what seemed ages on my last two flights as well.

Burrata for entree, snapper for main, chocolate mousse for dessert.

The burrata was great. The snapper a bit dry/overcooked, corn puree was delicious though. Chocolate mousse also delicious. Wine top ups could have been a bit more forthcoming. Bar service with a bag of nuts to get things started. Interestingly my partner received almonds in a small dish.

Scrambled eggs and potato rosti for breakfast. View attachment 386315

Pretty good flight overall.
Hello corn, see you tomorrow.

Should have been an A220 but was subbed out to a 717 at the last minute and then delayed.

There was one meal choice, a Thai pork curry with pineapple and coconut cream.

Many of the passengers in J on this flight did not eat pork for religious reasons, so this meal wasn’t suitable for them.

Really inappropriate to have no options.

Although surely those with dietary restrictions would have selected that option in their booking? Or is that not available for domestic J?

You can select a special meal on
Domestic J.
And I would have thought that is the sensible thing to do if you have dietary requirements.

Pork is one of the things I find even worse than Great Northern. Awful stuff.
