Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It didn't feel like international J class on a premium(?) carrier.

And this is an airline trying to recover its reputation and the CEO promising an improvement in meals and service.

I feel so sorry for the flight crew having to be at the sharp end of the customer interface when it’s the management that’s the root cause of the problems.

I agree. Looks cheap. I would compare the tray to something from economy, but you don't even get that down the back.

Cheap?! Surely that's a real italian marble inlay on the IKEA canteen tray which is brought out, no???

Are they trying to soften us up for ALL courses on the tray? Smaller portions to fit everything on equals money saved

I thought the tray may be being used because it makes the main plate look less small.

Maybe the tray makes it easier to serve for the staff
Also cleaning easier

The trays on VA domestic business ended up developing a bit of a bubble/bulge, so the plates don’t sit flat on the tray. Ends up being a bit like playing that board game Trouble with “the pop-o-matic bubble” when you press the knife down to cut your food. I guess that was possibly from cheaper plastic being put into high temperature dishwashers. Hope the same doesn’t happen for these trays.

Looking at the pics, reminds me of Eddie Izzard’s Death Star Canteen routine.. “You need a tray…” (worth looking up if you haven’t seen it.. hilarious!!)
