Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF43. Spot the difference. Service was a lot faster this time thankfully, maybe because it's a shorter route? Beef was quite a bit more overcooked.

Has the order which the meal orders are taken changed with this service as well? I've recalled for ages that the FA's would dance around the cabin taking orders, I believe based on status or maybe PCV? It seemed more like row by row from my last two flights.
I'm now pretty sure the service order has changed on international J. FA's just go from row 1 downwards taking orders now. I know some people probably don't care, but high status at the back of J and you might not get your choice.

Many here rave about QR, but several recent flights this year and the food has been awful but the service is top notch. I think I’d prefer relaxed and edible.
I didn’t do QR in the past year so that’s really disappointing to hear. Finnair J is my current fave - superb dining, superb service on four out of four flights.

Unlike the ME3, AY is completely analogous to QF, so it makes the QF all the more disappointing. I mean, coughpy service in First?

I’m sorry, I know this is OT but it just brings the standard that’s exhibited throughout this thread into relief.

I’ve not done AY for a while, but it was generally pretty good F&B and crew. I miss the days of Elk and Reindeer being regulars on the menu but our fav was an early morning flight - I think it was out of HKG - the the FA asked if we wanted champagne. So which we said, “Is it too early?” and she correctly said “It’s never too early for champagne!”. A very enjoyable flight from there.

As for QF, I have no significant complaints about QF J service. Multiple Asia flights, SCL and YVR have all been good. Actually a real hoot of a trip on QF1 up in the lounge on SYD-SIN. Got a bit tipsy up in the lounge.

Ironically, the AY wetlease home was pretty ordinary but the seat was fine.

As a Platinum on the recent QF12 they still took my order first in the A380 mini cabin at least.

QF37 22/12/24

PDB was a bit delayed so champagne was slightly delayed. Not that I wanted any as not a fan of the Duval-Leroy. But was still offered early enough before push back. It was not sufficiently chilled later when I had some to go with the nuts.

Had the dumplings and yes the sauce had a good kick offset well with the pickles. Would eat it again. The fish was acceptable. Nothing fancy but at least not overcooked. So a pass from me. The service was slightly slower I felt between the appetizer and mains and then dessert. Wine was ok for mains. A bit watery (not a technical wine term but that’s how I would describe it layman). Had the cheese course but when I expressed disinterest in the Chivas whisky, Karen my FA said she’ll have another look. Looks like they found a more decent drop to go with the cheese course. Even offered seconds after. But it was nap time for me.

Captain Ziad came by for a personal welcome and very friendly crew service and even dropped by later before disembarkation. Very proactive service regular offers of snacks, water, whisky etc. even when lights were out. Just had to make eye contact. Meal before landing was the noodles. Nice kick of spicy again. Even had the fruit course as I did not know how to say no 😅.

QF151 MEL>AKL. Breakfast. This is bacon and egg thing with other things. The bacon was decent, egg not sure if it had any egg actually in it and that little cake on the left I'm also not sure what it was. Watermelon was nice though but not disappointed I ate in the lounge.

QF60 HND-SYD.

Dinner:

Chicken was excellent:

I skipped dessert but here’s the white chocolate mousse which Miss H said was “pretty good but the strawberry syrup in it wasn’t too good.”

Breakfast

Cabin lights were still off for breakfast service so no pictures.

But I can assure you the “green goddess sauce” is god awful.

QF33 SYD-PER

Started with a Tommy's margarita - very sweet!

1000020827.jpg

Followed by the lamb shoulder. Tasty but the potatoes were a little cold.

Finished with icecream which hit the spot.

I've noticed staff love to clear away glassware even if you're a third of your way still to go.

QF9 23/12 - menu
IMG_0411.jpeg

starter of soup (not pictured) was pretty underwhelming and didn’t taste of anything. The steak was slightly overcooked and the salsa tasted overpoweringly acidic but still had some juice in it and the polenta tasted nice.
IMG_0415.jpeg

The dessert was quite nice, despite my skepticism over olive oil as a primary element.
IMG_0416.jpeg

Breakfast was nice, the french toast was light and tasty without being overpowered by sweetness.

They also plastered us with chocolates from Lindt and Koko Black.

Have to say I do like some of the new Santos nut / corn / cracker mixes. Have scoffed (and smuggled off) a few in recent weeks.

Breakfast of champions!

Indeed!

There actually wasn't alcohol on the cart - 0530 departure - but I overheard it being offered to someone in Row 1; the FA slipped back to the galley and grabbed it from the cold cart there.

My alarm had gone off at 2am to make that flight, and I'd had just 3 hrs sleep, so I thought it was just what I needed to start the day.
