Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

My understanding (from unofficial sources) is that there is a pool of priority phone numbers that airport staff give to passengers which rotates every few weeks.

I will attempt to publish the currently active number(s) in this post:

1300 304 318
1300 659 161
1300 025 396
1300 659 116

1300 024 715
1300 025 390
1300 659 115
1300 659 134
1300 659 502

but don't include London International Airport, Ontario (YXU) - that may be stretching things.

anyway I don't think any of those places has a QF call centre :D

Anyhoo, lol, one thing I totally forgot to mention to Barry, was that my sister's funds were refunded to her bank account, and as a result, I guess the flights are no longer paid for?
I am totally confused to be honest. She reckons when she was speaking to Fiji this morning (before I spoke to NZ call centre) whoever it was told her the entire trip was cancelled, and that the money had been returned. My sister told me she checked and it was (but it is complete news to me that anyone would get a refund that quickly, and into their bank account when they paid using Visa debit - although, I guess that's what a Visa debit card does, uses your bank account, so ignore that)
But I forgot to mention that to Barry when he reinstated everything. No idea what has to be done now, probably another phone call.

Note that SWF (Newburgh/Stewart Field) and ISP (Macarthur/Islip on Long Island) are also NYC-area airports with scheduled air carrier service (currently only low-cost carriers, although AA did serve SWF at one point in its past).
SWF is a decent trek from NYC proper. I remember flying Norwegian (remember them?) from SWF to EDI back in January 2019 on a 737MAX, aka the Queen of the Beans! The bus ride was just over an hour and the airport did not have TSA pre-check lanes. On the positive side they did have a Quiznos land-side along with a small pub and duty free air-side. Pity there was no Lufthansa Senator lounge!

Just a heads up that while one of the ‘1300’ numbers will get you to some sort of ‘specialist’ team, they will be unable to help you if you have a partner issued award. This was a same day flight disruption and I was told to contact the issuing airline, even though it was out of hours and long queue times with the issuing airline meant I would have missed by original Qantas flight.

The call centre advised that unless I contact the issuing airline I ‘will not be allowed to fly’. Did not understand ‘airport control’, or ‘same day disruption’. HUACA yielded the same results.

Of course the airport just put me on the next available, but that’s four hours away… time I could have been at home instead of stuck at the airport.

Sorry to say but the off-shore call centres are very disappointing.

HUACA 3 times today until I got to Hobart.

I find the "new options" to be a bit long winded. A lot of companies seem to think that drilling down to the reason for the call will speed things up, even though you will land within the same call centre anyway.

I’m not totally averse to multiple menus if it means I get through to someone well trained in my particular issue. I remember years ago having trouble with a new internet connection at home with one of the big ISPs. It took a couple of calls but once I memorised the option sequence I knew how to bypass frontline staff to get through to engineering to get the issue sorted.

If only Qantas’ system meant that if you could indicate you have (say) an award booking that needs attention and would ensure you could get through to Hobart or one of the small number of excellent overseas agents who do actually have the capability to not lie to you nor bugger things up on complex bookings. Supposedly something like this is in the works, but time will tell.

Thinking about calling QF to get a codeshare flight changed (HNL-LAX), what are a my chances of getting someone competent , and a)managing to book my alternative flight
b)not having my whole itinerary cancelled.
Really regretting not going through a TA now..

If you paid for it with dollars, you have a good chance. It is reward flights that seem to cause most difficulty.
