Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

My understanding (from unofficial sources) is that there is a pool of priority phone numbers that airport staff give to passengers which rotates every few weeks.

I will attempt to publish the currently active number(s) in this post:

1300 304 318
1300 659 161
1300 025 396
1300 659 116

1300 024 715
1300 025 390
1300 659 115
1300 659 134
1300 659 502

Brief update, still no ticket.
Called today in the morning, reached SA again, guy on the phone said he “fixed” the issue and sent it off to ticketing.
Let’s wait and see
Given that you are Platinum, why are you not HUACA until you get Hobart?

Rang QF SYD lost property some months ago. It no longet answers and there is a recorded message saying to leave a recorded message with about 20 specified details about your flight and lost property in no particular order, do not ring back, and hope for the best. This is the new QF at its worst. Needless to say, I left a message, specifying exact;y where the expensive headphones were left, waited some months and heard nothing. At least if they had an online form there was some acknowledgement that at least you'd tried. This is the new QF at its absolute worst.

Mrs Pineapple bought me a new set of headphones for Xmas after tutting quite a lot (the lost ones were a birthday present from her).

Cheers

Day of weekMon 9 Jan
Time of call13:30
Number used131313
StatusPlatinum
Hold time~2 minutes
Call Centre (if known)South Africa (complete with the usual background noise)
Matter resolvedYes, with some difficulty
DetailsTrying to move a friend travelling on a different PNR up front next to me (not usually selectable with their status).
Agent said this was not possible, but after some convincing and suggestions that I had done it before, they were able to do it after a very long time on hold.

Call took 25 minutes though, which is way too long to move a single seat.

Rang up last night, 20 min hold, got through to South Africa, unwilling to help at all ("well what do you want me to do about it?" )but eventually convinced them to look for some availability. Was ealing with a classic award booking I was trying to make using multi-city tool SIN-DPS-SYD-MEL that errored out when confirming, they couldn't even see the SIN-DPS sector 🤷‍♂️so gave up.

Got through to MNL this morning, almost immediately, and after an initial hiccup of starting to search for BRI instead of DPS ( hint: Bari instead of Bali) they weren't able to see a SYD-MEL connection within MCT. In the end despite loads of SYD-MEL availability I figured it was a married sector issue that was causing it to cancel out and for the agent not to see any availability, except with a 9 hr connection.

Very helpful agent (Barry) from Auckland call centre helped resolved an issue for my sister with a MEL > LAX > SFO booking. As they haven't received her daughter's passport yet, she can't enter anyone's passport numbers or any other API info, and the American domestic leg (Alaskan Air) kept dropping off. Barry was able to enter all the info and bypass the passport field, and issue e-tickets. Prior to this, the regular call centre had not been able to assist, so it was well worth calling the platinum number.

JFK and La Guardia service the same city, New York.

But LAX is in Los Angeles (dump of a place) and SFO services San Francisco (a much more pleasant place to be) some 600kms north; they are in no way the same place.

Its like saying you want to stay in Melbourne but flying into Adelaide (which is only a fraction further than LAX to SFO)

SFO is just the secondary airport for Los Angeles in one of the outer suburbs. But I know we like to pretend they are different like Perth and Freo.

Not at all. There are suburban airports near LAX like Long Beach but SFO can never be considered one.

SFO and OAK both service the Bay Area and can be interchangeable; but never with LAX unless you want to be driving for 6-7 hours or so.

Do you mean SNA or John Wayne airport in an LA suburb? SFO is definitely San Francisco.
