Re: Your chance to join Qantas Loyalty for lunch.

Perhaps it's just a typo, but I've found something odd in the features list:

* Q-chip enabled for Smarter, Faster Check-in at the airport✝

✝Available at Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane only.

Does the card use a new RFID frequency/protocol for the Q-chip check-in, which is only compatible with devices found in the golden triangle (and not those found in Adelaide and Perth, amongst others)?

We're very excited by this, and happy to finally share some details. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences using the new card. :)

Looking forward to getting the card and doing some research on its uses. Does seem very competitive to Virgins' Global Wallet from what has been posted here.

Now to see if the PDS or website answers any of the questions I posed for the Rockpool competition...

The FAQs on qantascash.com state that "Faster, Smarter Check-in is only available in some Australian domestic airports", without specifying individual ports. Please let me know where you're seeing this so I can follow up.

Re: Your chance to join Qantas Loyalty for lunch.

If you browse from a mobile device (in my case, an iPhone 4S), it's on the homepage at http://www.qantascash.com

The cross appears on the last point in the first image, and in bold in the second (on the same page).

Good to hear that it's just a mistake. :)

Re: Your chance to join Qantas Loyalty for lunch.

So happy to share my 3 questions about Qantas Cash (I'm sure they are winners):

1) Why doesn't Qantas publish a PDS?

2) Why doesn't Qantas publish a PDS?

3) Why doesn't Qantas publish a PDS?
Looks like your prayers have been answered :D

How about stowing the "prize" and put it into employing or contracting some-one competent to design the QF web site? THAT would earn Qantas far more favorable coverage than a silly "Qantas Cash" stunt.
Again, I think your question has been swiftly settled - seems that they were doing it even as you typed this...

That seems to be surprisingly favourable. I'll have to do a decent comparison with my OxForex card before my next O/S trip.

Well, one major improvement over the OzForex card is the ability to pay for something out of multiple wallets :). OzForex will use an alternative wallet if there are insufficient funds in the chosen wallet but will not split a single transaction over multiple wallets.

I'm not wild about the inactivity fee though :(.

Me either. I guess $1/month isn't much but it's after 12 months of inactivity which means you're less likely to realise its happening (unless they notify you, which I'd be surprised if they did).

The post office one is at least $2.50. So this is an improvement and one of my questions answered. :)

Here are my questions to the brains trust (QF or AFF members):

1. In the future, will foreign cash be considered able be credited to the card to one of the 9 currency sub-accounts, rather than just via POLi or BPAY?

2. Are you going to print the two sides of the card like the VA card?

3. What safeguards and processes are in place for cards lost when overseas?

To comment on Q1, we often have residual cash after trips (I'm sitting on 3 currencies now) and rather than convert back to AUD and then back into one of the nine currencies on the card, if I have cash in one of the eligible currencies now, I would prefer not to lose on the two currency exchanges in order to be able to use the funds via Qantas Cash.

As a comment on Q2, I hope not, I would prefer the card to be flipped sidewise and be able to read the card without having to rotate it - it also would mean that the signature for the MasterCard side and the magnetic strip on the FF side are in the same position and easier to ensure that they don't get degraded.

Finally on Q3, I presume that if QFF Service Centre are advised of a lost Qantas Cash card, that the member cannot transact using the sub-accounts as the card will be frozen. What process will be in place for a replacement card to be issued?

<Snip>

Why sure, there's the link - in the fine print footnote on the 'fees and charges' page. Super!

Effective 19th July.

Wot? They've fixed the QF web site and there won't be any more glitches / rolling functionality outages? Hooray!

Haven't looked too closely at the T& C, but is it just me who finds the following amusing....why DID they choose that example currency I wonder.....

"What exchange rate applies to Qantas Cash™?"

....
The MasterCard[SUP]®[/SUP] wholesale foreign exchange rate plus a currency conversion fee of 3% of the transaction value will apply when a currency conversion is required to complete a purchase transaction or ATM withdrawal.
For example:
• If you transact in a currency that is not available on the card, eg. Brazilian Reals;

I have searched the FAQ but couldn't find the answer

Does the card support Mastercard secure code for online transactions?
