Qantas Cash Issues

Maybe I'm just thick but I don't see where the risk is.

The cash card is unactivated by default - it has no function whatsoever.

Even if a thief did activate it, I still don't see where the risk is. It's not like it's automatically linked to your bank account. They would have to load their own money onto it first.

some beat up that the card could be used to launder money. card activation only requires driver licence - which could be in stolen wallet along with the card.

It probably could, as would a number of other products easily obtained if you had money to launder :p

Honestly can't see the issue.

Perhaps the banks are upset and have started all this in the background ;)

As I understand it an issue arises when the card is not activated but your personal details are stolen, along with the card. For example, if you lose your wallet 99 times in 100 you're also using things like your driver's license and other cards. A thief can then use what they find in your wallet to activate the cash card, load it with funds an do bad things with it. Yes, obviously a bank can trace where the money has come from but if it's off-shore or in a country where Australia doesn't enjoy diplomatic relations then it might be difficult to get any resolution. A person could well find their name associated with financing bad things and maybe blacklisted in places. I would agree it's a remote possibility but I think a fair part of the article's focus was also on the failure of ASIC to do anything, something they've been accussed of on numerous occasions and in no small part the genesis to the current senate inquiry into its performance.

Read this just when I was thinking of starting to use it. Oh well, QF will just have to miss out, not locking up my money.

A good move on your part and a warning to all. If you have an issue with the card and try to ring any (or as I did all) the contact numbers available you will find that to speak to a human being is almost impossible. There are endless options but no "speak to a consultant". The only way I was offered a real person was by pushing the option for "report a lost or stolen card" and even then after 5+ minutes of "your call is important to us" I gave up and left a message for a call back. That wasted 16 minutes to leave a message. The outcome was a stuff up at their end declined a transaction to the merchant but approved the transaction on my account (where there was plenty of MY money) so MY money was locked up in limbo while they had to contact the merchant and get my funds released.

SWMBO recently had an issue while in Germany and I tried to fix it by contacting them for her and after the endless options I reached a human being only to be told they would deal with her directly by phoning her in Germany and working it out. I provided the contact details and she never heard a thing from them. Great service when their system fails and ties up your own money !! She has cancelled her card and I expect I will do likewise as soon as I run down the foreign currency I have on the card - too much to just convert and close as they will once again be the winners.

REDROO WHERE ARE YOU PLEASE!

Eventually was able to activate the card after 5 screen refreshes and finally accepting FF number yesterday....did attempt to contact qantas Cash team via phone but the 6 presses required(press 3, press 3, number entered, date of birth, press 3, press some other number) but gained access on someone answering phone.

So I then Bank transferred the money at 10am yesterday(Wednesday)
Today at 0900hrs, type in the info required to loggin in and ERROR?
Rang Qantas Cash entered all the info as above on touch phone and then answered another 3 security questions to be informed 1. Money not in account as yet. 2. Qantas cash confirm I activated the card yesterday. 3. Qantas cash team unable to access account aswell?

Asked that this be expedited to IT and also informed money should be in account by close of business today which is more than 24hrs!

Did not ask for compensation(I note I missed the 500 points signup in September) but not a happy Qantas Cash Customer at present :(

Did you set up the 6 alpha and 2 numeric codes though, that is one of the main gist of this QCC thingo.
That is the only time when I can thing an error message would come up.
XxAxx_00 if you get my drift.
It will ask for the 3, 5, 8 and you have type AX0, if you type xA0, you get error.
If I type the correct sequence, I have not had an error, yet.

I have a few standing direct debit authorities from my QCC, and have quite a few pending transactions, 3 in fact when in the past there has been one pending, and then it goes through.
For about 14 or so days, it says, in All Currencies, about 3 or 4 organisations, that have pending with the transactions.
Maybe its time to use QCC only for spending in shops, and not ongoing direct debit authorisations.
And I dont mean hotel authorisations at that.
29Oct ABC pending $10
29Oct ABC pending $10
29Oct ABC pending $10
28Oct Coles Adelaide $7.99
25Oct DEF pending $10
25Oct DEF pending $10
25Oct DEF pending $10
23Oct GHI pending $10
23Oct GHI pending $10
23Oct GHI pending $10
The Coles one, where the $7.99 was made, that one has been processed, bu the 23Oct one with pending on it, usually things in a week would have been processed.
OR I might have to ring and pass the id checks at QCC.
The last time, I successfully got to someone at QCC, it sounded like the call centre was overseas.

Qantas Cash did experience some intermittent issues yesterday with their website and app. However we've been advised that this has since been rectified, so I'm not sure if your experience is related.

Should you still require assistance, please send me a private message with your details as reference. Your patience is appreciated during this time.

Positive email stating funds in account.
I made my purchase and approved.

Still have no access to online Qantas Cash account so PM sent!

Still no access to online Qantas Cash account....
Error message still posting on attempted login.

I would recommend you get back on to them, as I am able to login OK so it is quite possible there is an issue related to your account.

Received phonecall but missed it and went to voicemail at 1800hrs...Qantas cash to discuss Login issue...no number to call left...what time do they close?

Called them to today and reassured issue will be resolved tomorrow to allow me access?

Will report back.

Well thumbs down as got a basically you get nothing(email to say nothing for you, but you now have access to use the card) for all your time, calls and patience to actually regain access to this card from Qantas...did I mention the time and expense incurred in placing calls to followup customer support......
Anyway Redroo......Nancy's email seemed cut and paste....

Does anyone know if you can use the Qantas Cash card in an Australia post EFTPOS machine to make a payment and not get charged any additional fee?

IF any of you colleagues ever have to/need to stay at the Novotel Auckland Airport Hotel, dont at all use your QCC there, use another card if you have to stay at the hotel.
For some reason, they dont like the QCC and will cause unpteen trouble when you next use your card.
They will accept a Visa Debit which is lucky.
Just like my previous purchase at BP in a suburban Adelaide outlet, the person behind the desk at the Novotel tried to process the card twice, and the PIN I knew in my head, was right.
Twice he tried, (the card was working just fine in the past-an upgrade to PS which I have used several times), and I didnt think twice about it.
Tried it again for a small bpay, and the whole thing (QCC) got declined.
I have a SG card now, activated it, and the recorded girls (British) voice says, the card number ending in xx_x is activated.
Novotel Auckland Airport is $$$ expensive, and most wouldnt stay there and pay their rate through the nose, but if you are provided with a nights accommodation there, use another card to pay for any minibar/restaurant/movies expenses, and yes, also don't use QCC for credit card deposit there either.
