Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Anybody know what range of vehicles are in use at LHR and MEL?

SWMBO and I are flying F LHR-MEL QF10 as a relocation so we'll have an insane amount of luggage (still actually trying to work out my allowance as a WP with a ticket bought pre the baggage changes in March for anyone who can opine). I understand we could potentially order one car each, but we will be transporting golf clubs, snowboard and a road bike along with umpteen suitcases. Any idea if we can get a van as the second car (or even two vans)? And I guess the same would apply on arrival too, so any thoughts on how to line up two vans (or a combination of van+car) in MEL?

When they call you up to confirm the bookings, that's the time to raise this issue.

From what I learned off the drivers (Oz, DXB, AMS), they have only limos, not vans.

They may outsource a van (or two) for you on request.

They could always say NO but who knows !

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Only to and from ADL has come up on the Asia booking, unlike my next flight to LAX where it is coming up for ADL and LAX.

It looks like QF had the work experience kids operating the website again yesterday. Chauffeur drive has now disappeared from my Asia booking :( Wonder what will happen about the reservations I made yesterday :?:

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Anyone know where the chauffeur desk is at LHR ?

Did I miss the answer to this one? Is the Chauffeur desk in LHR T3 somewhere near the down ramp to the trains, or somewhere obscure?

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Yes you can change the time when the Chauffeur company rings you to confirm a couple of days before

Thanks. And so it came to pass. They rang today, time changed no problem

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Hi All,first post long time reader, used the service for the first time when returning from Dubai to Melbourne,
when I booked on line I expected to be told I lived outside the zone, but the booking was accepted.
On arrival in to Melbourne I was met by the Driver and as we walked to the car I was told I would have to pay $55, I didn't mind but I thought I should have been alerted when I made the booking, not as I walking to a car.

Anyone know where the chauffeur desk is at LHR ?

OK, have now done this and it's all too easy. The chauffeur desk is visible immediately you come out of the doors after baggage collection. Turn left out the door and the desk is more or less straight ahead, approx 30 metres or so, well signed.

Just had chauffeur drive at LHR and our "limo" was a Mercedes van, 6 seats and room for loads of luggage. So I guess at least at LHR this option would be available if you requested it.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

My chauffeur drive experience was excellent both in Mel and on arrival in CPH. However my concern is more the pickup next week in WAW. Does anyone know if the call or email to confirm beforehand? I would prefer they didn't call my roaming phone but if that is what's done then so be it.

Thanks asg29e, appreciate the heads up. Looking forward to my upcoming QF1 trip in J - should be special from pick up to set down.

I've just had this confirmed by the ever helpful P1 desk. Makes sense as I live 15 mins from airport and first leg is domestic.

QF Chauffeur Drive @ DXB

This is similar to the arrangement at DXB.

The QF / EK 'chauffer' desk is just outside the exit door post baggage collection.

There is no one holding your name.

You have to walk up to the desk and they will allocate a 'voucher' for you with your nominated destination.

Then you present that voucher to one (of many) drivers standing outside the door to be taken to your car.

I guess for large hubs (DXB, LHR, ? LAX) that is the case as there was a driver holding my name up in smaller AMS (like SYD).

Good arrangement QF !

Competition does work sometimes.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Also looking forward to this, have departure in SYD, arrivals and departure in DXB, departure in FRA and an arrival in SYD booked in now :-)

Actually that would work quite well in LHR. Instead of having to move through swiftly because someone is waiting with your name on a board, you can take the time to unwind, refresh yourself, and go to the desk when you are ready.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Anyone had experience with requesting a baby capsule? Mrs Scheps and baby Scheps are likely to take a trip in July to and fro MEL.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

We have a booking in J from Melb-Syd-DFW-EWR. We are returning in Y.

There is only an option to select chauffeur service 'to' the airport. We cannot select 'from' the airport. Does this seem correct?

Yes.

Go and check the official site, where the link has been posted upthread. It'll probably have something to do with your final arriving flight number.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

When at the European end of a trip, does anyone call or email to confirm pickup from the hotel? Just need to know whether or not to turn on my mobile and accept a roaming call. Thanks.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

Red Roo, can we get a response on the disappearance of the JFK services?
