Qantas Chauffeur service - General Questions/Advice

You can book one car for each J or F ticket - so a party of four can book four cars if that's what they want.

Just go to MMB and book CD for each pax on the PNR or if they are on separate PNR's then book one car per PNR. :)

We travel as a party of 4 on one PNR. Have always made separate bookings for CD - never received a phone call. However, they've magically worked out we only ever needed one large SUV ... well organised, or just plain dumb luck?

There you go!
Why "FrustratedQP", by the way?

I bought life QP for SWMBO and I, then Qantas started closing QP's inc. OOL where a lot of our travel passed through. They replaced many routes with Jetstar equipment and then closed the QP in T2. I was just frustrated because my QP membership was being continually 'enhanced'.

Yes, landside. I think all Arrivals Lounges are? (Stand to be corrected.)

Correct. As you exit Customs etc head right and there is a lift on the right hand side. Level 3.

it would pay yo head to the QD desk first which is to the left of the exit, with a sign above, next to Virgin Atlantic.

:) Yes, I know where the Arrivals Lounge is, LarryM.

Was actually double checking my statement that ALL Arrivals Lounges are landside. To the best of my knowledge, they are. Certainly, all those I've visited have been. And a pleasure to have them to visit, after a long haul flight.

[Unless, of course, you have had the absolute indulgence of flying EK F on the A380, and don't need an arrival shower! :)]

Hmmm. I see the trail.... :)

This has probably been answered upthread, but if you have a domestic "connection" the day before with an overnight, can you book the Chauffer Drive to and from all ports?

E.g. BNE-SYD day 1, SYD-DXB day 2. Chauffer to BNE, chauffer from SYD, chauffer to SYD, chauffer from DXB.

When you go into your booking and click on the Chauffeur Drive menu, it will specify your eligible flights to and from the relevant airports. You should check but I would be very surprised if you were eligible for two transfers in Sydney.

It lets me book it as its on a different day. My concern is that despite the system that it won't actually stick and we'll end up sans transportation...

Last week of March I flew from LHR (pickup by CD) into Melbourne (pickup by CD) to home.
Next morning made my own way to a conference then in the afternoon got another Qantas CD to MEL airport.
Flew to PER and got another Qantas CD to my hotel in the city that evening.

All the bookings held, and I certainly had similar concerns but for each leg the hire car company called or texted to confirm, usually 20 - 24 hours beforehand.

I suspect that because all of my CD bookings were within 24 hrs of landing that the booking system allowed me to keep on going.

If your transit time goes over 24 hours you may strike some problems.

A quick query from me - if the CD company can't reach you (in my case I'll be in europe and the bookings are for MEL) do the bookings made via MMB still stand?

When I was travelling home from UK, I had contact in London for the drive to LHR, but nothing for SYD. Just turned up out front at the end of the long flight and there was my name on a board. Unfortunately CD was a little overwhelmed at the time and we had a sub-contractor driver who wanted to tell us all about his last trip and I would have liked to tell him to STFU, but SWMBO didn't want a fuss!!

At MEL the Drivers for the Qantas CD service wait just around the corner from the right hand side (going out) as you exit customs.
Even if they can't get hold of you to confirm, there will be a driver waiting for you with your name on an iPad.

They usually have a couple of spare drivers nearby as well, probably due to the occasional no show.

As the drivers work for Brunel I have have also been picked up by a few before when using the Virgin door to door service MEL-PER and return as Virgin also uses the same hire car company.

Yes, have never had a confirmation call for the MEL pick up - but have used the service many times and never had a Fail.

The only hiccup was one flight, where there were two drivers with cards showing my name. No fuss, though. Just a shrug and a smile. :)

IS MMB 'the bible' WRT CD eligibility or is it worth calling to check/make arrangements?

I ask because I am flying Dub-lhr-Mel-asp with an overnight in asp (and of course in J, not F for the Mel-ASP leg) with an enforced overnight in melbourne due to the time of arrival of QF10.

MMB is showing me as eligible for CD from MEL to my hotel upon arrival but not showing me as eligible for CD on the flight the next morning. I ask because the flying brick's itinerary (see post #529) seems to mirror mine very closely and yet I am not offered CD on the 'next-day' flight to ASP where he suggested that he WAS offered same on his next day flight to PER.

Seems a similar situation to me, the CD took me from MEL airport to home on the Friday night, took me back to MEL Airport (from a conference) on the Saturday and then picked me up from PER airport to the Pan Pacific hotel in the evening.

All of this happened within a 24hr timeframe from landing in MEL to landing in PER.

I suspect that if your total stopover is over 24hrs then it would not be regarded as a continuation of the original flight from LHR however if your stopover was less than 24hrs then I have no idea what is going on.

Also no CD service in ASP :(

I've just booked a Sydney London flight in October in J (on points) and can't find the usual option to book the chauffer. Am I missing something?

Log on. Select the relevant booking from your list. Click "Manage". Then, directly below the flight details, is a box where you can check your eligibility for CD.
Good luck.

Thanks. That's what I was expecting and what's happened previously - but the option isn't appearing. I'll maybe call P1 as the flight should be eligible.

That's curious. Do you mean that the box under the flight details is not appearing (It looks rather like an ad)? Or that your flight is not showing as eligible?
