Qantas Chauffeur service - General Questions/Advice

Thanks for looking into this: The first two sectors are LGW - DXB on QF 8010 (EK 010) connecting to DXB - SIN on QF8404 (EK 404) then connecting onto QF 6 from Singapore to Sydney. I'm allowed Chauffer drive in London to Gatwick, but the booking page advises I'm not eligible when I arrive on QF 6 in Sydney from Singapore.
Thanks for your help.

Are you stopping over in SIN, or connecting straight through?

SIN-SYD in itself is not an eligible flight, but DXB-SIN-SYD certainly is, if it's considered the same (continuous) journey. Ring the Premium line and they will fix it.

We used the chauffeur in DXB and STO. No confirmation prior to pickup, just the time shown when I made the original booking. In DXB we found the driver outside our hotel having a cat nap - to be fair, he probably had 5 mins before he was due to pick us up. In Stockholm the driver was waiting in the arrivals hall with a sign board. Given that we flew on points generated from cc spend not airline loyalty and, for us, the chauffeur was a lovely bonus, I did tip both drivers. If I had paid $$ for the ticket, probably wouldn't have.

It's definitely a continuous journey from London to Sydney. I'll give the Premium line a ring.
Thanks for the advice.

A word of caution - don't presume the car will turn up as booked at your hotel in DXB. I booked the limo pick-up around six months prior to travel date. I checked in MMB a couple of days prior, limo was showing as confirmed. At the appointed time - no limo. After 15 minutes, concierge rank EK limo service (EK provide the service for both EK and QF pax in DXB). This is where the real problem occurred - the stupid operator there said the car hadn't been sent because I hadn't given them sufficient notice (i.e., more than 48 hours in advance). Six months wasn't sufficient notice ???!!!

Of course, it just meant the operator didn't even bother to look the booking up - that must be the standard excuse. I've since been told by QF that this is a known problem in DXB with limo transfers.

In the end, not a huge problem with the transfer - I just hopped in a cab. What actually rankled was the lie about me not having booked it in time! Great tactic - just blame the customer for your own failings!!

Given that you know have this experience, how would you handle things next time ?
Call up to confirm 96 hours before or something like that ?

I'm going to DXB in March coming home in F though will only be there for two nights does anyone know which number I should call (from Aus) so I can lock it all in before I leave ?

I had some chauffer eligible flights over Christmas/New Year period which went without a hitch: QF: SYD-LHR-onwards, EK: LGW-DXB and EK: DXB-SYD. I received phone calls the day before the Sydney and LGW departures (for the Sydney departure the driver was 5 mins late and I started freaking, but all good), and I received a text message 12-24 hours before the DXB departure and then a second one when the driver arrived at the hotel. The first DXB text provided a contact number of their office, and the second contained the driver's number. The arrival into SYD was fine with a man and a board with my name on it, and arriving into DXB you head to the chauffeur desk and it's all taken care of.

Good luck!

What did QF advise you to do next time to avoid this from happening again ?

Should we all need to reconfirm somehow ?

Don't count on any contact. We didn't get any - four people traveling (three with car entitlement) QF11 F (SYD-LAX) and QF8 J (DFW-BNE). Both turned up as booked on the website however, how did they know we actually wanted one SUV & not three cars?

Pretty unimpressed with the CD communication.....rang the QF plat line but they couldn't be bothered getting involved or just plain couldn't.

First class service - don't count on it!

I booked two cars to the same address however got a van instead in Brisbane without a call, and the van wasnt so nice, just to clarify, we were definitely entitled to two cars.

Hi EuroFlyer - did you get them to change the time of your pick up - I've got the same thing in Adelaide - they want to pick me up at 7.10am for a 9.40 flight - guess I'll book it and hope they call me

In Adelaide few times I've used the service they usually call you the day before and happy to adjust time to suit.

thanks - information much appreciated - maybe I booked my flight a bit too early so I could spend more time in the F lounge :)

Thanks for your input, but I rang the premium line and they said 'any flights from Asia are not eligible, irrespective whether my flight originates in Europe. I find that hard to believe, but she was quite adamant. Do you think I should try again later? Has anyone else had a flight from connecting from Asia and had a successful booking on Chauffer drive?
Thanks

While that is definitive in regard to Asia in its own right, I'll add this part for those with short haul connecting flights:
Connect from domestic and trans-Tasman flights

First or Business customers connecting between a domestic or trans-Tasman flight from Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch to an eligible Qantas international flight will also be eligible for complimentary Chauffeur Drive transfers.

Yes, I did give the link to the full terms and conditions - but was replying in more detail to the specific question raised. :)

Thanks for your responses.

It seems clear enough that we are not eligible.
Although I still don't see the logic of why. We are on a single QF ticketed flight in J from London to Sydney. (no stopovers) Their routing happens to go via Singapore, so all of a sudden we are not eligible. I would have thought that all tickets with the same point of origin should be eligible for the same perks. It's only a shortish taxi from the airport, but somehow I still feel short changed.

thanks again.

Guys I have a booking for two pax on QF in F DXB-SYD then onto MEL.
I can see the link to book a chauffeur in QF Manage My Bookings but there is no space where it allows you to choose whether you want one or two cars ?
Where can I select two cars ?
It is crystal clear when I was booking on EK metal through the EK Manage My Bookings.....

Cheers

IME you need to complete the details for both passengers........wait until T-24 and hope someone can be bothered to call you!

On two occasions they have sent one SUV for a family of 4 booking - even though we were entitled to 3 cars! No call on either occasion. I suppose they got lucky as we wanted one big vehicle however, how did they know that?

Someone will call me even though the CD is originating from DXB ? Or they will call me for the MEL-home leg ? Or both ?
I've done this before but nobody called me but it was ok we made do with one car. This time I'm quite sure we would need two.

Not sure what you mean by completing the details for both passengers. Both passengers are on the same PNR. When I log into MMB with QF I can see both pax names on the booking. But when I click on the chauffeur drive link there is no provision to pick a car for each person etc.

Unless you mean I book one car under one of the travelling pax as the contact person and then it will allow me to add a car for the other travelling pax ?

Cheers (and sorry if I'm missing something that is blatantly obvious lol)
