Qantas "Choose your reward" Promo. Select from Double Status Credits OR Double Points [book 25/3/22-1/4/22]

Booked to go to the UK
Did you find a better J price, from upthread I seem to recall the price was around $9K on the opening day of the promo. I am still not interested in the SCs just points and have registered Mrs&Miss M as well, even off base points if my maths is correct that will be double points x3 then the WP bonus for 2 of us.

I ended up booking Y. Could see prices of about ~$12k when I need to travel. The reasonably priced J fares I saw were Emirates metal and ineligible for the promo.

With Qantas offering status extension with a flight it would seem silly to take double credits. Also did anyone get the Double credits for the Qantas travel vouchers. I never did?

If you can level up to a higher status level it's not. Also it helps with progress towards LTG. If you already have heaps of points and are chasing LTG then DSC is still likely more valuable than double points.

If you had one where you could opt-in to get that and it didn't work then you'll need to manually follow it up with QF.

I did revisit the 2 stop Bali status runs and it seems like the price has gone up to $3500 for 440 SC in normal times, 880SC during DSC. 1 stop is $2500, with 640 SC during DSC ex-SYD. I heard that this was one of the cheapest status runs in terms $/SC of before 2020.

But can understand that it’s not quite as good as the 1 stop NZ iternaries that are on now.

Please note that oftentimes what the T&C's say and what eventuates within the Qantas IT system do not always align. Sometimes you will not get what you are entitied to and will need to chase it, othertimes you will get a nice bonus that you shouldn't have earnt.

Based on the T&C's:
Q1: No
Q2: Both legs will credit. Just needs to originate in Aus.
Q3: Traditionally hasn't been allowed but sometimes they post.

I'm in a gray area myself with a booking CBR - LHR - CBR. CBR - LHR section is on 01 April so not eligible but the return is. I would like to believe that my booking is still treated as 'originating' in Aus.

Again T&C vs IT doesn't always match

Thanks for your help! Best of luck with your grey zone flights, too.

So I just called QFF customer service (no queue!!!! even as SG!), and Rika helpfully told me that as long as the booking was made before 01/04/2022 for the applicable flight period, I could then change the dates of those flights after 01/04/2022 and they would still honour double status credits so long as the date I change it to remains within the applicable flight period.

I asked about 4 different ways, and she gave me the same answer each time. I've got a SR number (
SR6177397
) for the call reference, and I'm hoping that will bolster my argument for it if they decide to push back. Should I expect that to help at all, or should I be talking to someone specific to get a reliable answer?

If you have a January 2023 status year end (like me), you won't benefit from the extension and hence you need to have your SCs together by January 2023 otherwise you loose your current status :-)

Also looked up Christchurch 1 stop return routes (SYD-MEL-CHC-MEL-SYD) and it is slightly cheaper than Auckland. Goes for about $1000 in winter (so $2.08/SC) but its a matter finding a place to stay when the flight arrives at midnight 😂

Did you benefit from the January 2022 extension offer? ;)

Even with status extensions DSC count towards rollover into the next membership year, which is a handy leg up. For example I have booked a couple of trips to get me to 1800 (the max they will do) rollover into my next membership year. Plus they apply to LT status too so there are reasons for those that care about such things (which isn't everyone).

As for the Travel Pass with DSC's offer. Yes, I received DSC for a TP booking - it took near a month to post, but they did show (there's a separate thread about this).

I'm sure I read in amongst the fine print that the DSC will not form part off the rollover, only the standard SCs. I'll see if I can find it.

I guess it's open to interpretation like always. This is from the Status Credit Rollover FAQs.

Which Status Credits count towards the rollover?
Status Credits earned through flying or with our partners on the ground will count towards the rollover. Status Credits provided by Qantas as a bonus, support or gift will not count towards the rollover.

As kangol wrote, if you didn’t renew yourself by earning SC, there was the “book one flight” offer to renew status for this year 2022/23. So yes, this promotion will definitely help renew to Jan/Feb 2024.

Plus help 2024/25 along as well!

Been following the thread but I haven't seen anybody mentioning the term Qantas Pass/Travel Pass. (Or maybe I have missed that, my bad!).

Anyway, In my profile section, I have both Qantas Pass and Flight Credit from my pre-COVID bookings. This makes me think that they are two different things.

Does anybody know if new eligible flights booked during the promotion period and paid with Qantas Pass (aka Travel Pass) qualify for DSC?

Thanks!

Definitely, since it's just a normal booking paid with a UATP card.

This was kind of addressed elsewhere in the thread - although to confirm, is it the date the PNR is generated or the date the flight properly tickets at play here?

I used my AMEX travel voucher for a multi-city booking last night and almost 24hrs later still don't have the confirmation email from AMEX. This doesn't surprise me, I don't think I've ever had a multi-city booking with international flights "ticket" without having to call them. They turn up in the FF account and and credit card, I just never get the invoice / e-tickets without intervention.

Is this something that needs sorting by Friday or should it be ok given the PNR was generated during the promo period?

Hmm the option to choose double status credits and double points just came up for me again. I clicked the 'Double Status Credits'. Got another confirmation email.

Just hoping it means it has been extended to April 6th. Hopefully no problems with the system.
Made a NZ booking yesterday.

Edit: On the Australian website it is still the 1st April.
