Upon getting my docs checked in Sydney:

CSR: Are you on a status run?
Me: Guilty as charged.
I haven’t done a run for a while but staff everywhere don’t seem to be very familiar with runs - must be a very small number of people flying back and forth just for the SCs. When I did them and was explaining to staff it seemed like a very rare occurrence to them.

Just about to finish a SYD-MEL-AKL-MEL-SYD with the quick turn. Return boarding passes issued at T3 Sydney, but International Transit at AKL is closed, so you need to call a number and wait 10-15mins for someone to come down (worth the wait).

What time was this in AKL when the transit was closed - overnight or during the day?

When I went to CHC I stayed for a few days as it was my first time in NZ. In my view it was a run, but the staff wouldn’t have known that.

bugger.

in the good old days of EK runs (ie same a/c return) I would check in at MEL, fly to AKL, go through transit security (there was never a check for onward BP for some reason) and head to the lounge and get the BP issued there.

of course this was not overnight (which is a different scenario) and pre-pandemic but I did that a number of times. Oh the memories of a day trip in F (bonus when those QF codeshares earned DSC....).

now you damn kids get off my lawn!
In one of the early DCS offers we had to travel MEL-BNE for work, one of my work colleagues had decided to fly on a Sunday in order to travel MEL-AKL-BNE AKL in EK F (QF codeshare) and the return on the Saturday. When I asked what possessed him to do such a thing he mentioned he picked up about 960 SCs and was well on the way to WP. During the conversation he mentioned that he was questioned in AKL transit and could not use the eGates when arriving back in AU. The questions were along the lines of why he was traveling same day MEL-AKL-BNE and BNE-AKL-MEL, he said 'I just like flying and I had nothing better to do' or similar and they just let him on his way.

I have a booking coming up that was booked under this offer - I've since had something else come up on those dates, and need to defer travel.

If I simply do a change to the dates - to Feb next year ... I'm in the clear, correct?

As the PNR (booking ref) remains, and its simply a change of dates - the DSC promotion is relative to the PNR ... correct ??

As far as I understand you still have to fly within the original window dates!

Otherwise you could in theory change dates (with fees) till 2050.

As per the original T&Cs : make an Eligible Flight booking between 12.01am (AEDT) Friday 25 March 2022 and 11.59pm (AEDT) Friday 1 April 2022 for travel from 2 April 2022 to 21 March 2023.

So changing to travel in Feb 23 would be fine.

Were on the overnight MEL-AKL?

Has anyone been awarded the DSC if they had a non-AU address in their profile when registering for the DSC promotion and booking an eligible flight? T&C's say members with an address outside AU are ineligible however I wonder how strict this is/has been?

I had DSC attached to a flight credit that Qantas "kindly" turned into a travel pass. While it was nice to not have to pay the change fee, my double status credits have not posted. Does anyone know if travel passes have DSCs attached to them or are they wiped when converted?

The flight was only last week, but I'm wondering if it worth following up now? It is only 20sc that I'm owned, so not a huge a deal as I'll hit Gold this week without them anyway.

Can anyone remember whether the DSC rules this year require QF metal or just QF coding? Flew back MUC-DXB-MEL on QF codes, but EK metal, and wondering if it will post the DSC.

FWIW DSC bonus are also posting quite quickly now, QF35 and QF1 posted around 24hrs after each flight.

Unfortunately DSC only applies on QF metal, so no codeshare flights.

Yeah, that is what I thought. Only thought about it because of this message above which refers to EK F being eligible for DSC.

A booking made using a Travel Pass is a new booking. So if you made the new booking during the booking window for a DSC promo and flew during the flying window you would get DSC, otherwise not.

You would need to contact the Frequent Flyer Service Centre to get this one sorted out. Since it's considered a new booking as far as the system is concerned, manual intervention will be required to get these DSCs.

When travel passes were issued many came with DSC as an incentive for not demanding a cash refund. The travel pass i had, had DSC which is why i used it across two bookings.

With many travel passes you had the option of double status credits or double points or a 10% reduction in the next fare if I remember correctly. So some Travel Passes ( like mine ) definitely came with DSCs.

This is different, of course, from a travel pass created from an original DSC booking.

Yep, Travel Passes with DSC attached were only offered via the call centre to customers proactively seeking refunds for bookings that were eligible to be refunded (i.e. Qantas cancelled your flight), as an incentive to not take a cash refund.

If Qantas has proactively/automatically generated a Qantas Pass (formerly known as Travel Pass) for you, it will not have DSC's attached at all, even if the original booking had DSC. If the original booking was eligible for DSC and you have booked new flights using the Qantas Pass that are within the original DSC window it would be worth chasing it up with the Frequent Flyer team to see if they would do a manual credit given the circumstances.
