Slightly OT but I was in the AA Admirals Club in Terminal C at DFW on Friday afternoon when about 10 Australian men/lads entered. Half were in singlets/shorts/thongs the others were in either jeans or tracksuits.

Didn't bother me a bit.........however the constant use of the F word () left me hiding my Australian passport away!

if they have the body to pull it off, i say let it be. It's the fat ones that i'd be ore offended by.

Agree, there are more and more of these type loud mouth Aus men (?) being heard in various lounges more the pity.

Point of info, I used to listen to your name sake on ABC Radio in the late 50's early 60's around "The Goon Show" era, the show was "Hancocks half hour", and great comedy sketches abounded during the 30mins, shame he had to pull the pin on life in MEL or SYD when he was at his peak.

P.S. He didn't have to swear to get the laughs !

Cheers Dee

Well, I have to admit I was wrong about the reflective clothes being appropriate in the QP. I thought that when wearing mine clothes they would ensure they were CLEAN, an that their shoes/boots were clean. Well I was wrong, on Sunday last week, 8th May, I saw two guys in dirty work clothes and dirty/dusty steel cap boots enjoying the facilities of the PER QP.

I now have to swap sides and agree that hi vis and and any other dirty worwear should be be banned from the QP's.:(

Qantas fires back at 'ridiculous' union claims

Qantas's chief executive, Alan Joyce, has fired another broadside at unions threatening industrial action, accusing them of making "unrealistic and ridiculous" claims such as one from the aircraft engineers' union seeking membership of the Qantas Club for its 1600 members.

and

"They have asked for membership of the Qantas Club for all of their members [and] they have asked for an extra week's leave to take it to six weeks' leave," he said.

1600 more BIS's at QP's. Good thing they removed Anytime Access to allow for more seat space </tongue_in_cheek>

Old thread I know, but I think it would be fair to let the union have the same discounts that say Woolies employees get, because of their size, but giving them a ticket to an all you can drink bar for free is absurd.

Conversely, Virgin should offer the Qantas engineers union membership of their lounge facilities for substantially less, and I’m sure they’d take it up.

We can’t wear High-vis or singlets in the mess at night for dinner. So I don’t think it’s appropriate to wear in QP.

Regarding thongs, I do feel like a bit of an outcast at Melbourne QP wearing thongs and shorts, but when I get to Perth QP and then onto Port Hedland I’m well dressed!!

I do think their should be a WP/J lounge at Perth IMO.

yeah, then all the hi vis FIFO workers will be in there and the rest of us can have the qp. :)

I think most FIFO workers are WP ISTR they fly on Y or B tickets (my uncle used to work on an oil rig and would fly from Belgium to Brazil every month for 3 weeks there one week home, this made him AF WP pretty quick). Well we could always go to the QP for some quiet time then :D

It might just be me, but I've seen some very attractive tradie-girls with the high-vis on at Brisso. Yes and of course, some very ordinary looking blokes.

When I visited the Flounge on a recent liesure trip I certainly wore smart-casual, then when my flight was called I quickly changed into the comfys (well, I was heading down the back to Y)

Whilst I do not condone the thongs/singlet look whilst in F lounges, I do travel in Shorts and T-shirt, usually with runners on in Summer, and in Winter its jeans and a T-shirt with some sort of milspec boots.
whY do i do that? i'm usually flying whY, so I want to be comfortable and to be honest, that's the kind of guy I am, a shorts and T-shirt kind of guy.

Although I think I may wear a tux, top hat and tails on the next Flounge run on Easter Saturday. :P

Yikes! I nearly lost my dinner.

Due to public health concerns I would never subject innocent F pax to such a hideous sight.

On JQ35 on the other hand........................

I can still remember the guy in QA J out of Darwin last year in opposite row putting his backpack up top with his tank top on and big hairy armpits, I gave lunch a miss and drank instead:cool:. If I was a betting man I'd guess he had thongs on too.

Cleavage is fine in public. In fact the more cleavage the better. ;)
