Hmmmnn... You just called me a peasant (with a capital P) for posing the question of why people automatically equate quality with price.

Yes... you truly were taught to use your manners and show respect to ALL people you came into contact with...

I am assuming this post is a joke??

I was quoting YOUR post as I agreed that the expense of clothing does not equate to quality or indeed class.

I have a name for those who do. "Peasants". I do not rush up to such people and address them as such.

I have to remember that on an open forum, things can often be read by different people to mean entirely different things.

I'm not sure if i'll be allowed into the Perth QP next Wednesday morning - I don't have a fluro hi-vis safety shirt to wear. :(

:)

Do you want me to mail you one? I may even be able to send you some boots.

Seems to me that this thread has highlighted the fact we now live in a changed society. One persons dress standard does not automatically mean everyone has those same standards. Right or wrong, who knows, but I'll leave it up to the airline staff to decide.

Let's face it, this gentleman (?) is very neatly attired and clean.........but I bloody hope I never have to sit beside him .......give me Hoges and Strop in occer stubbies and thongs anyday!

I have a different name for people who dress like this.......

I think I will leave that one alone:);)

Peopleofwalmart.com appears to have been extended to airport terminals...

Clearly I misunderstood you. In your post you quoted me and said you had a name for people with this attitude. I assumed you were referring to my attitude. I do apologize.

Sorry blueflamenco. I didn't mean to cause you any offence.

It is all good!:)

He doesn't remove his piercings prior to travel Russ....

However if you were offended by them I would have to ask you very kindly to remove your face from from my son's nipples and crutch as that is inappropriate!!

I vote this as one if not the funniest post I have read on this forum. Still laughing

It does seem quite clear from the Photograph that he is not in the QP or FLounge. :p(Only commenting not judging!!)

For me standards in the QP started falling when they allowed me to join some 12 years ago! Clearly it was only ever downhill from there. :)

This thread has certainly revealed a lot about peoples attitudes!

Dress is all subjective, so are body piercings. I show my prejudice by not hiring people who can't dress appropriately or who have additional metal sticking out of their bodies.

Smelly people stand stand them either. I prefer clean people.

That sort of sums things up from my end.

Sprucegoose, I guess you mean by metal sticking out of their bodies those parts of their bodies which are readily observable? Unless, of course, you really get down to the bare boards in your interview process!;)

Wellllll, the thread was not about the FLounge, that was another thread and clearly from the photo, he is boarding the plane..........he may have just come from the QP ;)

The point of my fairly pointless post is that no matter what standards the toffs choose, others will devise a way to take a socially respectable outfit and make it morally or aesthetically repugnant to the majority of patrons, without breaching the written standard.

Similarly, some would not be happy unless everyone dressed for flight in a dinner suit or evening gown.

That's why I suggested we leave it to the airline staff to use their "better" judgement.

I'd better just add here.......

I'd no sooner consider wearing thongs, singlets or trackie dacks on a flight than fly to the moon!

Hmmm, may mean if I ever get a trip aboard Ricky Bransons "galactic" flights, I'll be showing up in a starched blue truckies singlet, up-market track suit pants and classy rubber thongs (of a high fashion label of course).

Could someone please tell me what the fashionable labels for thongs are so I can prepare early!

I have the same approach to people with tattoos.

Personally, even though I would find that type of outfit a bit amusing, I know that if I was in the capacity of a lounge dragon, I would highly likely just wave him through.

We all have our impressions, subjectiveness, sterotypes, and views on what is smart casual - most would say that's a FAIL outfit - but for all we know, that man could be transgender, have an intellectual disability, have an acquired brain injury .... that leads him to dress like that (at no fault to his own). There is NO defence for discriminating against people with disabilities, and for all we know, potentially that man may have one. And as far as his world is concerned, he legitimately believes that that type of clothing is smart casual and more importantly appropriate. I can see a possible breach of anti-discrimination legislation and definitely will make it to the news if a QF lounge declined his access

Just because some of our worlds evolve around chinos, polo top and suit jacket or whatever ... doesn't mean everyone else around you is or should conform to what you think is appropriate.

I think you'd best consult Alanslegal for the scoop on that :p

I'm no fashionista but you don't need to wear the latest and trendiest pairs of thongs to get in ;) Cheap pairs of Havianas, Birkenstocks and Crocs have all been all acceptable at the F Lounge, worn by me.

If you don't like my thongs, at least I am very certain there is nothing wrong with my feet - I undertake regular pedicure treatments, foot massages and daily personal wash routines incl. scrubs, wash, and moisturise treatments ;)

...and people who tuck their shirt into their jeans. ;)

Only the fat ones ;)

If you have even a small bulge / pot belly you should never tuck - leave out.
Why? I am fat and I tuck my shirt in. It is the respectable way to dress. Which warped mind decided that it is OK to not have shirts tucked in? Sad society indeed.

Seems to me that this thread has highlighted the fact we now live in a changed society.
By changed do you mean warped?

Dress is all subjective, so are body piercings.
And there in lies the problem. Today's youth have no idea about dress sense. If anyone thinks the garbage the youth are wearing today is fashionable they are kidding themselves.

Let't not get started on piercings.

I have the same approach to people with tattoos.
Tattoos? What is it with people and tattoos and more recently the full arm or leg or body tattoos. Totally disgusting is the best way I can describe it.
