Qantas Club - feedback for management

Ok, pancakes not a good example. Do they cook anything after 0830, until the next 'meal' service? It's a while since I was in the F lounge for brekky.
We are talking QP not F Lounge. But still i though most of the spread was DIY fashion. There isnt anything Cooked by staff on a made to order fashion i am aware of.

Although i have never seen any egg machine in the SYD QP lounge. One assumes that you can get boiled eggs to ones own liking. Or is it a made to order thing where you request a 2 minute egg?
Again i havent ever paid attention to eggs in the QP or any kind of made to order service apart from coffee. So it could be signs right in front of me and i wouldnt know.

No, after the end of breakfast it's just light snacks until lunchtime (though you can make a toasted sandwich for yourself).

I dont think it is unreasonable to expect breakfast offerings until 10-11am to be honest (unless advertised).

Most cafes and restaurants offer breakfast menus up until this time.

Eggs I dont see as a breakfast only option anyway. Love a good Egg sandwich with a bit of relish and salad, or the old Ham and Egg.

They are probably pretty pricey to offer all day however.

I'm still trying to figure out the maccas nuggets reference, and its association to ANY of the OP and partners 'concerns' with the QC. Anyway, I do hope the partner doesn't eat those nuggets, (they contain gluten) their car is carbon offset, and they live off the grid, .....etc etc. I too care for the environment, to the best of my ability, but geeez..

And as mentioned, has the OP actually contacted QANTAS directly via its various media portals? Does the OP actually want to give Qantas a right of reply, or does the OP just wanna have a rant via social media to satisfy their self worth? AFF and red roo here is not an official/direct line to Qantas for peoples 'niggles'. Bye for now:).

Secondary feedback - your new order coffee on iPad facility - great idea except:
1) no option to specify in a washable cup/mug ("dine in"). It came in a landfill disposable cup. Upsetting to my partner as she cares for the environment.
2) no SMS came (even though the number registered), and nobody called out the order. Coffee sat on bench getting cold. Unusable system.

Thanks!

The disposable/ceramic cup differentiator seems to be a QC/JLounge one: MEL QC, ADL QC, Cairns QC all - in my recent experience - offered disposable; MEL/SYD JLounges consistently offer ceramic/glass.

My colleague and I recently had a race in the ADL QC to see who got their coffee first. Me: traditional walk-up & order; He: using the App. His coffee was served just before mine, but sat getting cold because he'd headed off to the toilets ... mine was served after but provided immediately.

It'll be interesting to see what happens as this is rolled out.

Regards,

BD

Comment:

Unless I missed it the QF website doesn't specify times for brekky service in the lounge. In my experience (though I use the J lounges) they take the stuff away anywhere between 0830 and 0900 - I suspect when items are consumed they won't cook up a new batch past a certain time.

Is this a reasonable policy? (I mean the times) I don't know. I don't know that it's up to me. I suspect it is a cost thing since the "all day dining" stuff is going to be cheaper for QF to offer the sandwich/salad fixings than cooking up eggs, snags etc.

In the OP's case it could well have been that they showed up 5 minute after the eggs were exhausted and not replaced. Does that mean QF did not keep their promise? Only if they promoted specific times items would be available til. I know when I use the J lounge I sure as heck don't expect much stuff post 0830 - even on weekends when you'd think more relaxed rules would apply. I'm just happy to get my strong coffee (in a glass :) )

I've also noticed they remove the juice (orange/apple) offerings early too. Used to be there all day, now it goes by 0900. At least at MEL anyway.

I didn't actually know QF had brought in ipad ordering (NZ started this awhile back and works quite well there) and maybe it's still got gitches unfortunately. I didn't see it in the MEL J lounge when I was there recently, but then again "my" Barista sees me walk in and knows my order (it's sad to be a semi-regular lol)

QP's *do* have separate Gluten Free bread and stuff which I think is a great thing for the intolerant.

I think the maccas analogy is this - when you go to maccas you order you KNOW what to expect. It may not be the world's best food or whatever, but you know. You also know (well until recently) they serve brekky items till 1030am as it's always been advertised that way. Maybe that's the difference... Maccas provide a consistent product and you know what to expect to be available and when you expect it. QF's not so clearly definited on the timings in the lounges.. and maybe that's the issue.

Really though if I set my expectations by food availability in the domestic QP or J lounge I'd be unimpressed mostly. My next QF dom flight is a morning flight and I expect to arrive in the lounge around 0815-0130 - if there are no eggs and snags you know I won't cry about it. If desparate, I can go out of the lounge to... maccas!! (or HJ's or whatever). Sure a Sunday morning greasy snag or 2 before a flight is quite an enjoyable treat but my world won't end if I can't.

In Adelaide if you want to eat a meal or something filling we know it wont be in the QP. And there is no J area there either.

what's a nugget?

Little lumps of gold. Don't go Maccas for them though, they fake them with mushed up something, fried golden.

Seriously though, the OP and missus made a point of going to the QP on expectations that weren't met. I too would be disappointed if I made a special effort to go somewhere based on published offerings and find when I get there, there is nought, zilch, nothing in sight. The OP very bravely published his disappointment publicly and let it off his chest. We can assist by giving our encouragement and constructive viewpoints for others to open up without being flamed or ridiculed.

I'm mostly offered a glass/ceramic cup in the ADL QP, probably getting one 80% of the time.

This doesn't mean its not true though.
While people may condescendingly reject something as a 'first world problem', the fact is, it is still a problem. Why shouldn't companies be called out for inaccurate descriptions of the product? I don't recall ever seeing the eggs as described in the Qantas Club. I have in the business lounge.

We pay first world prices for first world services - shouldn't we call out first world problems?

I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that the OP took his partner into the QP and the partner was not travelling, just for a free breakfast (cost of parking not withstanding).

It just makes no sense to me.

And then to have a whinge about it, probably have a whinge when the lounge is full too.....wonder how that happens???

Indeed, even if there had been eggs, the cost of parking would buy you a much nicer brekkie at a normal cafe. Unless it's the F lounge it's definitely not worth going out of your way to eat at the airport.

I think is she is droppinghim at the airport and he is going to sit there say an hour before the flight why not have breakfast together ?

Others may prefer of course not to have breakfast with their partners but I don't think people need to be so judgemental perhaps.

He is fully entitled to take his partner in. The lounge being full has nothing to do with this. As for bringing her in for breakfast, why not? In fact, I've done the same where someone has dropped me at the airport and come in for a coffee and something to eat with me.

Jaded frequent travellers view the QP these days with disdain but for those who use it only now and then, there would still be a feeling of "special" about it (until one sees the lousy quality of the offerings these days) and look forward to the QP visit almost as much as the trip itself.
Have you not romanced your partner and taken them to somewhere "special", expecting the experience to invigorate and bond your common experiences, another share moment in life where you both did something "different" from your daily routine, adding another richness to your shared lives?
I remember with such fondness our first visit to a QP back in 1996. It was our first experience of being in a lounge not everyone has access to that came with food and drinks. We both felt so special and it only made the flight that followed so exhilaratingly warm. We almost looked forward to the return flight so we could do it all over again. I read with envy when someone like the OP sees the visit to a QP as a "special" place to take his wife for breakfast. Yes, you'd get better elsewhere with the cost of the parking but so can everyone else. We are all able to buy a breakfast with money but we can't all go to a QP for one.
