I wonder if LTG will "cease (for ever) to be obtainable", another enhancement?
If Lifetime Gold ceases to be a feature of the QFF program then I can see a lot of people, many frequenting this site, taking business across to Star Alliance or Sky Team once they have attained QF Platinum or Partner Gold each membership year.

Not sure what QF will do with this one. In a way I hope they don't but I still have a long way to go before Lifetime Gold.

after this time QC life memberships will cease (for ever) to be obtainable.

I think the only thing we can be sure of in the Airline industry that never never means never ;)

RE: QC LIFE MEMBERSHIP

I phoned the QC Service Centre this morning to take out life membership. Their phones are running hot with people taking this option and they are just taking down all the details and putting them through during the course of the day.

Today is definitely the last day ever to take out life membership!

Glad I got in about 6 months ago then.

When you look at the price of Life vs 4 Years (and with in imminent inflation to these rates), Life Membership is a good deal!

I think there is a LTG thread somewhere but haven't had a good look yet, but I noticed this yesterday on my letter congratulating me on achieving LTG.

Now I dont remember this fine print being highlighted on LTS, but cant find that letter to confirm. I do know that QFF reserve the right to change conditions when they want.

Anyone have an older letter to compare with.

Never say never :) .... Just because it may be unavailable from next week doesn't mean that things will not change again in the future

I believe my LTPS letter from Qantas last year (July) has the same caveat.

My guess would be that if any changes were imminent then it would be similar to SQ PPS status. ie if you already have QF Lifetime Gold all is OK and current benefits will be honoured for the life of the QFF program but if you do not have QF Lifetime Gold then either the goalposts will be moved or QF Lifetime Gold will no longer be a feature of the QFF program.

JohnK,
I suspect that Lifetime Gold will still be possible however as you say, the goal posts will be closer together.

All references to Qantas Club Life, Senior Life and respective Partner Life have been expunged from the Qantas website. Not insignificant price rises have been applied to remaining membership types.

Does anyone know if Oneworld members will follow what Star Aliance does with lounge access by allowing a member of one club (eg QC) into its other clubs (eg JAL's Sakura Club) when travelling on the other member's airline? [Currently this only works on BA and AA if you are a QC member and can be very annoying if, eg you are flying Cathay Pacific - QC in HK don't want to know you!]

For example, if I am member of United's Red Carpet Club, I can access LH's lounges if travelling on LH (or indeed any Star Alliance airlines) or NZ's lounges if travelling on Air NZ. Will this principle ever be applied to the Oneworld airlines?

Thats an understatement. 15% increase in $ or points to renew. I hope they are planning on providing 15% more hot food or chairs, or maybe they are hoping that the price rise will just see 15% drop in members.

Probably stating the obvoius, but the following is the situation at the current time.

QP members can only access QF's QP's, AA's A/Cs and BA's Terraces/Business lounges when outbound on a flight marketed and operated by the carrier.

Oneworld Sapphires have access to all oneworld Business Class/Frequent Flyer lounges at the airport of departure on the day of the flight. (Emeralds can use First Class lounges where available). Note that AAdvantage Sapphires have access restrictions when travelling on defined "North American" domestic itineraries.

According to various posts around the place, Lifetime membership ceased being offered at the end of September (28th I believe)

So you're out of luck really.

4 year membership has been around for a while, so I don't think it's a new introduction.

You have the right thread; read the whole lot, especially post #123.

It's as MAL indicated.

PRIORITY BAGGAGE QUESTION FOR QC MEMBERS

(Q1) If a QC member is travelling domestically in Y does their luggage get "PRIORITY" tags?

(Q2) If a QC member who is also a Gold or Platinum FF is travelling domestivally in Y does their luggage get "BUSINESS" tags?

thanks

(Q1) Yes

(Q2) Yes - SG/WP/CL override standard QP Benefits

-note that baggage check-in agents sometimes have other ideas.

(There's actually a thread on this somewhere, I don't have the time to look right now ...)

Are the answers the same for international Y travel?

Also, what happens when you checkin in the US on a QF codeshare on AA. Will the AA checkin people attach any priority tags?

The QF specific benefits apply only to flights operated by and (iirc) marketed by Qantas
