Nlagalle - what about some of the clever NZ videos - if you disliked the BA animation - surely the NZ ones were genuinely funny.

Like many things - plenty of other airlines get things right - but QF struggles.

Actually haven flown AirNZ yet but i do recall seeing a couple of them on you tube. I bet if you asked Joe public, they would probably like and watch the cricket video. Also cricket isn't so obscure anymore, heck the US have a team too. Had they skipped the clapping at the end i wouldn't mind it too much.

It was Richard Simmons last time I flew NZ. I prefer the cricket one.

Next NZ flight is in a few weeks, so hopefully it's something new

2 out of the 3 flights stopped the video before the clapping Mel-per and adl-Mel, clearly the poor FA can't stand hearing it 5+ times a day. I don't blame them!

Had to endure this "masterpiece" several times over the holidays. One of the flight attendants over the tasman, a very funny Kiwi guy, whispered to me that this has been the "worse thing that Qantas has ever done to us". I would have thought that honor rather goes to Jetconnect's pay but it shows just HOW bad this video is not only for the passengers but also for the own staff. Shivers!

every crew member I've spoken to is just digusted in it.

I can't believe it continues..... who the hell is responsible? sack them immediately!

Heh, QF512 this morning, the video was started after the clapping and Captain/Captain bit at the start, and turned off as soon as the clapping started at the end.

Good on the cabin crew for doing something about it. The Captain/Captain/Skipper routine was cheesy , but the clapping was just downright embarrassing.

Thankfully 4 out of 6 flights over Christmas were on QantasLink so only had to put up with the videos a few times.

I recently went on a QL flight, immediately following a QF, and compared the two announcements close together. The old 'canned' announcement on QL was so much more professional and authoritative, whereas the QF announcement was laughable. And yet QL so often gets the rap for being playlike.

Over the weekend sat next to Miss 2 yo Mel to Syd.

When the safety video came on she ripped the headset off and it and Mr penguin went straight to the floor. Miss 2 yo was gritting her teeth and punching the little arm rest buttons like she was possessed trying to find a different channel. When she started ripping at the whole arm rest to yank it out of the seat the crew member came over and asked if everything was alright. I pointed to the screen and said she hated it. Miss 2 can't speak yet but you could tell the frustration was overwhelming her.

They played the whole thing, by the end Miss 2 yo was red in the face and huffing and puffing and still going trying to change the IFE audio channel.

I was trying not to laugh and when the music came back on she resumed her normal calm self.

i thought of you guys.

Jan 13 HBA to SYD started with pilot type saying "thanks skipper", then went into safety demo, and it cut off immediately after the demo proper. Thank goodness!

As much as its lame it is really not that bad, I mean it's got nothing on the poorly 3D animated ones on Finnair or Cathay, lets not forget the BA video with the guy that looked like uncle drunky and his best mate cousin feely.

Lets be honest whether its the plastic banter between the cricketers, or Miranda Kerrs plastic, it's still a Chew your own eyeballs out event after 50 views.

The best safety "videos" I've seen are without a video at all and done 100% by the crew. They can be funny, witty and demonstrate what needs to be done effectively without the need for a celebrity.
