Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

Is it good enough to just say cancel card, or should you add something about the annual fee?

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

They missed the 5k bonus points for May but sent an email saying they will credit it in June.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

Got all my 30K bonus pts and cancelled this morn - next please?

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

Did they give you a prorated refund on the annual fee?
Was there an annual fee? If there was - I didn't ask - wasn't offered - guess the short answer would be NO.

EDIT: Just checked all statements - no annual fee paid.

Previously first year was fee free. I believe it has now changed, too many AFFers fleecing them of points. :D

Just noticed that the 30000 point sign up bonus has been reintroduced. Sadly, no annual fee waiver this time round but it seems they've extended the interest free period to up to 55 days. Might be worth it for first time applicants I reckon.

Earn up to 30,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points!

Apply between 1 June and 31 August 2013 and earn 5,000 points when your card is issued – plus, make an eligible purchase with your card each month for the next 5 months and earn an additional 5,000 points per month. That’s up to 30,000 points you can redeem for travel and shopping with Qantas Frequent Flyer. If you don’t make an eligible purchase in one of those months, you’ll forfeit your additional points for that month and all remaining months.

Business-related charges earn points or are they expressly excluded?

Unlike the upfront annual fee activated on your first spend for the ANZ amex platinum; they charge you the few after holding the account open for 12 months.

Every existing card holder should have received an interest free extension on their card.
I signed up last year (as did a friend) and both of us noticed that the payment date was pushed back by a few weeks automatically giving us 55 days

Is that to say that it is effectively 1st year free? And that if you cancel before 12 months you pay no annual fee? Or have I completely misinterpreted you?

Yes as long as you cancel before the annual renewal.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I note that they say annual fee will be charged when the account is opened in the t&c. Interesting to hear that that isn't the case.
Thanks!

Hasn't it been said that that is a recent change? I took this offer up from Nov 12 - Jun 13 and no fee. Go back through this thread others have said it has changed.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

We cancelled this card and closed the banking account.I would have continued to use it as a back up to the WWERCC now that I've wound back my Amex card. But the annual fee was just too expensive IMHO for QF points (especially now that JASAs have been enhanced for points bookings). No fee was charged as it was within the 12 months. We did it all online via the portal and all happened quickly an easy. No need to call them.

The current T&C'S as stated on the website:

3. This joining fee waiver is offered by Qantas Credit Union. It is available to new applicants or existing Visa Platinum credit card account holders who are not already Qantas Frequent Flyer members and who apply for membership online at qantas.com/terms. This offer is non-transferable and not available in conjunction with any other offer. Qantas Frequent Flyer membership and each application is subject to approval by Qantas.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I held this card for 11 months before cancelling and collecting sign up bonus. it since then, I've noticed some interesting QFF activity from the CU card, post cancellation... So without wanting to alert QFCU, am I alone here?

No, for the last couple of months I've had 190pts credited to my account each month. This is after having cancelled and confirming the cancellation of my card.

SHHHHHHHHHHH......................................

secret members business, is no ones business but ours ;)

Just an FYI

Somewhere around post #270 in this thread we talk about the fee not being charged immediately when you sign up for this card.
I just signed up for this and can confirm the fee is added to your account immediately.

A lot of posts from people cancelling, which is fair enough if you are 'churning and burning' cards for bonus points. But has anyone had any discussions about cancellation with QSCU that led to an offer of a fee reduction to keep the card?

I like the card, and find the service great. The original 44 days interest free was a bit of a pain as we'd often get a statement a few days before the due date, but that's now been improved and is 55 days. So I'd actually like to hang on to it, but its a little hard to justify when the woolies EDR is only $89.
