Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Also on Sunday 18 March 2018, QF439, the 1400 hours SYD down to MEL that was in the sky at 1451 with A332 CVH-EBS should arrive at 1605 hours, half an hour tardy.

Monday 19 March 2018 has QF23, the 1030 hours SYD - BKK again delayed but fortunately by less than on other recent occasions. A333 Vh-QPH was airborne at 1138. Arrival should be at 1651 hours, 41 minutes late. This may very marginally delay the returning QF24's departure, assuming a fairly fast turnaround.

Monday 19th March. QF127 SYD>HKG Scheduled Time of departure, 9:30. After three attempts at taxiing onto runway, now a change of crew and aircraft, ETD of 17:30. Lucky I can sit in the F Lounge.. 8hr delay.

SeatBackForward, on sites like this nothing beats 'a man (using in generic sense) on the spot.' Thank you so much!

Strangely the QF site shows departure at 1620, but we could put that down to you having very recent information I assume.

Aircraft showing as A333 VH-QPG (ex QF108 from PEK, which strangely has two different takeoff times from China shown!) It got in this arvo.

Flight would as you state require a new crew so let's hope the aircraft is right to push back in 40 minutes. Happy travels.

Further to SeatbackForward's updates, QF127 (A333 VH-QPG), the 0930 hours SYD - HKG took off at 1813 hours early this evening (Monday 19 March.) Arrival should be at about 0005 Tuesday 20 instead of 1550 this arvo, so 495 minutes late.

QF128 is showing on the QF website as 'cancelled.' This may be incorrect.

It only needed new pilots. The cabin crew went to SIN instead, and the SIN crew to HKG.

QF128 is indeed cancelled.

milehighclub, thanks.

Pardon me for asking such a basic question, but as far as I can observe, QF29 ex MEL and QF97 ex BNE operated as normal today, so why is 'the 128' cancelled given it could be formed by the very late QF127? Surely a crew would be available?

Those times would be correct. Have never arrived into HKG too late to get the train into town. It was a very long day.

After arriving on SeatBackForward's QF127 (see above), A333 VH-QPG has spent all day - from a bit after midnight - in HKG. I remain mystified why it didn't operate at say 0200 this morning local time as a QF128D down to SYD.

My boss reports Syd-Melb at 9.15am today and hes still sitting on the plane 2hrs later. Computer issues he said.

Denali, it appears he may mean QF421, the 0930 hours SYD - MEL that (as you report) has been retimed to depart at 1130 hours. It was to be A332 VH-EBN. Strangely Google claims it took off (or departed from the gate) at 1008 hours but clearly that is incorrect. Please thank your boss for the 'sit rep.' Always great to receive these. Many AFF members appreciate them.

...Boss says it taxied out and then returned to gate and they werent allowed to disembark.

This suggests that when it returned, they may have been hopeful of another go shortly thereafter.

A further 75 minutes (i.e. 1015 to 1130) sitting in a confined space may be OK for adults if one has IFE/smartphone/book to engage with, but for smaller children and infants it could be annoying, plus hard for mothers. Perhaps not many children on daytime non-school holiday weekday flights between major capital cities though.

Also on 21 March, QF2107 (1010 hours morning CFS down to SYD that took off at 1057, Q300 VH-TQZ) should arrive at roughly 1207, 42 minutes tardy.

QF517 (B738 VH-VYA, the 0935 hours BNE down to SYD) was in the sky at 1006; arrival should be at 1223 hours, 43 minutes late.

In its swansong days via DXB, QF2 arrived SYD on Wednesday 21 March at 0733, 63 minutes late.

Many hours away given the time difference, but transcon. USA flight QF11 has been cancelled from LAX to JFK on 21 March.

QF79, the 0920 hours MEL - NRT did not depart until 1138 with arrival suggested as 1940 hours tonight, 115 minutes tardy. QF62 (NRT- BNE) and QF80 (NRT - MEL redeye) are both showing as punctual but quite often, 'the 79' forms 'the 62' so BNE-bound passengers may be delayed tonight.

The presently upgraded in capacity QF81 unusually departed 36 late at 1211 hours from SYD but SIN arrival is forecast as just 26 minutes late at 1711 hours. A388 VH-OQJ has the task.

The forecast for JFK (and most of the eastern seaboard) is poor, to the point of likely JFK closure so not surprised QF11 canned.

On Thursday 22 March, medium to long flight QF4 from HNL down to SYD (A332 Vh-EBL) that took off yesterday at 1049 (about 25 minutes late compared to its timetabled 1000 pushback) should arrive at roughly 1830, an hour late.

The HBA - SYD QF1020 (1545 ex HBA being the timetable, and 1624 hours the takeoff) with B738 Vh-VYG looks to be arriving at 1817 hours, 42 late. It was in a holding pattern north of Goulburn NSW then has had to approach from the north, losing further time.

QF2213 (Q400 VH-QOU) is much worse, with this 1535 hours mid afternoon SYD down to ABX not taking off until 1756 hours. A 121 minute late arrival at 1851 is predicted.

QF10 on Friday 23 March departed DXB three minutes early at 0102 with suggested MEL arrival at 2120, five minutes ahead of time in its swansong days. A388 VH-OQK is teh aircraft; it took off from LHR at 1252 hours yesterday, 57 minutes after scheduled departure but arrived DXB one minute early at 2304.

Also on Friday 23 March, QF29, the 0945 hours MEL - HKG did not commence pushing back until 1331 hours. Arrival is likely at 1925 tonight local time, 90 minutes late.

QF30 to MEL tonight, QF98 to BNE and QF118 to SYD are all showing as punctual on the QF website ex HKG this evening but one of these will be delayed.

QF11 from SYD to LAX is mostly punctual but as Quickstatus alluded to above, it departed at 1142, 72 minutes behind time. Same day arrival should be at 0705 hours, 45 minutes late. In comparison, QF93 departed MEL 58 late this morning but should be at its LAX gate at 0659 hours, just 24 late.

B789 VH-ZNA - class leader, and interesting that it won't be on the first QF9 via PER "express" to LHR tomorrow night - departed MEL 63 minutes late this afternoon on QF95 at 1428 hours with LAX same day arrival predicted as 37 minutes behind schedule at 1422 hours, mid afternoon.

Swansong week continues for the via-DXB QF1 that on Friday 23 March departed SYD unusually late at 1749 - 54 late - but arrival in DXB should only be seven minutes behind at 0047 on Saturday 24.

QF2 left DXB on Friday 23 March only 18 late at 0953 hours, but on Saturday 24 is expected to arrive in SYD at 0730, an hour late, also in its swansong via DXB days.
