In further on Saturday 16, QF11, the 1010 hours SYD - LAX is expected to depart at 1300 this afternoon, arriving same day at 0835, 155 minutes late.
Rather optimistically, the connecting QF11 (B789) is predicted to depart LAX at 0915 hours, 55 late, arriving distant JFK at 1705, 35 minutes behind.
QF93 from MEL is also badly delayed, with this 0940 hours departure displaying as a 1200 'high noon', but by 1255 it doesn't appear to have pushed back.
UPDATE: VH-OQB (A388) as QF11 was airborne from SYD at 1322 hours, about 165 minutes late.
Remarkably similar, VH-OQK on QF93 from MEL was in the sky at 1325, but due to the longer distance and earlier scheduled departure time is even less punctual, at about 200 minutes late on takeoff.
QF11 and QF93 respectively are estimated arrivals of 0835 and 0930 hours in LAX so given that a large delay to the transcontinental USA QF11 then affected QF12 from JFK and then the onward flights ex LAX QF16 to BNE, QF12 to SYD and QF94 it may be more likely that passengers from 'the 11' and 'the 93' are transferred in LAX to AA flights across to JFK. We'll see.
If passengers are efficient and security queues not long, is the quickest that passengers (and luggage) can alight/be transferred from arriving ex-Oz flights to the transcon QF11 about 70 minutes from arrival at gate to pushback? I don't recall seeing it much quicker when inbound flights are delayed.
UPDATE: QF11 from SYD's estimated arrival has become 0850 and QF93's remains at 0930, but the connecting transcon QF11 has changed to a projected 0945 houres ex LAX, 85 late. 55 minutes for a connection between the two '11s' is very fast, perhaps unattainable. It means at best a 65 minute late arrival in JFK at 1735 on Saturday and hence a delayed departure for QF12 back across the USA to LAX.
