Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF28 arrived SYD (ex SCL) at 1820 hours on Wednesday 26 June, half an hour late.

QF454 (1730 hours MEL - SYD) took off at 1813 with arrival mooted as 1931, 36 late.

B738 VH-VXK is on QF632, the 1810 hours early evening MEL north to BNE airborne at 1918, so arrival is forecast as 2112 hours, 52 late.

QF615, the 1010 hours BNE down to MEL has B738 VH-VXF and took off at a much delayed 1208 hours. Consequently, arrival is 1414 hours, 99 late. This aircraft must be substituting for another failed aircraft, as it arrived BNE at 1054 hours, a minute early on QF967 ex northerly TSV.

QF33 (Thursday 27 June, the 0955 morning flight SYD up to KIX) departed at 1042, taking off at 1114, so expected arrival is 1958, 58 late. VH-EBQ is the A332.

A388 VH-OQK on QF11 (0935 hours SYD - LAX) was in the sky at 1039 with same day at gate arrival suggested as 0637 hours, 32 late.

VH-OQI on QF7 (SYD across to DFW) departed at 1336, 61 late with same day arrival estimated as 1404 hours, 64 behind.

A third A388, VH-OQF should arrive LHR on Thursday 27 at 0658, 33 late on QF1 ex SIN and (yesterday) SYD.

VH-OQF is on QF2, the 2105 hours Thursday LHR - SIN - SYD that took off at 2148 so Thursday 27 SIN arrival is estimated 45 late at 1810.

B789 VH-VNG on QF9, the 1845 hours early evening nonstop from PER to LHR (Wednesday 26 June) arrived on Thursday 27 at 0537, 32 late.

Much later on 27 June (Thursday), QF492 (B738 VH-XZF, 2030 hours MEL - SYD airborne at 2121) is suggested as arriving at 2225 hours, half an hour behind.

Friday 28 June's morning has QF605, the 0610 hours BNE down to MEL that took off at 0628 (only about five minutes late) with B738 VH-VZR but unlikely to arrive prior to 0907 hours, 32 late due to holding above Tocumwal.

CBR had fog this morning as QF795, the 0620 hours down to MEL was not airborne until 0739. VH-VZA then also had to hold above Mt Buller so arrival should be 0859, 84 late:

QF409 (0700 hours SYD - MEL) has B738 VH-VXT and is arriving at 0907 also, 32 late due to not taking off until 0750.

The 0610 hours BNE down to CBR, QF1543 (B717 VH-YQX) was in the sky at 0649 with arrival suggested as 0856, 56 late as it has encountered a lengthy holding pattern.

Short hop QF1510 was similarly afflicted by the weather in Canberra with this SYD-bound flight (B717 VH-NXR, the 0630 hours) becoming airborne at 0831, about 110 minutes late with arrival claimed as 0914 hours, 109 late.

The 0615 hours CBR - BNE, B717 VH-YQY, took off at 0817 so arrival is expected at 0949 hours, 114 late.

In my experience of travelling there, it's unusual for CBR to be affected by fog at 0630. It's nearly always the later flights (from roughly 0800 hours to 1000 or even 1045) that are effected, both departures and arrivals.) CBR even has commentary to this effect on its website.

In more on Friday 28 June, QF417 (A332 VH-EBN), the 0830 hours SYD - MEL, did not take off until 0921, so arrival at 1039, 34 late is the expectation.

Continuing with Friday 28 June 2019, QF81 (1010 hours morning SYD - SIN) did not become airborne until 1122 hours spo A332 VH-EBQ should arrive at 1728, 38 minutes behind schedule.

A333 VH-QPH on QF79 (0910 hours MEL - NRT) was up up and away at 1012 so arrival has become a suggested 1921 hours, 46 late.

QF797, the Friday 28 June scheduled 1235 hours lunchtime ASP down to MEL was up up and away at 1332 so with a holding pattern imposed east of Bendigo, arrival for B738 VH-VZR should be 63 late at 1643 hours.

Thursday 27 June's QF1 (SYD - SIN - LHR) arrived uneventfully at its intermediate stop four early at 2211, but was not in the air for the second sector until 0143 hours on Friday 28, meaning LHR arrival at 0848 hours, 143 minutes tardy. A minority of this may be due to altered flight routings over the Middle East, avoiding Iran. QF1 has begin to have a poor timekeeping record for its second sector: problems almost every day this week.

Friday 28's evening has QF819 (1710 hours CBR - MEL) not airborne until 1837. A 77 minute late arrival at 1937 hours is the forecast for B738 VH-VZF.

QF477 (VH-VZH, the 1915 hours SYD - MEL pointing skywards at 1909 hours should arrive at 2027, 37 late.

VH-XZM on QF479 (1845 hours SYD - MEL) was airborne at 1937, meaning at gate arrival of 2053, 33 minutes down.

On Saturday 29 June 2019, QF408 (0700 hours MEL - SYD, A332 VH-EBM) was not airborne until 0739, about 25 minutes late. Consequently arrival at gate is suggested as 0929, 64 late as it had to hold above Goulburn for a considerable period. There may have been some fog earlier.

B717 VH-YQV on QF1512 (0755 hours CBR - SYD) was in the sky at 0840, so arrival has become 0920, half an hour behind schedule.

The 0630 hours CFS - SYD (Q400 VH-QOR), the 0630 hours, took off at 0702 with estimated arrival 0823 hours, 38 minutes behind the timetable.

QF12, the LAX - SYD (A388 VH-OQA) had to divert to BNE, taking off from there at 0734 with SYD arrival at 0936 hours, 126 minutes late.

The PVG to SYD redeye, QF130 (A332 VH-EBR), the 1950 hours, took off at 2033 so arrival has become (Saturday 29) a suggested 0954 hours, 89 late due to fog-related extensive holding in the Singleton area.

QF74 (SFO - SYD, B744 VH-OEH) is a second long distance diversion via BNE this morning, taking off from the latter at 0756 hours. Unfortunately at 0933 it was still having to hold in the same area as QF130 had, so arrival has been put back to 1007 hours, 242 minutes late. It had taken off from SFO at 2238 on Thursday 27, only 13 minutes after scheduled 2225 hours departure so essentially early, showing how much time an unlucky diversion can add. This B744 is forming the 1055 hours SYD - JNB (QF63) that has been delayed to 1200 'high noon' in pushback. At face value it seems wasteful for 'the 74' to depart BNE when ATC must have known extensive holding would be required due to air traffic congestion, but considerations about crew hours and perhaps BNE requiring the gate or apron space that the diverted B744 occupied may have played a part in when it departed BNE.

QF509, the 0805 hours morning BNE down to SYD (VH-VYK) was punctual in its takeoff at 0818 but the music stopped there, as like so many other aircraft it has had to encounter a holding pattern. Consequent likely arrival is 1021, 41 late.

QF118 HKG-SYD (A332 VH-EBS) is currently diverting to BNE.

QF414 MEL-SYD (A332 VH-EBL) has a revised arrival at 10 31, 66 behind schedule

QF118 HKG-SYD (A332 VH-EBS) is currently diverting to BNE...

It looks like this aircraft's next tour of duty is QF107, the 1210 hours lunchtime SYD - PEK that QF optimistically suggests is delayed only until 1400 this afternoon. Passengers preparing belongings for QF108 tonight ex PEK won't be enjoying a punctual pushback.

Qf414 (0800 hours MEL up to SYD, A332 VH-EBL, was airborne at 0834, about 20 late but had to hold above Gunning - two racecourse-like circuits - and then above Goulburn, so arrival is likely at 1032, 67 late.

B738 VH-XZM on QF416, the 0830 hours MEL - SYD was in the sky at 0929 with arrival showing as 1101, 66 late.

The expected delay to QF107 (SYD - PEK) on 29 June has increased to 130 minutes - a 1420 hours mid afternoon expected pushback - due to the late arrival of the via BNE diverted QF118 from HKG to SYD. Latter is presently in Brisbane.

The SYD - DFW A388 QF7 is expected to depart half an hour behind at 1305.

QF581 (1025 hours mid morning SYD transcontinental to PER) took of at 1204. A332 VH-EBL should be 70 late arriving at 1440.

UPDATE: QF7 has been further delayed to become a 1340 hours departure.

The KIX-bound QF33 did not push back until 1114 so arrival ex SYD should be 2019, 79 late.
