Saturday 29 June 2019's scheduled transcontinental USA QF12 (JFK - LAX, B789 VH-ZNF) pushed back 182 minutes late at 2112 hours so arrival became 2342, 162 late.
The delay was not so much due to QF11 on Saturday morning taking off from LAX at 0929 (about 45 - 50 minutes tardy) but its loss of time enroute, with arrival in JFK at 1904 hours, 144 late and then as MEL_Traveller has pointed out, almost inevitable further excess time on the ground in JFK. Were there thunderstorms on approach to JFK?
This turned the different aircraft (A388 VH-OQF) operating the second sector LAX - SYD into an estimated 0115 hours departure, but it's later than that. Monday 1 July 2019 SYD arrival is estimated as 0920 hours, 170 late but it may become worse.
'The 94' to MEL was not held in LAX, departing only eight late at 2248 hours so once again MEL-bound passengers will have the joy of changing to a QFd in either SYD (probably more likely) or BNE. While it depends on spare seats on each, the B789 is far smaller capacity to BNE so if each were 85 per cent full, fewer available seats are on the B789.
QF16 from LAX to BNE on 29 June pushed back at 0135 on 30 June, 135 late so Monday 1 July arrival is suggested as 0820 hours, 135 late and considering the delay from New York, quite a good effort. As QF15 on Monday is not timetabled to depart BNE until 1020 hours, hopefully it will be punctual.
UPDATE: QF12 pushed back in LAX at a less than ideal time of 0219 hours, 229 late so Monday 1 July arrival in SYD should be at about 0953, 203 late.
