Qantas Delays/Cancellations

The badly delayed QF12 arrived LAX (from JFK) at 0357 hours on Thursday 8 August. Difficult to see it departing for BNE at 0520 as QF asserted.

There are also winds of about 50kmh at ADL although flights are still operating in and out.

QF699, the 1855 hours MEL - ADL took off at 2013. B738 VH-XZI looks to be 66 minutes tardy with predicted arrival at 2051 tonight.

The 1935 hours MEL north to CBR took off at 2058 with B738 VH-VXQ. Arrival is suggested 67 late at 2147. QF2132, teh earlier scheduled 1835 hours ex MEL and also to CBR is worse, with this smaller aircraft (Q400 VH-QOT) taking off at 2031 for suggested arrival at 2127 hours, 102 minutes behind schedule.

QF463, 1830 hours early evening SYD down to MEL did not point skywards until 1959, with likely arrival 2115, 70 late for VH-XZK. QF465, the 1900 hours on the same route as airborne at 2001 with at gate arrival forecast for 2118, 43 late for VH-VZF. QF493 (the 1915 hours southbound, VH-XZL, is also an expected 43 late.

QF559, last of the night ex BNE at a scheduled time of 2235 hours into SYD has also been cancelled.

QF589 is still operating but with a delay awaiting inbound QF16. It will probably be fairly empty given the size of the delay on a domestic service. Probably still running because it’s a crew training flight.

Never argue with an oracle!

Once again Flyerqf (who may no longer like QF as much, rumour has it) is correct with QF589, the 0820 hours BNE across to PEr altered to a suggested 1340 hours with PER arrival at 1720 hours, 325 minutes tardy. QF654 returning has been changed to depart PER at a claimed 1815 hours, 245 late with BNE arrival at 0040 on Saturday 10 August, 250 late. This B789 then often does not depart BNE until QF55 on Saturday night, so there's no pressure on it to arrive punctually in BNE ex PER, not that it's ideal to run hours late.

This 1340 hours departure may be optimistic given that by 0525 LAX time on Thursday morning (2225 AEST), there was no sign of QF16 having pushed back for its long TransPacific trip.

UPDATE: QF16 departed LAX at 0532 with BNE Friday 9 arrival showing as 1200 'high noon', 355 minutes late.

The Tuesday 6 August QF2 departed LHR at 2301,1516 minutes late as noted back a few posts, arriving SIN on Thursday 8 August at 1845 hours, 1520 late. However it was estimated to depart at 2110 (originally 2040, but has again changed) on Thursday 8 for Friday morning SYD arrival at 0605 hours, 1495 minutes late.

The Wednesday night QF2 from LHR is also extremely late, having pushed back in LHR at 1022 with A388 VH-OQF on Thursday 8, 797 minutes late. The SIn intermediate stop is estimated from 0626 to 0750 on Friday 9 (the latter being 740 minutes behind schedule) with SYD arrival at 1735 hours, 745 late.

Passengers from LHR should not forget that they ought be eligible for a substantial payment under the EU261 compensation scheme.

As noted by Flyerqf, this latter A388 will form a much delayed Friday 1235 hours SYD - DFW, QF7 and then a still unpunctual QF8.

The Tuesday 6 August QF2 departed LHR at 2301, 116 minutes late as noted back a few posts, arriving SIN on Wednesday 7 August at 1845 hours, 80 late. However it then spent 24 hours plus in SIN, and is estimated to depart at 2110 (originally 2040, but has again changed) on Thursday 8 for Friday morning SYD arrival at 0605 hours, 1495 minutes late.

The Tues 6th QF2 left LHR on Wed 7th at 2301. It was a 24 hour+ delay. Not a 24 hour delay at Singapore.

OQL is the problematic aircraft. It’s still on the ground, with the inbound QF1 turning around faster for the last 2 days. Hence the delay on Wednesday night too.

This morning it looks like all A380 (excl 2 in maintenance) are back in service and will be in the right positions.
OQF is about to position down to MEL.

Continuing with Friday 9 August 2019, QF2001, the early morning flight from TMW down to SYD (Q400 VH-QOA) should arrive 31 late at 0801 hours.

A388 VH-OQH on QF94 from LAX to MEL is arriving 46 late at 0816. Because QF356/QF36 were an A332 for the first time, OQH is forming QF93, the 0900 hours back to LAX nominally departing at 0945, though with the aircraft having to hold into MEL it should be more like 1005 hours off blocks.

QF118 from HKG to SYD is worse, with A333 VH-QPH not taking off on Friday 9 until 0051 hours, so arrival is suggested as 1129, 89 late. This A333 is forming QF19, the 1210 hours lunchtime SYD - MNL altered to depart at 1240.

Last night (Thursday 8 August), the delayed QF7 (1235 hours SYD - DFW) did not depart until 2255 hours, 620 minutes late. Arrival is estimated at 2300 local time, 600 late.

Consequently, the 2225 hours Thursday late eveining QF8 from DFW back to SYD should depart at 0045 on Friday for Saturday 10 arrival at 0850 hours, 145 minutes late.

The day late QF2 departed SIN at 2155 on Thursday 8, arriving SYD on Friday 9 at 0705 hours, 1555 minute slate.

A388 VH-OQF is being ferried as QF6013 SYD-MEL, arriving at 10 47.

As a result, the 9 August QF35 is showing as a 1225 (half an hour late) departure although with the time needed to load and service this size aircraft, 1240 may be more realistic.

By 0825 local time, the overnight delayed QF2D had not pushed back in SIN. This may push its arrival in SYD to beyond 1730 tonight, meaning that QF7 will be off blocks later than the prediction of 1930, which is 415 minutes tardy.

Sydney airport has winds over 51km. Aircraft airborne are on holding pattern, departures have slowed down from SYD and already a diversion from MH. So hence MEL has cancellations and delays

Oh I know why MEL has delays.... blizzard here too! I think only 1 runway operating too... so put the 2 together and its a real recipe for fun!

UPDATE: The very tardy QF2 departed SIN at 0816 but forecast arrival in SYD has not changed much, becoming 1735 hours due to favourable winds.
