QF93 on Wednesday 29 January operated normally ex MEL, arriving LAX at 0618, eight minutes late.

However QF94 on the Wednesday night, the 2250 hours, has been delayed overnight to an expected 1000 pushback on Thursday 30 for Friday 31 forecast MEL arrival of 0505 hours on Saturday 1 February, rather than 0950 hours on Friday, so 1145 hours late. A388 VH-OQL is the delayed aircraft.

Consequently, QF35, the lunchtime 1210 hours MEL - SIN that is usually the A388 from 'the 94' arrival should push back in MEL 90 late with SIN arrival at 1840 in the early evening, 95 minutes tardy. FR24 is still showing it as an A388 so perhaps one is working down empty from SYD?

Also on Friday 31, QF405, the 0630 hours SYD down to MEL was cancelled. QF419, the 0900 hours, is suffering the same fate.
later, QF499, the 1645 on the same route will also not run.

QF7 is cancelled today. Unless there's some other reason, it could be because one of the four A380s that've landed in Sydney this morning (QFs 2, 8, 12 and 128) will be doing QF35/36 today and be positioned down to Melbourne.

Also on 31 January, QF420 (B738 VH-XZF, the 0930 hours MEL - SYD that took off at 1048) should be at its gate at roughly 1158 hours, 63 minutes behind its timetable.

VH-VXS is not a lot better, with QF422 (its 1000 hours ex MEL) airborne at 1105, meaning SYD arrival will be about 1217 hours, 52 late.

The expected departure delay in MEL on Friday 31 January to QF35 (the scheduled 1210 hours up to SIN) has risen to 185 minutes as it has been further revised to 1515 hours mid afternoon, meaning SIN arrival at 2105 tonight, 190 late. There's a chance of QF93 (Saturday 1 February's 1040 hours to LAX being delayed due to today's occurrences, but too early to be definitive.

As discussed above in the hypothetical, A388 VH-OQE has worked down from SYD as an empty ('ferry') flight QF6005 (taking off at 1225 hours with arrival at its MEL international T2 gate at about 1338 hours) to form 'the 35' (due to QF94 being delayed overnight in LAX - see above.) This plane had arrived in SYD 17 minutes early at 0818 hours this morning on QF12 ex LAX. In theory it should have been on its way to MEL within two hours but in practice from observation such transfers often take longer than minimum turnaround.

QF63 was also delayed ex SYD for JNB with B744 VH-OEJ on this scheduled 1135 hours taking off at 1300 sharp after departing from its aerobridge at 1242 hours, so expected arrival in the South African major centre (but not its capital) should be 35 minutes late at 1710 hours, which will probably mean a slight delay in the QF64 redeye pushing back.

The aforementioned QF12 that sat in LAX overnight puushed back at 1809 hours on Thursday 30 so Saturday 1 February MEL arrival should be a little earlier than QFi had indicated - 0445 hours, bright and early.

QF79, the 0920 hours MEL - NRT has been delayed overnight to a rescheduled pushback at 0800 on Saturday 1 February, meaning arrival in the less favoured Tokyo major airport at 1605 hours, 1345 minutes late. It is BNE-bound passengers tonight on QF62 who cop a large delay (not MEL-bound QF80 patrons) with '62' retimed to depart at a projected 1850 hours on Saturday 1 February instead of the timetabled 1930 tonight, arriving sunny BNE at a suggested 0505 hours on Sunday 2, 1405 minutes behind schedule.

As the amazing FlyerQF informed AFFers yesterday, A333 VH-QPB has been inoperable since arriving in SYD at 0635 hours on Wednesday 29 January. It hasn't operated anything since from what I can see, so that will be the factor necessitating the Japan delays.

The A388 on QF11 on Friday 31 pushed back at 1244 hours, 94 minutes tardy with a similar suggestion made for its LAX same day arrival: 0730 hours, 90 late. This may delay the crosscountry USA B789 on QF11 that runs LAX - JFK at a scheduled 0820 hours as more passengers apparently usually connect onto it from 'the 11' (A388) than from MEL or BNE. QF15 is however also delayed, pushing back in BNE at 1149 (39 behind) with arrival at LAX suggested as 0645, 45 behind.

QF107, the 1335 hours soon to be cancelled SYD - PEK is showing as delayed until 1410 hours in its pushback.

Late morning, QF143 (scheduled 0945 hours SYD across to AKL) was 121 minutes tardy in departing at 1146 hours so arrival is estimated as 1720, 145 minutes behind the timetable. This is predicted to delay QF146, teh 1625 hours departure ex AKL back to SYD by two hours in pushback.

In more on Friday 31 January, QF577 has A332 VH-EBL and is the 1340 hours late lunchtime SYD across to PER that was in the sky 69 minutes later, so at gate arrival should be 1615, 40 behind the schedule.

As a thunderstorm approaches or hits MEL with the temperature having dropped 12 degrees to 29 in the last 20 minutes to half an hour on Friday 31 January 2020, QF762, the morning 0755 hours ex PER that was not in the sky until 1005 hours is arriving at 1614 hours, 109 minutes late with A332 VH-EBC.

QF881 (VH-YZH) is the 1155 hours from OOL to MEL that pointed skywards 121 minutes later (1356.) At gate arrival may be tardier than the prediction of 1654 hours (104 late) as at 1620, the aircraft was holding north of Tocumwal.

The expected departure delay in MEL on Friday 31 January to QF35 (the scheduled 1210 hours up to SIN) has risen to 185 minutes as it has been further revised to 1515 hours mid afternoon, meaning SIN arrival at 2105 tonight, 190 late. QF35 did not push back until 1644 hours, 269 minutes late. The forecast is SIN arrival on 31 January at 2105 hours, four hours late.

Unrealistically, reflecting an earlier unadjusted prediction, QFi claims 'the 36' will depart from SIN tonight at 2210 hours. If QF35 arrives at 2100, a better guess would be a 2245 hours pushback for 'the 36' (185 late), so arrival in MEL on Saturday 1 February should be at around 0845 hours compared with the schedule that states '0600.' Assuming this A388 forms QF93 to LAX, the 1040 hours, it's possible that too will be tardy in pushing back.

The seasonal YVR to SYD QF76 B744 (VH-OEH) was 36 minutes late in departing on Thursday 30 so Saturday 1 February at gate arrival should be about 35 late: 0645 hours.

EBS is still out of action. 744 covered a Sydney Melbourne and Sydney Auckland rotation today.

Splash and Dash!!

VH-OEF was busy Jan 29.
It operated Jan 27 QF76 seasonal YVR-SYD but did a “Splash and Dash” fuel stop in BNE at 0444 finally arriving in SYD at 0820 . Then did a SYD-AKL-SYD QF145/148 rotation, arriving back at home base at 2007, then departed as QF25 to HND at 2258.
Goes to show the 747 fleet is still going strong and properly maintained many years of service but for the bean counters.

QF3 (Friday 31 January, 1920 hours SYD - HNL with A332 VH-EBN) was not in the sky until 2144 sp arrival is suggested as 1015 hours, two hours ;late, delaying in turn the return QF4.

The 2010 hours evening MEL - BNE (QF636, VH-VXH) was airborne at 2056 so arrival is an estimated 33 late at 2153.

Although QF19 was a23 minutes late arriving in MNL at 1753 hours, the return redeye departed at 1952, 52 behind so on Saturday 1, SYD arrival should be 0705, 45 late.

Saturday 1 February 2020 finds QF408 and QF422, respectively the 0700 and 1000 hours MEL - SYD flights, cancelled.

QF2051 (1005 hours across Bass Strait MEL to DPO) is predicted to depart half an hour late.

AS noted above, QF35 was badly delayed on Friday 31, so the Saturday 1 arriving QF36 (A388 VH-OQE) from SIN (departing at 2356 last night, and taking off at 0019, so pushback was 196 minutes tardy) should be at its MEL gate at 1020 hours, 260 minutes late.

Which one?

Hotel MyStays Narita, pretty decent hotel, in typical Japanese efficiency last night the QF62 Pax were directed to a separate check-in area as we arrived for check in. There is a Hilton next door so maybe some ended up there,

Bonus earth tremor last night so that's one thing ticked off my list.

Looks like a nice day here. JQ25 was pretty quiet yesterday.

MyStays appears to have a typical tariff of A$95-100 so QFi would pay less per night. Variable reviews online that include some good ones.

QF35, the 1210 hours lunchtime 1 February ME - SIN is expected to depart 35 minutes behind time with arrival 1745, 40 late.

The 0920 hours MEL - NRT (soon to be HND) QF79 has not had consistently good timekeeping in the last couple of months. On 1 Febryuary it pushed back 58 minutes behind schedule so expected at gate arrival is 1818 hours, 38 behind. Let's hope eastwest101, one of AFF's best contributors is not delayed further from his overnight 'holiday' at NRT should 'the 79' form QF62 tonight.

The B744 on QF63, the 1135 hours SYD across to JNB is predicted to depart at 1220 with arrival at 1705 to be half an hour tardy.

QF81 (1125 hours SYD - SI) has been cancelled. The 2030 hours SIN - SYD QF82 is still displaying as operating.

QF129 from SYD to PVG is often punctual (or sometimes a little early arriving) but it has been delayed to predicted pushback at 1215 hours (80 late) with at gate arrival likely at 1930 tonight, an hour behind, so 'the 130' redeye back to SYD will be behind schedule when it departs.

In more on Saturday 1 February, QF19, the 1225 hours SYD to MNL pushed back 53 minutes late with suggested at gate arrival 1800, half an hour late.

QF11 was again late, with this 1110 hours SYD - LAX longer distance flight departing at 1218. A same day arrival at 0644, 44 late is the prediction.

It is unusual for 'the 15' to be significantly late, but on Saturday it left BNE at 1247 (97 minutes behind) so anticipated LAX at gate arrival has turned into 0717 hours, 77 minutes tardy, which will cause at least a 15 minute delay to the onwards QF11 across the USA to JFK.

QF7, the 1440 hours SYD - DFW A388 flight is expected to depart at 1700 hours with estimated arrival, same day, at 1505 hours mid afternoon, 130 minutes behind its schedule.

It is awaiting the inbound positioning flight QF6006 that was due to leave MEL at 1130 and still hasn’t departed yet. QF7 has now been delayed further to 1900.
