Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with 29 January, QF619 (B738 VH-VYA, the 1210 hours early lunchtime BNE down to MEL) was in the sky at 1325 (about an hour late) so arrival at its designated aerobridge should be approximately 1627, 57 minutes behind schedule. This will delay QF448, the 1645 hours MEL - SYD by what is a suggested 10 minutes in pushback but based on observations, it's quite likely that the delay will be in excess of 15.

...QF9, also a 1650 hours departure but from down south in MEL is unusually delayed until a predicted 2115 hours mid evening (265 minutes late.) The PER intermediate stop should be 2205 to 2330 with Wednesday LHR arrival 0920 hours, 255 minutes behind the timetable. FR24 implies that B789 VH-ZNI was to operate this flight: it has been in MEL since arrival on 28 January early morning (0655 hours, 10 minutes late) as QF50 ex SFO...

This Tuesday 28 January QF9 departed MEL at 2059 hours (as noted in another post) with the stop in PER being 2141 to 2334, the latter seeing it (with B789 VH-ZNI the aircraft) 254 minutes late upon pushback. LHR arrival today (Wednesday 29) is suggested as 0955 hours, 290 late.

Wednesday's QF9 is also delayed 90 minutes ex MEL to a predicted 1820 hours. It is quite unusual for this flight to be tardy on two consecutive days.

'The 1' that left SYD 188 minutes late on Tuesday should arrive in LHR at its aerobridge at about 0820, 125 late on Wednesday 29.

QF43 on Wednesday, the 1650 hours SYD - DPS is forecast to depart at 1830 for arrival at 2145 hours mid evening, 105 minutes behind schedule. This will delay redeye QF44 back down to SYD.

QF37, the 1720 hours late afternoon MEL - SIN is again delayed with departure suggested at 2130 tonight for arrival at 0210 hours on Thursday 30, 235 minutes tardy. QF38 will be badly affected timewise.

QF 44 tomorrow is cancelled due to "damaged aircraft".

And as would be logical, QF43 is cancelled on Thursday 30 January ex SYD for DPS. Today it's merely late, as noted in the previous post. How does QFi know a day in advance that the aircraft assigned for QF43 is "damaged?" If it does, then logically that plane must be inoperable today.

QF1407 (Q300 VH-TQD) is the 1725 hours SYD down to BXG that took off at 1810 hours on Wednesday 29 January, so arrival in one of Victoria's historic 'golden' cities should be at approximately 2001 hours, 36 minutes late.

The 1700 hours MEL - SYD (QF4532) was cancelled.

Looks like QF9 is further delayed and still hasn't left MEL. Any ideas what's going on there?

EBS is still out of action. 744 covered a Sydney Melbourne and Sydney Auckland rotation today.

QF37, the 1720 hours late afternoon MEL - SIN is again delayed with departure suggested at 2130 tonight for arrival at 0210 hours on Thursday 30, 235 minutes tardy. QF38 will be badly affected timewise.

QF37 on Wednesday 29 is further delayed in predicted pushback to 2215 tonight meaning SIN arrival at around 0255 hours (280 minutes behind schedule.)

At 1848 hours, QF43 was off blocks in SYD with DPS arrival estimate further altered to 2125, 85 late.

Daver6, QF9 (B789 VH-ZNF) pushed back in MEL at 1920 hours, 150 minutes late. The PER intermediate stop should be 2001 to 2120 (the latter being two hours late) with LHR Thursday 30 arrival a suggested 0710 hours, 125 late. By 1920, this aircraft had been in Melbourne for 23 hours as it arrived on opposite number QF10 on Tuesday evening, so not sure why there was a delay tonight.

There goes making my connection. Oh well, these things happen. Thanks for the update.

Blocks off?

Yes, sorry, it should be 'Off blocks.'

Earlier on 29 January 2020, QF19 (1225 hours SYD - MNL) departed at 1306 with arrival 47 minutes tardy at 1817, delaying the returning redeye QF20, the 1900 hours. It's showing as a 1920 hours pushback, possible, but it would be a fast turnaround.

Wednesday 29 January's QF9 was in PER from 1959 to 2124 - 85 minutes is about the fastest one observes this intermediate stop - so Thursday 30 LHR arrival is predicted as 0735 hours, 150 minutes late.

Also on Thursday 30 January 2020, QF485 (A332 VH-EBM, the 0935 hours MEL - PER) was not in the sky until 1146 after departing at 1117 hours, although QFd claims it 'departed' at 1021 so it may have had to return to the aerobridge and then push back a second time. This wasn't evident from the brief gander I had at the flight path on FR24.

In any case, expected arrival is 1229 hours, 109 minutes late.

QF35 (A388 VH-OQJ) matched its flight number with pushback at 1240, 35 late so SIN arrival is suggested as 1745, 40 behind. It has arrived in MEL 20 minutes early at 0930 hours as QF12 from LAX.

1021 would have been ambitious given the aircraft arrived late as QF409.

Any further word on "damaged aircraft" reason for cancellation of QF44 tonight? 🌴
Edit: sorry just saw other thread.

Later on a very hot Melbourne afternoon/early evening (c.40, but not as hot as Adelaide where it's 42.8 degrees), QF692, the 1605 hours ADL - MEL took off at 1719 hours with B738 VH-VYH. At gate arrival is suggested as 1858 hours, 63 late.

Later on 30 January, EBM is operating QF480, the 11145 hours early lunchtime PER across to SYD that was in the sky at 1325, so with the nonDST to DST three hour time difference, arrival at gate should be 2017 hours, 82 minutes tardy.

QF37 is again delayed for the third time in recent days, having pushed back 43 behind at 1803 hours. Arrival in the Lion City is estimated as 2246 late tonight local time, 31 late.

Looks like QF have an A330-300 out of action. QPB hasn’t moved since arriving in SYD from KIX yesterday morning. Could be planned however yesterday they had 744 subbing for 330 services.
