Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Just browsing FlightAware (haven't done so before so may have this wrong) and I notice QF93 is shown as flight duration 1:41 and the track shows it looping around Canberra and now seems to be at Sydney. Am I reading the screen right or am I on the wrong page? Has it only got as far as SYD?

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Sounds like it.

Mechanical issue apparently

Qantas plane makes unscheduled stop in Sydney following mechanical issue - 9news.com.au

Mechanical issue apparently
Thanks for that..... I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at when I was browsing FA. Seven hours late into LAX would play havoc with connecting flights, I guess.

Wonder if QFF passengers will get extra SCs for the MEL-SYD leg?

It'll be as originally booked for the SCs. According to the article they did get a free lunch however.

Slightly OT, but I'm counting my lucky stars as I have done this trip twice in the last 4 weeks and have made it to LAX within 10 mins of scheduled landing time. Therefore making my 100 minute connection both times. Might not try for 3rd time lucky.
Hope it all works out fine for the passengers.
Surely it wont be long before OQF comes back on line.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

The MEL QF F lounge staff are staying late tonight. The staff are expecting QF9 to be two hours late departing MEL. It is showing as 0030 on the departure board so at this stage 1hr35.

QF10 is expected at 2240 so with a quick changeover that time may drop.

Hope you can fill in that time pleasantly, JessucaTam. :)

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

I am unaffected as I am on EK409 at 0240.

Actually that is untrue. I will be able to enjoy a little more QF time before heading over to the EK lounge.

Please ensure you are responsible whilst in the Melbourne F Lounge :D :D

Whoa! 02.40?
That's a long way off. :)

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

QF12 LAX-SYD departing 4/6 was delayed 24 hours.

As a result, today's QF7 SYD to DFW has been delayed until 08.00 tomorrow morning.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Extraordinary run of bad luck on QF29 today leading to a three hour delay. First a tech problem requiring an aircraft and gate swap. A big issue considering they had already begun loading catering etc. To make it worse for those up the front, it was a swap from a refurbished to non refurb bird leading to some pissy people.

Finally they let us board an hour and 20 minutes late. Then the waiting began......

First continued slow loading and arrival of final catering and just as that was completed, some selfish prick decided they were no longer wanting to travel. A half hour wait for free ground staff to come and COMMENCE looking for his bag to offload. While all this is going on a pax in Y was clearly very pissed and getting a bit threatening and violent, his distressed partner apologising and saying that he was an alcoholic and that he must have somehow got access to booze while she went to the bathroom twice. She brought this to the attention of crew who took him away to talk to them. When they decided he wasn't fit to fly he apparently got really violent so now another bag to find and offload. He poor partner was sitting hysterically sobbing and she decided to travel on herself, clearly very embarrassed. All in all one of the most frustrating series of delays I've ever experienced.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

Qantas Source reporting OQF has undertaken a test flight today so it appears a return to service is near. Currently 8 weeks out of service.

Re: General Qantas Delays/Cancellations/etc. Discussion

QF18 is delayed 5 hours to a 5am departure. This is the latest departure I've seen for this flight because usually crew hours run out.
