Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Are you suggesting QF64 will then fly as QF7?

Sprucegoose, as it turns out, yes it is.

B789 VH-ZNG is just arriving as QF64 from JNB in SYD at gate at about 1928 hours, 363 minutes late. It is then to operate QF7 that should depart at around 2045 if FR24 is to be believed, though 2110 would be a better guess I reckon.

QF1 (1705 hours SD-SIN-LHR) moved off blocks at about 1920 so should shortly take off with A388 VH-OQG.

A333 VH-QPJ is on QF104 ex HNL, arriving SYD at 1945 hours, 65 minutes tardy.

When I looked earlier, there did seem to be a bunch of delays in/out of BNE. Was it an airport thing or the specific aircraft thing?

there is a possibility of weather delay in Sydney due to the wet weather - even the cricket lost a day's play today at the SCG!

Yes, it’s been pretty ordinary here in SYD (re QF 1) but BNE looked ok (re QF 51)?

@Melburnian1 Please check the delay of QF51 from BNE to SIN on 06/01- scheduled 1105 departure did not take off until 1737, now arriving at 2308 - its VH-EBN, A333-200 service

Storms may well explain this, but after tracking northwesterly from BNE, a little while ago QF51 turned southwest near Burketown, Queensland. Perhaps this may add a bit more running time.

B789 VH-ZNG on the 1755 hours QF7 SYD-DFW did not take off until 2201. Same day arrival should be at 1950 hours, 240 minutes late, delaying the returning QF8.

Strangely FR24 has this landing (not arriving at gate) at DFW at 2245 which is incorrect. On this occasion, the QF flight status page is accurate I reckon.

QF25 (2135 hours SYD-HND) is delayed until 2220 hours.

This is causing a delay also to QF36 which is now due to depart SIN to MEL 4 hrs 40 mins late at 12:20.

QF69, the 0920 hours MEL-DEL A332 is expected to shortly depart at 1305 hours, 225 minutes behind schedule. The aircraft is A332 VH-EBN that as tomlee1986 and Flyerqf infomed us was delayed from BNE to SIN yesterday and back overnight to MEL, arriving at 1145 hours, 275 minutes tardy.

No evidence of any of the 20 'operationally spare' aircraft QF claims to have being able to substitute to get QF69 up up and away with a smaller delay, but depends where they are and what model aircraft as QuickStatus pointed out on the 'QFi diverted via ATH' thread.

On Saturday 7 January 2023, QF19 (1225 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL) is expected to shortly depart at 1500 hours. Redeye QF20 back to SYD will inevitably be also tardy.

B789 VH-ZNE on QF21 (1400 hours long flight MEL-DFW) was expected to push back at 1435.

I believe due to range and crew rest, there are only 8 frames that can cover this route - 332 EBM-EBV. None of them are spares today.

A333 VH-QPD arrived in SYD on Saturday 7 January 2022 at 0952 hours as (freight?) flight QF7722 from HKG and then DRW. It formed a delayed QF19 to MNL, taking off at 1504 hours with suggested at gate arrival 130 minutes late at 1940 hours.

A388 VH-OQG on 'the 1' took off from SIN this morning at 0237 hours so an 0849 hours at gate arrival is the go at LHR, 154 minutes behind the timetable.

B789 VH-ZNG is on Friday 6's 2125 hours DFW across to SYD QF8, airborne at 2241, so Sunday 8 morning arrival should be at 0822 hours, 52 behind.

The LAX-BNE QF16 is a Sunday early arrival mooted for 0534 hours, 34 behind. Aircraft is A332 VH-EBM.

Continuing with Saturday 7, A333 VH-QPC arrived in SYD on QF146 (ex AKL) at 1838 in the early evening, 48 minutes behind its schedule. It is forming the perenially late QF103 (2040 hours SYD-HNL) that by 2148 had yet to become airborne.

Expect QF104 in its usual way to be delayed by at least half an hour in arriving SYD at its designated gate tomorrow night.

QF1420 CBR-SYD 08/01/2023 - Cancelled.

Funnily, CBR airport website still shows the flight as "Final Call" 🤣

On a side note, QF is starting to move from paper refreshment/meal vouchers for flight delays/cancellations to a prepaid card ... not sure when the prepaid card is going to go live though. I'm told that this change is for CBR, no clear indication for other airports yet

Airborne at 2215, arrive at 1037 (scheduled was 0925 arrival)

On Sunday 8 January, QF2 (A388 VH-OQG) should arrive SIN 34 minutes late at 1804 hours in the very early evening.

Given QF19's above delay, QF20 on 8 January arrived SYD at 0808 hours (113 minutes behind its timetable) with A333 VH-QPD.

A332 VH-EBN arrived DEL on 7 January at 2157 (327 minutes late) as QF69 from MEL. The returning 1815 hours QF70 was not in the sky until 0048 hours local time this morning, so anticipated MEL arrival should be 1805 hours tonight, 360 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZND is on QF9 from PER to LHR with arrival at gate suggested as 0535 hours, half an hour tardy.

Colleague ZNE arrived DFW yesterday at 1333 hours, 48 minutes late as QF21 from Melbourne.

QF103 arrived HNL at 1044 hours on Saturday 7, 79 minutes behind schedule, with A333 VH-QPC. It as usual is operating QF104 back down to SYD. Takeoff was at 1338 hours after it overstayed in HNL, so tonight's at gate SYD time should be 2030 hours, 110 minutes late.
