A332 VH-EBA arrived in MEL today at 1317 hours, 482 minutes late as its 2345 hours scheduled 30 June redeye from PER, QF764 did not take off until 0801 this morning. It is forming that 1200 'high noon' MEL to SIN QF35 that has an altered 205 minute late proposed pushback at 1525, the time I'm typing this. I assume another A332 may have failed and therefore EBA had to travel to PER and back.
VH-EBA arrived in Perth with QF72 from Singapore at 00:01 AWST this morning, just 11 minutes late. That scheduled arrival is 5 minutes after QF764 was scheduled to depart. All the A332s that arrived in Perth on Friday evening, have now left Perth, so its not clear which was the delay culprit.
 
OQL turned around to operate an extra MEL-LAX flight as QF95
This is to get the aircraft back to LAX where they will have the spare based and rotating back through QF11/12/17/18 to move the 787 in and out of maintenance. For example, Monday, QF11 is 787 but the return is A380 and the 787 enters maintenance.

More correctly "... and a B789 enters maintenance". It may not be the one operating the Monday QF11 - this sometimes turns around and operates the next QF94, with the B789 that arrives with QF93 just 15 minutes after QF11 (assuming that both are on schedule) being the one that stays for service. With 3 days before a B789 operated QF18 late on Thursday completes the rotation, there are 4 possible scenarios : 1 B789 in LAX Maintenance for the full period; or 1 for two days & one for 1 day; or vice versa; or three for a day each.
FWIW, in the 14 weeks since this rotation was initiated back on 27 March, the B789 that operated the QF11, has not been the one to operate the return QF18.
 
Sunday 2 July 2023 sees QF3, the 0935 hours SYD-AKL and then lengthy flight to JFKL still taxiing as at 1041 hours. Aircraft is B789 VH-ZNL. that had arrived this morning at 0632 hours, 17 minute slate from an also lengthy journey from DFW in the USA.

Today the timetable calls for a 1440 hours arrival at AKL: some day's it's '1435 hours' as 'the 3' departs five minutes earlier at 0930. This must be to do with slot availability in SYD or, less likely, AKL. Odd.

UPDATE: QF3 was airborne at 1044 hours. Gate arrival is suggested as 1517 hours, 37 late.

QF19 (1215 hours SYD-MNL) is expected to depart at 1315.

The A332 as QF41, normally the 1345 hours early afternoon SYD to CGK, will be far worse, with anticipated departure not until 1930 hours in the early evening. QF42 will end up departing Jakarta at some non-preferred time.

In more on 2 July 2023, QF104, the perenially delayed 1200 'high noon' HNL-SYD flight that took off on Saturday 1 at 1313 should arrive at 1932 hours, 52 minutes late. A333 VH-QPC is the conveyance.

This morning, QF25 arrived HND at 0705 hours, 100 minutes late with A333 VH-QPD.

VH-EBA (A332) arrived MEL on Sunday 2 as QF36 from SIN at 0803 hours, 143 minutes behind schedule.

QF88 from ICN back overnight down to SYD is normally a good runner, but on Sunday, A333 VH-QPG arrived at 1157 hours, 202 minutes late. It had been ten minutes early arriving on QF87 last night in Seoul, so not sure what went awry. Today's unpunctuality may explain the forecast hour long delay to QF19 to MNL.

It appears as if repercussions from Friday's single runway operations in Sydney until 1445 hours on 30 June have continued into Sunday 2 July.

The Saturday 1 July QF648 1240 hours lunchtime PER to SYD did not depart until 0643 on Sunday 2 July, taking off at 0652 hours with A332 VH-EBG. Arrival should be at 1236 hours, 2151 minutes (just under 36 hours) late. Not much good if one was hoping to have a long weekend in Sydney, or attend an AFL/NRL match or other such timed function.
 
Continuing with Sunday 2 July, QF19 ended up taking off at 1343 hours with A333 VH-QPD that as surmised above was very late in from Seoul. MNL gate arrival should be approximately 1925, 35 behind.
 
On Saturday 1 July 2023, A332 VH-EBM was on QF923, the 1350 hours CNS down to SYD up up and away at 1602 hours due to previous flight QF922 arriving at 1437 hours, 107 minutes late. 'The 923' arrived SYD at 1828 hours, 103 late.

After an overnight stay, it then formed the Sunday 2 July extremely late QF41 that had been advertised as departing the international terminal at 1930 instead of 1345 - that is, 345 minutes behind schedule. This managed to depart at 1943 hours and take off from SYD at 1955, so expected CGK arrival in Indonesia becomes 0026 hours on Monday 3, 341 late.

I think you will find that the EBM arrived as QF923 on Saturday hasn’t flown since.

The QF922/QF923 flights were on Saturday 1, not Sunday 2 July: I have corrected these above. Apologies!

However it operated QF41/42 on Sunday 2, arriving back in Sydney this morning (Monday 3) at 1056 hours, 271 minutes behind schedule.
 
On Sunday 2 July 2023, A332 VH-EVBA operated QF72 from SIN to PER, arriving on Monday 3 at 0013 hours, 12 minutes early. It then became QF766, the 0620 hours PER-MEL that arrived the latter at 1210 hours, 20 minutes late.

It then transferred to the international terminal, taking off as QF25 (the 1200 hours 'high noon' MEL-SIN) at 1447 hours so the expected at gate arrival becomes 2040 hours, 160 minutes behind schedule.

It wouldn't be normal for an 1150 hours timetabled domestic arrival to form a 1200 (noon) international departure, so a sister aircraft may have failed.

Monday's QF19 has A333 VH-QPG. It was in the sky at 1348 with suggested arrival at MNL (ex SYD) becoming 1934 hours in the early evening, 44 late. Very similar to Sunday 2.
 
Continuing with Monday 3 July, QF5, the 1820 hours initial leg from SYD across to PER saw B789 VH-ZNB take off at 1918 hours, with at gate arrival likely at 2150, half an hour late. The second sector to FCO is suggested as departing at 2250, on time, rather optimistic.

QF104 from HNL to SYD had A333 VH-QPA, and arrived tonight at 1930, 50 minutes behind schedule. One could use a single hand to count the number of monthly occasions this flight arrives its SYD gate less than 15 minutes 00 seconds late, as the changeover from QF103 continually loses time on the ground in HNL.
 
On a day of significance to the USA but not Australia, 4 July 2023, QF9, the mid afternoon 1505 hours MEL across to PER and then express to LHR is estimated to depart tonight at 2100, 355 minutes late, with suggested PER pushback becoming 0040 on Wednesday 5 instead of 1845 tonight, identically late. LHR arrival is likely to be after 1000 hours on Wednesday, so the 1155 hours ex London Heathrow QF10 may be delayed: too early to make an accurate prediction.

This is because it's being formed by QF10 ex PER and LHR with B789 VH-ZNH.

For the third time in four days, QF35 (1200 'high noon' MEL-SIN) is substantially tardy, with proposed pushback initially deferred to 1330, but it's become an estimated 1400 hours. VH-EBA, class leader of the A332s, is operating it for the third consecutive return trip; this morning, it arrived MEL as QF36 at 0734 hours, 69 minutes late. In theory, plenty of time to turn around. Are connecting passengers from say late runing flights from Hobart, Launceston or Adelaide delaying it today?

Earlier, QF101 from SYD up to NAN (the 0835 hours, B738 VH-VZH) took off at 0923, arriving at 1513 hours, 38 late.

Noit sure why the delay as with a quick look there weren't any delays to arrivals such as QF22 from DFW and QF94 ex LAX, nor last night's QF10 ex PER and before that, LHR.

Mechanical or crew? Either way with QFs overall LHR performance i wonder if they are back on the naughty list.

Yes, pre-COVID, from memory senior managers had to front London Heathrow management to explain why QFi could not run at anything close to time.

Many intercontinental flights are early arriving at Heathrow.

That has occurred in the last few days sometimes for QF1, but it's unusual. Without checking FlightStats, QF9 is generally better.

One can't say late tunning doesn't occur, but operators such as QR, SQ and WY are almost always on time, early or within 15 minutes of the timetabled arrival.

As an AFF wag said in another thread in response to an AFF article entitled "what to expect on QFi", his or her witticism was simple - "delays".

It's funny, but like most good jokes, has more than the ring of truth.

While I hate early morning 0500 or 0600 international arrivals irrespective of airline and origin/destination, if travellers wish to arrive at or close to time at an hour only suitable for sparrows, they should avoid QF1.

I looked up the UK"s CAA statistics.

So far in 2023, QF1 from Sydney (and Singapore) has had a median delay into Heathrow (I assume this is when it arrives at the gate, not just lands) of above 71 minutes. A shocker!

Well at least it's an improvement from calendar 2022 when QF1's median delay was just above 90 minutes.

Singapore Airlines: about 10.5 minutes, yet more daily flights than QFi from SIN to LHR.

China Airlines of Taiwan, a not overly well nown carrier that like Eva Air is underrated: 6.7 minutes median delay.

Says it all.
 
Still on Tuesday 4, QF104 from HNL with A333 class leader VH-QPA should arrive in SYD at 1955 tonight, 75 late.

The Sunday 2 July QF4 from JFK to AKL (the 1930 hours) was airborne at 2049 with B789 VH-ZNL, arriving on Tuesday 4 at 0548 hours, 48 late. The second sector saw takeoff at 0751 (versus a timetabled 0630 hours pushback) with SYD gate arrival becoming 0902 hours, 52 behind.

QF25 (2020 hours early evening SYD-HND, A333 VH-QPA) is predicted to depart an hour late.

QF9 on Tuesday 4 has been further put back in proposed departure ex MEL, from 2100 hours to 2115, the latter being 370 minutes behind schedule.

UPDATE: It departed MEL at 2130 hours, 385 late. With good timings on both sectors, it might pick up a total of (just under?) an hour in the air, so whether it can pick up further time depends on how long the stay on the ground in Perth is. The best one could realistically hope for is LHR arrival at about 1020 local time on Wednesday 5 July.

QF9 took off from MEL at 2145 hours. PER at gate arrival is suggested as 2330 hours local time, 375 minutes tardy.

QF25 is further delayed to what was an expected departure from SYD at 2140 hours.

The heavily tardy QF9 (B789 VH-ZNH that had arrived in MEL nine late at 1849 hours as QF10) was in PER on Tuesday 4 (and Wednesday 5 July) from 2344 hours (389 minutes behind the timetable) to takeoff at 0152 hours. On 5 July, LHR arrival should be about 1143 hours, 398 late, and beyond what I'd estimated.

The Wednesday 5 QF10 (1155 hours LHR-PER-MEL) is optimistically predicted to depart LHR at 1310, to be in PER on Thursday 6 from 1255 to 1310 (an impossible 15 minute stop!) and to arrive MEL at 1840, on time. The second sector is another case of the QFi computer not adjusting timings until they're more certain.

QF25 tonight, the A333 at a mid evening 2020 hours from SYD overnight up to Japan's HND is showing as 'cancelled.' So is the Thursday 6 July HND-SYD, the 2200 hours redeye.

A333 VH-QPB on the overnight ICN down to SYD QF88 should arrive at 0903 hours, 33 behind.

QF36 (redeye SIN down to MEL) arrived at 0625 hours, 45 minutes late with A332 VH-EBK. 'The 20' from MNL to SYD was similar, with EBP arriving at gate at 0713 hours, 33 behind.

A332 VH-EBO on QF82, the 2030 hours SIN down to SYD was a lot more tardy, with takeoff at 0043 hours this morning meaning likely at gate arrival becomes 0937 hours, 192 minutes past the allotted. It was on 'the 81' yesterday that was 70 late into SIN at 1925 hours, so something must have transpired in Singapore.
