Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Qf126 yesterday delayed one hour then another hour at BNE while they got the bridge to work.

Qantas seems to be working on the domestic schedule?
My BNE-SYD for 20.03 got cancelled and now it doesn't even show the 5am and 5.25am flights online anymore, just on that day. The day before and after has those flights, weird.

QF462 16:00 MEL-SYD delayed 50 minutes (at this stage) staff offered for us to go on an earlier flight (the one scheduled later than our original flight) but didn’t have two seats in J for us, opted to risk the connection 🤞

QF 30 from HKG to MEL is cancelled late! The flight is VH-QPH - it arrived just 26 mins late into HKG @ 1826 as QF 29 BUT the Melbourne return is cancelled!!!

Following on with yesterday's cancellation - today's QF 29 is cancelled - therefore the plane stuck yesterday will operate today's QF 30 instead

The VH-QPH that was stuck in HKG on Friday 15/03/2024 finally operated the QF 30 on 16/03/2024 and delayed for almost 2 hrs instead of 1930 departure - departed at 2111 and now scheduled to arrive at 0940 instead of 0750

FYI - yesterday QF 29 MEL HKG on A332 VH-EBO took off at 1752 instead of 1140, arrived at 23:33 instead of 1800 HKT

Hence the return QF128 to SYD didn’t depart until 0141 the 06/04 - was meant to depart on 05/04 at 1930, and arrived 6 hrs later at 1317 instead of 0755

QF80 NRT-MEL 04APR was delayed 24+ hours.

During taxiing to the airstrip it was announced one hydraulic system was leaking. We spent 2 hours on tarmac and were towed to NRT cargo terminal where buses took us back to T2. We cleared custom and finally got baggage back around 0030.
Around 0100 Qantas staff told us they cannot arrange hotels due to being "a week-end and everything is fully booked". They then said we were on our own to find accommodation for the night; reimbursement of $200 per room would be available to those able to find a place, and $50 for transportation/taxi. They then start handling out SLEEPING BAGS so we could spend the night in the terminal. We took this option as we were 2 families of 4, each with 2 kids who were already tired and getting mental being nearly 2am when it was clear the only hotels available were close to Tokyo and it would've takem another hour and most lokely $200 to get there on a cab.

So we fully embraced the 'spirit of Australia' and camped on the floor of NRT T2, our new magic place.

We learnt in the morning the flight was to leave on 1600 05APR. Around noon the flight was further delayed to 1950. Finally, further 30 mins were added while waiting at the gate, so we started boarding at 1955 and finally departed at 2107, more than 24 hours later the original schedule.

Glad you made it home safely- and your aircraft in question is VH-QPC - 20 year old A330-300 aircraft

From what I can see it was VH-EBV, the newest A330-200 that was unserviceable on 04-Apr. It operated the following night back to BNE as QF62.

The VH-QPC aircraft that operated the delayed flight actually arrived in to NRT on 05-Apr as QF79.

That's correct, VH-QPC (330-300) in fact transported the spares to fix VH-EBV (330-200).
We (VH-QPC) flew as QF80D just ahead of the regular QF80.

Is there a rule around the delays duration? E.G. after how long a delay can be stretched? And the fact the plane was changed/flight code was changed has any impact on a delay becoming a cancellation?

QF104 Monday 15/4 delayed from a midday departure to 6:30am the following day. No contact from Qantas other than to let me know, had to organise additional accom myself etc. Plane also downgraded to A330.

Anyone know why this has happened? And why they're still selling tickets to the original 787 flight, departing at the same time?
