Qantas disguises first class seats as $20 ‘cabin in the clouds’ on Airbnb

I'm not sure that it does mean exactly that, @TommyH. There's no provision that suggests they can just keep your $20, so cancelled reservations could mean that you didn't meet the criteria, ie having the points available or providing the correct information, or trying to book twice. It does suggest to me that at least 9 people have had a go, as there may be others who have not responded yet and their deposit is still being held. End of the day it doesn't tell us a lot but it does tell us some, and the some that I pick up is it's a low volume for 5 days now of offers.

Once a member’s request to book has been received a Qantas Frequent Flyer team representative will then get in contact to confirm their Frequent Flyer number and necessary points balance.
• Once the information is verified a Qantas customer care agent will book the flights (and the$20 holding fee will be refunded).

the way it says cancelled the trip x amount of days before the trip makes me think these are the confirmed bookings which have been cancelled to refund the $20

Yes, but all bookings will be ultimately cancelled won't they, not just those that are successful. This doesn't say only the successful bookings will be cancelled.

Yes, they've thrown up the 500 error page again for the QFF profile.

@TommyH Correct. But only 6 trips have been claimed. Mel-LAX F, Syd-JFK J, LHR-Syd J, Syd-HKG J, Syd-SCL J, plus one other.

I don't think you can make a booking and pay the $20 unless you are successful - otherwise there would be hundreds of failed bookings.

though perhaps you are right, maybe these people booked it and then maybe changed their minds once it all went through.

Read through again. You have to pay to make the booking on the spot (it's explained by multiple people in this thread). That is your holding deposit. QFF then contact you and ask for your FF # and deduct the points. If you don't have them, don't respond, etc. they aren't going to keep the $20 holding deposit are they?

I understand the concern of those (like me) that have never found any listings via searches. (Not even unavailable ones). Are we really doing the right search? That is the frustrating thing, as we may be wasting a lot of time doing the wrong method.
I think us wasting time is the entire objective of the promo- the longer we look, the longer we are consuming both Qantas and Airbnb content, and all their advertising.

I can't be the only one that has discovered those Unique Homes options and thought, 'I want to stay in a castle'.

I just missed out on this one 2 minutes ago. Searched in the app $20 and unique stay plane for 2 people. LHR to Syd 8th October 2019.
