Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

Except P1 and WP wouldn't be using the J check-in in MEL.
Well F check in only recently re-opened, so they would have prior to that (as I had earlier in the year), but also not all know where the F check in is, or even that they may be able to use it - specially if they're in J(or even a lower class).

But yes, you're correct that WP/P1/CL have another option to check in.

Perhaps they reused a priority check-in sign and thought "She'll be al'right"...
I've witnessed the exact opposite issue at SYD (reused a priority boarding sign at check-in)

Except P1 and WP wouldn't be using the J check-in in MEL.
Sure, but the business signs almost always say WP and P1, since they list everyone eligible. IME only the fixed lounge signs skip WP and P1 when there is a FLounge avaliable.

I should have added, when they called boarding they didn't mention silver but I think did mention Y+.

So RichardMEL and Berlin are (as predicted here) are on the money.

Except P1 and WP wouldn't be using the J check-in in MEL.

My position (and I may be wrong on this) is that a P1 and WP can use any check-in queue and any boarding queue from their tier down. Just like I'll use the non-priority boarding lane if the priority lane is out the door, I also feel I'm permitted to use the vanilla check-in desks if I see fit.

Qf544 Syd Bne got the boarding phone buzz in the lounge. Got to the gate and the most orderly economy q for Qf I have ever seen. Business lane free and no traffic backup in the tunnel.
Push back on time. All bags were being checked for size and weight pre security with people being directed to bag check when outsized. Small changes making life better for all.

That'/s good, but just one (possibly random) data point. It needs to consistently be like this at all ports, for all flights to be considered "better".

Priority boarding strictly enforced on our Darwin to Sydney flight on Monday. The it was the back rows of the plane and then finally the front rows.
This was mentioned several times over the loud speaker. Very orderly on a full plane.

QF529 BNE to SYD. Economy boarding starts whilst the priority queue is still sizeable. Predictably the tunnel jams up despite dual boarding. Flight is the standard QF 20 minutes late.

Silver’s too deep in the order for PB. I wouldn’t be surprised if those 5 people waiting were all that was left to board if that’s the new threshold 😜
I'm waiting for the signs to be updated to recognize those of us with Lifetime Bronze status. 😂

Qf451 because the 1 o’clock was cancelled and everyone has been rammed in the 230 Syd to Mel. PB seems to be enforced but only one person scanning passes. Flight delayed at least 20 minutes.

QF 616 today MEL BNE enforced the best I have ever seen it. Priority called and one person from general walked straight across to the front of priority line and denied several times, despite her insistence she was a priority.. Well done Qantas.

When we boarded QF12 a couple days ago we were called for pre-boarding due to travelling with a toddler. But they called it twice, and with different instructions both times. Then they started boarding F in one of those two lines they had created with their confusing messaging. No big dramas but there were some confused faces around. Also, I don't think they expected us to be in J as they tried to direct us towards the rear of the plane when we approached the J chute.

So they didcare about priority but it was was a bit messy 🤔
