Sorry for a hijack but on the topic of JohnK's predictable weekly flights. I'm considering some jobs in CBR (14% pay increase) or SYD (95% pay increase) but living in ADL.

Seriously, I have done this for 6 weeks and 8 weeks and it can get bldly lonely at times. However, in the short term it was ok. (Judicious spouse related extravagance funded by cash Travel Allowance assisted.)

It depends what is important in your life.

If it is family and friends then I would not recommend a weekly commute.

If it is money (95% salary increase sounds great) and you don't mind being alone most of the time the weekly commute (although it gets boring and tiring) is bearable.

As I did not have a job at the time the decision was relatively easy for me. Still I get extremely tired and try to cram too much in the extremely short weekend. Also the sleeping patterns change (in BNE sun is up before 5:00am in summer and it gets dark early all year round) even with the short commute. But better commuting with flights on weekends than driving >1 hour each way to work every day....
 
I have a weekly commute, though it's (2 hours) by car rather than plane, and I can attest to the fact that your real life almost goes 'on hold'. The weekends are very short, and there is no 'continuity' - by that I mean if you commence a task or venture on the weekend, you usually cannot pick it up again till the following weekend - often not an efficient way of doing things.

There is a limit to how long you can do this - haven't reached mine yet.

PS. Am single, so no family considerations.
