There are no redeyes/overnights spent onboard. Purposely avoided them as it'd be far too taxing on someone flying it.
So that means you need to add accommodation, meals (would spend more on food away than back at home), so the non-flight costs would be more significant. 4 nights accommodation + food could easily add over $1k to the cost.

Thanks for all the discussion and recommendations.

As someone with an 31 Jan year-end, and having just requalified for SG per 1 Jan 2024, I will pass this one. The cost is just too high atm and "fingers" crossed, that QF does another one next year with by then lower airfares. At the same time, obviously, the 250 SC roll-over, 100 PC+ and my intl. trip this week helped immensely to just requalify for SG by end of March.

Oh well, I hope I won't regret it come 1 Feb 2024 that I pass now :-)

Subjective - depends where you are based. It particularly suits those who are SYD based as you only need to pay for 3 nights accom, which lets assume $200/night at an airport hotel, adds $600. Still quite reasonable for the earn.

Hi All.
So this may well have already been answered but I can't find it.
I have a couple of international flights I need to book, but not sure I will be able to sort out the dates before the 28th.
Any way to book and then bank a flight keeping DSC?
If I book a domestic flight with DSC for early next year, can I change it ( with the change fee as expected, or for free if it is a Flex) to an international flight and pay the difference and still get DSC for the International flights.
If Flex, can I just book a flight and then do some sort of cancel / credit to keep the DSC on that credit and then book any flight later on?
Any other options for something like this.

Anyone else having issues with multi city and looking at "all other flights" on any of the provided legs? I always get an error.
Thanks
XD

While the t+C seem to say it won't work, if the booking reference does not change and it stays within the promotion period, it may still count (in fact I'm expecting it to).

Anyone else having issues with multi city and looking at "all other flights" on any of the provided legs? I always get an error.
Yes, quite a bit when trying to book a multicity last week. Try looking it up on Google flights and then clicking through to Qantas (though that doesn't always work either)

Given previous experiences with DSC and flight changes, it should work but we never now if QF IT has caught up to actually enforce the T&Cs. I believe the T&Cs won't permit it as it needs to be booked within the promotional booking period.

The multi-city tool is a bit buggy. Try incognito to see if it makes it better.

Question - If I make a booking today (during DSC) and want to add a few more members to the PNR, say sometime later this year - will this incur any additional fee ?

Acknowledge that ;

1. If I change my name in the PNR, then it will incur a $99 name change fee
2. Only members of my travel party who registered for DSC during the promo window will be eligible for the DSC, otherwise, it will just be me who will get DSC

Apologies if this has been asked and answered. Anyone else getting technical errors when trying to sign up to this promo? Have tried the last 4 days and getting nothing. Thanks

I actually have the same question as you.

Also wanted to add that I have noticed on some recent international fares a name change was not permitted.

Could someone please give me an example of a business classic reward itinerary that I can book to gain 360 SCs to bump from silver to gold status with this promotion? Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Happy to travel anywhere domestically or to NZ

Reward?! first you need to find seats, but the reduced rate of SC earn (assuming you are PC or PC+) means you'd need a number, and quite a bit, of trips to get to 360 - with the associated charges, you may be better off to do a SC run like MEL-SYD-OOL in J (which would get 320 SC with DSC) or say MEL-BNE-CNS/TSV in a mix of J and Y which could earn 360 exactly) for yes, a bit of an outlay, but given the reward SC earn is reduced for dom and trans-tas SC, you'd need more travel than that, assuming you can find it right now, to earn the 180 pre SC to earn.

for example, a MEL/SYD-PER transcon REWARD in J would arn 38 SC one way, so you'd need about 3 of those return to make your 180. Or, MEL/SYD/BNE/ADL-NZ in J earns 32 SC in J, so again you'd need 3 return reward flights to earn enough pre DSC to earn 360.

even if you get creative like MEL-SYD-BNE-PER or something, you'd still need quite a bit of effort to do it with reward seats.

Thank you Richard, sounds better to pay a bit for a MEL-SYD-OOL run...Thank you!

to clarify my above post I added in that I was referring to reward sc earn for PC/PC+ in the examples I gave. It wasn't clear originally that's what I meant :)

MEL-SYD/BNE-CNS and return would give you 256 184SCs including the DSC on PC/PC+ classic rewards. You could then do another run with just the shorter segments, like MEL-SYD-OOL and return for much of the remainder (earns 144SCs). Not really worth going across the ditch, as the SCs for business are only slightly better than a 751-1500 mile domestic flight. More on the earn rates here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...ne-earning-tables/classic-flight-rewards.html

EDIT: correcting earn on the first run... had added an extra short leg flight each way by accident.

I calculate for MEL-BNE-CNS 112 SC each way with DSC, so 224 SC. How do you get 256? (each sector earns 28 SC in J reward at 751-1500 band). As for MEL-SYD-OOL, that would be 144 with DSC yes for a return flight. So you'd still need to redeem 2.5 of those to get over the 360 hurdle, while 2 trips MEL-BNE-CNS would reach the goal.

Priced out MEL-BNE-CNS J reward - 81,000 points + $168.

With my calculation, you'd need more than the 144 (just a few !) to make 360 so adding MEL-SYD-OOL wouldn't work - unless I've made an error. Thus, you'd need 2x the MEL-BNE-CNS, or you coul do MEL-BNE-CNS one way, and come back via SYD (for an A330 and btter avail) to still make it work, or possibly just MEL-CNS nonstop (or v.v) on the 2nd trip on one leg would also get there.

There's going to be a trade off of course between doing multiple trips to achieve the goal vs one paid. everyone's mileage will vary on that.

Oops! :D I think I was adding in an extra short leg each way... I'll fix the calculation above. Perhaps if it was possible to do MEL-SYD-BNE-CNS... but might not be possible to book that one as an award, even if it can be constructed. Multi-city may work? Flight times could be a challenge.

Cheers,
Matt.

Maybe something else to throw into the mix might be OOL-ADL-MEL and v.v. that would get 92SC one way with DSC if my head maths works out correctly.

this all depends on one's starting point of course.
