VA in February. They had significantly cheaper options too less than $2 per SC was achievable and since you need less SC for tiers, it would've been much cheaper to hit WP.

VA WP has always been much cheaper to get than QF WP.

Whether it's equal value, probably not unless you only fly domestic.

Ready to buy HBA -MEL -SYD -LHR return (double domestic for SC earn) can get through past seat selection and then website dies. Guessing I'll have to brave the phone...

Nope, 'premium' call centre couldn't help as apparently there is NO availablity on the 1st of August from Syd to Mel, (LHR-SYD and MEL-HBA fine). Does anyone know if I can just book a flex fare and change it later to add in more sectors do you still get the cheap domestic legs?

I note the T&Cs now state that gift vouchers purchased but not redeemed during the promotional period will not attract the bonuses.
Anyone have any recent experience of whether they have actually changed anything to make this effective?

I did see some work experience kids hanging around QF IT centre back door a few weeks ago so they were enhancing some bell or whistle on the machine but whether those bits are connected to the springs and sprockets that handle gv/dsc tracking who knows..? 🫣

Hows the SYD-HNL route in QF Y, is it manageable for 10 hours or so? Might just book a CR Y flight, very hard to find J availability on that route. Only 104 SC under the DSC period, but going there anyway.

I've done it heaps, all but one in Y.

I think it's fine - HNL-SYD especially so due to the timings, day flight, depart mid morning and arrive in SYD at sunset. No pressure to sleep and the service on board is usually really good because most people stay awake - just spend the time watching movies etc.

SYD-HNL less good due to the timings, but the A330 is not that bad since you get to HNL fairly early in the morning, I usually try to organise an early check in. SYD-HNL still miles better than SYD-LAX due to the much shorter flight.

I basically refuse to fly Aus-US in Y unless it's via HNL. It really does break the trip up.

Have a few 2+ pax classic awards coming up.. have split the PNRs as an experiment to see whether anyone scores a double shot..

That's a near idea. Does splitting generate two new PNRs? I might have to try this too.

It generates one new PNR and keeps one existing.

Do you know which way around it is? Ie, the account that does the splitting, does it keep the existing PNR and the other the new PNR? Or is it based off the account that originally made the booking?

You can pick who goes onto the new PNR. For simple bookings you can do it online via MMB, for complex booking you need to phone.

This is what keeps me coming back to AFF. Brilliant stuff. Can't wait to hear the results of this experiment.

Expected a Kia Ora sale the past weekend, the Sale fares to NZ still greater than the Saver fare for iternaries with 1 stop. Ah well... sale fares probably back to normal once DSC ends.

I posted about splitting existing award bookings during last years promo….

Anyone have any experience/idea on this:

4 passengers on Classic Award Flight Australia-NZ Booked and Ticketed February 2022
1 passenger is Points Club so will earn SC's for trip.

If I split the Points Club passenger off the original PNR during the DSC booking window (March 25-April 1), the Qantas website says it will create a new PNR. Would this new PNR be eligible for DSC or would the original February booking date transfer over to the new PNR?

Not sure cancelling and rebooking is an option for us as the classic award seats are no longer available on the dates we have ticketed.

I rang premium line during DSC week, got HBA, and asked to split booking and for only my ticket to be put on a new PNR. It eventually got DSC, but required manaul intervention and a call to the FF service centre to post. This occurred in winter 2022. Hope that helps.

Interrupted my hols in Istanbul today (actually having a rest day ;) ) to make a series of last minute Qf bookings on the last day of the double SC promo to maintain Plat for another year...my 14th year of Plat status....want to keep my Plat status mainly for classic award releases and reaching Hobart calling centre ;)
