Managed to get PER-SYD-DRW-ADL-MEL to stick on AS for 20k points. Fingers crossed, should get 132 SC (or 264 during DSC)
Wowee, nice work! I can't get a two leg domestic award redemption to stick on multicity, always errors before the payment page. Tried on chrome on iPad and desktop. If anyone has any tricks, please let me know!

I ended up booking:

SYD-MEL QF Award 14SC
MEL-BNE-CHC-MEL-OOL for $1800/560SC
OOL-SYD JQ Max Fare 20SC $130
OOL-MEL-AKL-MEL-OOL for $1600/560SC
OOL-MEL-SYD AS Award 92SC

This will push me over the P1 line for the first time and I'll reach LTG finally!

If you can see the avail on QF, maybe give AS a ring. I have a similar issue where it has difficulty confirm availablity but CSR was real easy to deal with.

I’d suggest they did separate bookings. I’ve failed too. But having a status run go sour with separate bookings I’d not do it again. Maybe they rang?

I remember reading a blogger having issues booking multi-city tickets and booked the initial flight first then call to get the CSR to add the subsequent segments. I had to book OOL-MEL first then I tried to add MEL-SYD on but that broke the ticket where the PNR couldn't be retreived. Called AS and they had to hold the seats while it was sent for re-issuing.

Yes, booked an initial multi-segment and made the changes online. It is limiting on what can be changed. Had to be all on the same day or less than 24 hours between the segments I think

Very helpful, thanks all. Lowly SG at the moment so might book in a placeholder for now and roll the dice on changing it later, if I hit WP...

Would booking it in now and making changes later still qualify for DSC? Is it based on the PNR only?

T&Cs exclude this but I am hoping things will be different in practise.

Hello! Hoping to get some help please...

I made a PE Flex revenue booking LHR-MEL to take advantage of the DSC. The booking was made last Friday. I've since realised that if I actually fly AMS-LHR-MEL, the price drops by $1100AUD.

I want to take advantage of this, as I have a few flexible days to kill before departure, which I'm happy to spend in Amsterdam.

A couple of questions:
1. Is it better to make a new booking for the AMS-LHR-MEL flights, then cancel my other booking? I checked the MMB function, but it only allows for date changes, not a change to the departure city.
2. Should I make this change online, or call an agent? Is there a change fee if done over the phone?

If making a new booking is the way to go, I obviously want to do that by end of day to get the DSC.

Thank you!

I don't see any downsides of making a new booking, so that's what I'd do, given changing the departure city is not possible online.

Well, the only downside is you'd have to wait for the refund, but given it's a Flex ticket you shouldn't have any worries about it.

You can't change this online. The contact centre will likely ask you to pay a $77 charge for the change via the agent, since you are not just changing the dates but also the whole itinerary and thus will need a whole new fare. You can try asking for a waiver of this since you aren't able to make the change online. I think it might be easier just to book the new fare and get a refund of the previous one, if you are certain you can get a full refund without fees (see below).

Note there is an exception during peak periods - "Cancellation (including no show) Before departure: Full Refund, except except: for travel 1 December 2022 to 31 January 2023 and 21 June to 31 July 2023, a fee of A$750 applies."

Perfect, thank you both @encryptededdy & @jpp42
I will go ahead and make the new booking and cancel this one. Travel is in September so avoids the peak period as described in the cancellation policy.
I know it's how airlines work, but it's very frustrating that adding the AMS-LHR leg to the original leg of LHR-MEL (exact same flight) results in such a big fare decrease!

Note also, that if you booked within the last 24 hours that you should be able to cancel the original booking with no penalties at all. Make the new booking first, and then you can cancel the original under this policy: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/manage-booking/cancel-for-any-reason.html

Cheers,
Matt.

If you can find a day with J availability BNE-MEL, that would bump up the SCs. For example, PER-xSYD-xDRW-xBNE-MEL. I've only been able to find Y BNE-MEL.

Not the most creative routes and pricing but opted for these:

SYD-MEL-SYD in CR J (U)
SYD-HNL-SYD in CR Y (X)
SYD-MEL-PER-MEL-SYD in CR J (U)

All I could think of now, haven't decided what I am going to do around the Christmas/New Year period. WP is still a long way away but should be enough to retain SG

It doesn't make up the whole difference, but part of this would be the £185 air passenger duty when departing the UK, that is not payable if transiting only.

Ahh, thanks for the insight. I never think to look at the breakdown of fees and taxes.

Is it possible to add flights to domestic reward bookings? This used to be run-of-the-mill for building OWAs, but haven't been following along that conversation for some time now.

Long time member, long time lurker (and exceedingly sporadic poster! 🙃). Apologies if this isn't in the right location. I've got two questions with which I'm hoping folks can assist please?
  1. I know what it says in the T&Cs, but in practice, how quickly does everyone usually see their DSCs post (including for CA flights with PC/PC+)?
Reason I ask... I'm currently SG and If I've done my sums correctly when adding up rollover SCs, loyalty bonus, forward bookings (including some CA flights as a PC member), I should earn enough to attain WP (once the DCSs are credited). All the afore-mentioned qualifying travel should be complete by May 2nd. Wondering what my chances are of being recognised as WP by 2nd half of May as I have a subsequent SYD->HND flight in the 2nd half of May as I have an upgrade request that's been lodged since November and am hoping WP will improve my chances of success? Would also love to use the appropriate lounges in both SYD and HND ;)
  2. I'm looking to book a surprise trip for a family member during the final hours of the DSC offer. I want them to benefit from the offer, but have no knowledge of the booked trip. I've already secretly signed them up for the offer, but am unsure what options I have re: associating their FF number with the booking? i.e. If I link their number now, they'll be able to see the booking in their app and that ruins the surprise. If I don't link their FF number now, and do it later at a time when it's ok for them to know, will they still be able to benefit from the DSC promotion? If it matters, I'll be travelling on the same booking so it would already be linked to my FF number (for DSC).
Appreciate any wisdom the community can offer.
Cheers!
