I guess the obvious question now is - when is the next DSC likely to be? :D
I was just thinking that. A need for some bookings after Feb next year have come onto my radar!

Thinking ahead to future DSC promotions, under the current terms and conditions if you booked an around the world ticket rather than a multi-city ticket would it still qualify for DSC on Qantas metal?

What earn category are RTW flights classed as?

Probably silly questions, but I've never booked through the RTW booking tool and am trying to work out what might be easier for a holiday late next year while maximising SCs.

A RTW ticket is just a really long multi-city itinerary.

There's no set earn category. It depends on the fare you purchase (not just which cabin you're travelling in, but which fare bucket also)

No problem, just to confirm, you are talking about a cash RTW fare?

Ah ok, so on that basis I would think if it was booked within a future DSC window then it would qualify.

Yes, it would very likely be a cash fare, had figured it would probably count as flexible economy, but sounds like it would end up being quite complex. I've always found the RTW interface really difficult to use from an earn category point of view.

Thanks for that information.

This morning I called QF on 131313 and I was pleasantly surprised call was picked up on third ring - maybe because of my newly-minted platinum status - and I asked for adjustment to rollover SC. 250 additional SCs and the person told me she would send an internal email to the right team for actioning the additional SCs which she reckoned would take 3 to 5 business days to process. This afternoon further SCs have posted. Now 1,150 for year beginning 1 May.

If I requalify for platinum for further 12 months in say June, does the anniversary shift to June from April?

No

You are already Platinum through to 30 April 2024 (your newly minted platinum status from 1 May 2023, if I read this correctly). That you will shortly requalify for Platinum so early in your QFF year is great news - once you requalify you will be Platinum through to 30 April 2025.

When DSC promotions land does anyone still buy a cheap flex booking so as they have it tucked away ready to use once they are ready to plan a holiday later?

Does anyone know if flying ahead (is asking in a lounge for an earlier flight or accepting one via the app) impact the DSC?

It shouldn't as a new PNR is unlikely to be generated.

However, that depends on how such a change is enacted.

Ok so I stuck with my planned time in Melbourne.

On a side note my DSC flights have been crediting within 24 hours of travel.

Regular status credits also speedy, a delayed MEL-BNE flight awarded status credits whilst boarding was still ongoing!

Just been advised it can take 6 to 8 weeks for DSCs to apply. Been waiting over a week now.

I have a future flight (with DSC benefit) which I need to change - will I keep DSC on new flights?

As long as your changes keep the original PNR, and your flights are within the validity period, you will be right.
