Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

Just booked flights today over the phone using old credits. I was advised that flight credits now qualify for DSC.

Apparently it's a new feature with the changes made to the use of credits. She advised that these credits might take longer to post but they do have a process to manage it. She wasn't convinced about the process working as planned. She did advise to take note of the booking ref etc post flight for potential follow up.

Hello. Hopefully I’m asking a question that is not asked before. I went thru all the 8 pages and couldn’t find the question I’m about to ask. However, I’m sick as a dog and I could have easily missed something. So apologies in advance.

In addition to the DSC/DP, there is also DP for QBR users. My question is, can I choose DSC for my QFF and then go to QBR and activate DP and get both DSC and DP when QBR # is entering the booking?

Some people have reported getting SCs on award flights on OW partner airlines such as BA or AA.

Personally i have flown on many AA and BA awards and got no SCs.

SCs for award flights on QF no problem!
Malaysian for me.

What is this about? Am I missing something here?
Seems to be the best value Flex fare.

I’ve just booked our flights HEL to connect onwards in Finnair to our cruise departing Reykjavik in Sept 2025. That one hooking alone will see me requal to WP and Mr Seat 0A make it back to WP.

I also got a quite good deal through Qantas Business Rewards this time - first time ever for that. Very happy right now. Certainly brought my spend forward though.

Since when was that a thing? A flight I took back in June credited no problems.

Good to know. So presumably if I were to call up Qantas to request a reward seat be released to Europe in J that will count?

It's certainly been my experience booking Qantas award flights with Alaska miles.

You may be confusing the past experience of some with those who have earned SCs using Qantas points to book award flights on oneworld airlines as a Points Club member. This is kind of the reverse. Historically, there has been no issue booking a Qantas award flight using the currency of another program and earning SCs, as a Points Club member. And subject to the other DSC conditions, they'll earn double too.

I see nothing in the current terms to think anything has changed.

Yes - the QBR account and the flyer are treated as being two different "entities". Make sure that you register for both offers before making the booking.

Just in case you need this FAQ for reference:

I'm trying to find the BNE-MEL-DPS (return) for $2,680 for 720SC but I cannot for the life of me find return flights for those prices (or anywhere remotely close to those prices).

When I put BNE-DPS in the search, most of the searches come up with BNE-SYD-DPS for $2,137 (one way). There are ones that route through MEL but it's BNE-MEL-SYD-DPS. So it seems most flights out of Aus to Bali are through Sydney.

Edit: Silly me. In my excitement, I forgot about peak and off-peak season. So the $2,137 ticket is only available a handful of days...

BNE-MEL-SYD-DPS will get you extra SC's over BNE-MEL-DPS :)

One for the experts -

I'm booking DPO-MEL-HKG-PVG (that last sector is on Cathay) and return on a Flex Y ticket. On the return leg the PVG-HKG on Cathay is booking as Class B - now for the confusing bit - "B" shows on the Cathay earning table as plain economy not Flex -

The bit that confuses it further is -

Where is shows that only Flex Y gets SC's and regular Y doesn't.

Does anyone know if it will earn SC's if it is booked as a Class B on a Flex ticket? Its horribly confusing!

MCY-SYD-AKL (rinse and repeat on return) was the winner for me. Again. Not too hard to find and worked out $1890 for 480 SC or $3.93/SC. Fares were about $200 more each way via MEL. I have been in DSC land so many times I no longer hunt for mission impossible flights like BNE-AKL via MEL. Via SYD gives you about 85% of the earn via MEL. AKL also has the advantage of hotels right at the airport.

This is the value I found today for flights in August. It's a few hours distance from our place in the boondocks to any of WTB, MCY, BNE and BDB. WTB is the closest but always an epic value fail so I didn't include that. BNE-SYD-AKL wasn't value so also not included. Looked at fares out of ROK as you can do the whole lot in J out of there and not too bad in the bargain dept. Went from MCY off this analysis.

These prices are all J bookings
BNE-AKL-BNE 752+667 $1469 320SC $4.74/SC
MCY-SYD-AKL-SYD-MCY 993+898 $1890 480SC $3.93/SC
MCY-SYD-WLG-SYD-MCY 1166+1071 $2237 480SC $4.66/SC
BDB-BNE-AKL-BNE-BDB 1047+952 $1998 400SC $4.99/SC
ROK-BNE-AKL-BNE-ROK 1206+901 $2107 480SC $4.39/SC

No rides in an A330 or 787 this time, but I can readily cope with J in the 737. The staff are nice and the food is, um, interesting, whatever the aircraft. Neil Perry leaves are leaves watever the aircraft.

The other flight I went for was a J award MCY-SYD and return, 72 SCs for 36800 points and $104.

Cheers skip

No you won’t even earn any SC with Awards booked using Avios.
Must be booked using QFF points as points club member.

A cash fare on a 125 ticket on QF code and metal would earn them though.

You can use any points currency. QF flights booked as BA, AA, AS etc. awards are all fine if your QFF number is in the PNR.
