Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I'd assume theres more of an agreement with China Air than EVA given one is a partner and one is not.

Alternatively you could look at CX and that would definitely be under OW policy?
Yeah i reckon i will book the China Air one. Last time I flew with Qantas then connecting with China Air - the Qantas staff didn't question my additional allowance, but on the way back from Taipei, I had to pay an excess fee. Luckily this time I'm flying back home with Singapore Air so will take the risk.

No Cathay option from Hong Kong to Taipei?

Is there any way to check if the DSC flag has been set?

Made some bookings tonight around 10.50pm but a bit gnarly that the e-tickets didn't come back til after 11pm (12am DST)

Got burned with DST again.

Yet another glorious week of QF DSC comes to an end! What a run it was. Although I was not able to participate in the first few days, I helped my colleagues make some good, last minute bookings that will take them across the threshold into WP area 😀 I had three colleagues on a conference call and helped them with their bookings on QF website. Kinda felt like a ticket ninja 🥷

Now, for the inevitable question - has the DSCs posted yet!? 🤣

I’d safely say that as long as the booking was created before 2359h SYD time 31Oct24, you’d be safe. Etkts might take some time to be issued. I’d also safely assume that QF IT systems are overrunning with ticket requests, searches etc. So delay is fine and kinda expected. This is my 2c

Note: I say SYD time because some states follow DST and some don’t.

I think you should be fine... The FAQs on the DSC promo site has scenarios where a booking is created before 2359 AEDT 31 October but paid after being eligible for DSC. I'm assuming this would have catered for bookings where the price hold was selected.

FWIW I did a booking ex-SYD around 11:50PM 31 Oct and received the eTicket at 12:03AM, the ticket said it was issued on 31 Oct.

cough, they both say issued 1 Nov on the e-ticket. Emails came through at 11.05 and 11.07pm (12.05, 12.07 DST)

First was paid well before 5 mins before midnight though.

Perhaps it creates a dummy/the PNR as soon as you start to go through ?

From memory it has emailed back when the browser has crashed with a saved cart/held itinerary.

I'm not too sure about how the booking system works, but my read is that when you reach a certain stage of the booking it creates a PNR in the system which for all purposes is considered the creation of the booking itself.

My hunch is that it's at the final 'Pay Now' page because (a) there's a countdown timer (so it indicates the fare/price has been "held"), (b) that's when I've had bookings on sale fares sometimes crash, and (c) at times, I've also had abandoned bookings where I haven't paid appear in my shopping cart/in 'My Bookings' (that soon disappear) when I log in. This is all just speculation on my end, so someone probably has a better idea and I'm most likely to be corrected.

That said, I still wouldn't stress too much because the issue date (shown on the eTicket) is usually the ticketed date, so it still fits within the scenario from my screenshot above. I'd PDF a copy of the page though just in case you need to dispute it later.

Unfortunately I really don't think that anyone can hold Qantas responsible if people are leaving it so late to book their DSC tickets given that the offer has been open for a week.

Well, decided to skip this one in the end. Looks like a season of lighter travel coming up and not sure if trying to retain WP is worthwhile. May bite if things change and there's another offer in March, will see.

In some ways true, but often there is much coordination to sort.

The DST got me though, thought I had more time.

NZ sales just dropped yesterday and the multi-city engine, while better than it was, is still slow/hard. Probably should've just called the titanium line but I shudder at the thought of dealing with anything QF phone. Spent 2 hours of agent time dealing with flight credit/trip credits on an AA booking yesterday.

Besides my China trip I made 2x "banker" bookings - need to keep racking up those SC's to get to LTG!

Locked in a couple of domestic trips. Literally missed a fairly last minute return to ATL by 1 minute due to not clicking "express checkout" button.
Damn. 🤦‍♀️

I guess no problem with using Qatar for some other trips then.
